Lin Qianrou knew she shouldn't have expected that Xu Wenyang would remember the dinner she scheduled for tonight to celebrate their third wedding anniversary. That morning, she woke up with a note from her husband telling her to plan their dinner date tonight, as he planned to take a half-day off from work. 

She'd been happy and excited that he was finally making time for her and had reserved a spot at one of the fanciest restaurants in Shenzhen. She spent the whole day planning for this and was nervous about what she should wear for their dinner date. 

Her stylist took three hours preparing her before she drove to the restaurant where she was supposed to meet her husband. A waiter came by and got her order. Xu Wenyang should be arriving soon. She sat back in her seat and waited. 

And waited… until half an hour had passed and yet her husband hadn't arrived. A hint of red appeared on her cheeks when the waiter came back asking her if she was ready to place her order. 

In the end, she ordered a meal she had no interest in eating. She played with her food as she waited for Xu Wenyang. She was about to pull out her phone to message her husband when a shadow fell on to her. 

Lifting up her head, she saw Li Yuanyi, Li Meili's older brother. He was the owner of this restaurant and a good friend of her husband. He was wearing a custom-tailored three-piece suit that screamed wealth and fortune. He was the Young Master of the Li family after all and the Li family was one of the bigshots here in Shenzhen. 

Li Yuanyi owned several chains of restaurants within the country and he was one of the most sought after bachelors at Shenzhen. It was really wonder why he wasn't married yet nor was he dating anyone. 

"Qian? You're still here? I thought you went to Guangzhou with your husband." He took a seat across her and ordered an expensive wine from one of the waiters. He offered Lin Qianrou a drink but she declined. 

"Sorry, I'm not allowed to drink." She smiled bitterly. She couldn't tell Li Yuanyi that she was pregnant, not when she hadn't told Xu Wenyang yet. "But what do you mean I should have gone to Guangzhou with Wen?" She blinked curiously. 

Li Yuanyi stared at her for a moment, trying to figure out why the hell she was here. 

"You are here because?" He asked. 

"I'm here to celebrate our anniversary. I'm waiting for Wen," Lin Qianrou said truthfully. 

She noticed Li Yuanyi's jaws hardened as if he knew something she didn't. 

"Has he called you?" Now, Lin Qianrou was sure something was up. 

"No, I was about to check on his assistant if he's even in town to meet me." She admitted. She continued to play with her food by poking the meat. 

"Ah, he probably didn't want you to worry about Meng Yanran," Li Yuanyi said before downing his drink. 

Lin Qianrou s.u.c.k.e.d in a breath and stared wide-eyed at the man sitting across her. What did he mean by that? Why did he suddenly bring up her cousin's name? 

"Brother Yuan, please tell me what's happening. Is there something wrong with Sister Yan?" 

Meng Yanran was still her cousin, no matter what. Lin Qianrou didn't have the heart to hate her or to spite her even if she knew Yanran was her husband's greatest love. 

Lin Qianrou had met her husband at one of the parties her Sister Yan had hosted. If it wasn't because of her Sister Yan, she wouldn't meet him in this lifetime. 

When she first saw him, he had taken her breath away, and she had fallen in love with him at first sight. However, unlike other women, Lin Qianrou knew that he was someone she couldn't have. 

Xu Wenyang was set to marry the rich and sophisticated Meng Yanran, but somehow along the way, she, Lin Qianrou, turned out to be another Cinderella who married her Prince Charming after her Sister Yan actually declined Xu Wenyang's marriage proposal and married his rich and bachelor uncle instead. 

Most people say that Lin Qianrou was lucky, but was she really? If her cousin didn't reject Xu Wenyang, would he even take interest in her? The only reason why Xu Wenyang took an interest in her was that she was considered as the 'Second Miss of the Meng family' and Meng Yanran had chosen another man. 

"I heard that there was a scandal back at Guangzhou. Apparently, Wen's uncle, Meng Yanran's husband, has fathered a child with another woman. It's been a talk of the town lately. Rumors said that Meng Yanran wanted to divorce her husband because of it." Li Yuanyi explained. 

It then dawned on her. Meng Yanran was finally free. 

Her heart painfully clenched in her c.h.e.s.t. So her husband went to her Sister Yan, knowing that today was their wedding anniversary? 

Lin Qianrou suddenly felt that it was hard to breathe. It was a Xu family matter and yet someone like Li Yuanyi who wasn't part of the family knew this and not her. 

Li Meili told her not to jump into conclusions without hearing Xu Wenyang's side, but what was she supposed to feel knowing that he ran as fast as he could the moment he heard about Meng Yanran's divorce with her husband? What was she supposed to feel when her own husband stood her up on their dinner date and anniversary to see another woman? 

Her hands tightened into fists. Meng Yanran was the woman Xu Wenyang wanted to marry before. Did he want her back?

"Are you alright?" Li Yuanyi asked, noticing her unusual silence. 

"Yes, I'm fine… just a little shocked over the news."
