Everyday Life With Jin-Su

Chapter 24 - Day 13

19/08/20XX

'It's the next day and me and Sujin are walking to my school. Of course after I've gone into school, Sujin will go back home...or maybe not...I don't think he can handle being in the same atmosphere of our parents without me.

"Hey, so, what are you going to do today?" I ask.

"Huh? Oh, uh, probably...nothing? I'm joking, I'll be going sightseeing for the day. Then, I'll come back to pick you up from school." Sujin answers.

"I'm not a little kid, you know. I can walk home by myself." I look at Sujin, pouting my cheeks.

"I know, I know but I'm still coming to walk with you." Sujin sips on his milkshake which he got from the local shop.

I sigh. He's probably not going to go home today.

"Alright. Well, here's my stop." I look at the iron gates, in front of the grey building, that guard the grounds with determination, as though their lives were on the line.

"Ok then bro. I'll see you at...?"

"4 O'clock."

"Yes. 4 O'clock. Have a good day and try not to break too many hearts." Sujin says as he slips away across the road and round the corner towards the town.

Break hearts? There's no way a person can break hearts unless they did it emotionally. There's no way someone can do it physically, not without causing a major scene.

I trudge forward, after observing the familiar surrounding, to my first class which would lead to certain doom.

I'm behind the door of my class and I'm feeling really nervous. Actually, nervous is not the right word. I'm practically leaking with anxiety.

It's only been two weeks but I feel like it's been a year. Well, it's no point standing here, off to Narnia I go (not really).

I slide the door open quickly and stand there bravely as I say 'Hello' confidently.

Silence.

Am I early? Or am I late? Or maybe there's no class today? Wait. My eyes are closed. Let me see.

Opening my eyes I see a new teacher in front of me. He's stict-looking, with his slanted eyes and furrowed eyebrows, not to mention his arms are crossed across his c.h.e.s.t sharply and he seems to be staring down at me (I swear he's like the tall tree in America, called the Sequia or something).

"Are you Park Jin-Su?" The man's voice thunders down, which makes me turn from a High School Boy to a meek little ant.

"Mhm." I nod, trying to unstick my lips from each other.

"You will be sitting in row 3, Chair 5. Make your way over there promptly WITHOUT making any noise."

I nod once more before shuffling towards my seat down 3 rows and in Chair number 5.

I sit down quietly and place my bag carefully next to the desk.

"Right! Since we've got everyone in today and you have been allocated your seats, I'll introduce myself. I am Mr. Knuckles. Now, don't think that I'll be so harsh all the time. The students who have earned it will be rewarded largely, the students who don't put in the hard work and commitment will be punished...severely."

I gulp.

"That is why I hope you all do the best to your ability and to make sure you do, your teacher and I have hand picked four students for class monitor and representative. The students are Min Haeun, Ji Guseok, a new student with exceptional grades, Na Jungyeong and...Park Jin-Su. These students will ensure that you do your work accordingly and don't waste any time. Now, Mr. Level will take over the class and I'll be going to the staff room. If you have any inquiries, don't hesitate to come and find me."
