Xiao Bao and Little Star woke up at their usual time and slipped out of the guest room silently, hoping to see their Daddy Ji in the kitchen for breakfast. It was already seven in the morning and by this time they should be having breakfast with their mother, but not today.

However, they were both disappointed that they couldn't see their daddy anywhere. He was neither in the kitchen or at his usual spot at the living room, where he usually read his books while they watched cartoons on the TV.

"Is Daddy still asleep?" Little Star asked her brother.

Xiao Bao tapped his chin as he thought about it. Was it his fault that their Daddy hadn't woken up yet? After all, he was the one who begged their Daddy to wait for their Mommy's return.

"Perhaps Daddy decided to sleep in today. I did ask him to wait for Mommy last night to make sure she arrived safely." He replied.

Xiao Bao was also curious if their mother came home safe last night, but where did Uncle Ji go? Shouldn't he be awake by now?

The little buns cast a look at their Daddy Ji's bedroom door and wondered if they should check on him, but decided to wait for him instead.

Half an hour later, Auntie Lu and the two maids who arrived from the main house to do their regular cleaning routine at the guesthouse were shocked to see the little buns, slumped on the floor in the living area, playing with their toys while Qin Jiran nowhere to be found.

It was weird not to see the handsome crippled man with the little buns this morning.

"Young Master, have you had your breakfast yet?" Auntie Lu asked, while the two maids were once again shocked to find the mess left in the kitchen.

Their guest, in spite of his disability, was a decent guest of the Tangs. He never let the maids or Auntie Lu make his meals nor make a mess around the guesthouse.

They usually wiped the counters and furniture clean, mopped the floor and changed his bedsheets, but that was all the maids needed to do for Qin Jiran as the man busied himself in the garden with the little buns, or spend his time writing on his laptop or reading a new book.

So seeing a mess in the kitchen, which they thought was Qin Jiran's sanctuary, shocked them. Shattered pieces of glasses were scattered on the floor and the strong scent of alcohol permeated the air.

Did Mr. Qin drink too much and went to bed without cleaning? That's probably what happened here. They thought.

In response to Auntie Lu's question, the pair of sweet little buns shook their heads at the same time.

"Auntie Lu, Little Star's tummy is hungry." The little girl patted her stomach, emphasizing her hunger to the old woman.

"Oh, no. That can't be! Give us some time, Little Miss! We'll make a yummy breakfast for you!"

However, Xiao Bao was more curious about their Daddy Ji and Mommy's whereabouts. Was it just a coincidence that they were both missing?

"Auntie Lu, did our Mommy come home last night? Is she awake now?" He inquired.

Auntie Lu and the other maids looked at each other and shook their heads.

"I'm afraid Young Master, we haven't seen Miss Moyu this morning." The old woman replied.

Usually by this time, Tang Moyu would have already been up. She would start her day at dawn break by jogging around the Peach Blossom Garden, trying to burn the extra calories she consumed from the sweet desserts she had eaten while clearing her thoughts. Then, she would come home later to take a shower before joining her little buns for breakfast.

This routine continued even after Qin Jiran had moved in with them. After their breakfast, Tang Moyu would drop her little buns, along with Auntie Lu at the guesthouse before she left for work.

However, two days ago, Tang Moyu had already informed Auntie Lu that she would be attending a banquet last night and the little buns would stay for a night with Qin Jiran, so Auntie Lu didn't need to make breakfast for them. So, she would only need to do their cleaning and laundry routines.

Xiao Bao didn't say anything in return. Both their Mommy and Daddy Ji were missing. Just where did go last night? His eyes went back to their Daddy Ji's tightly closed bedroom door.

He contemplated if he should knock on his Daddy Ji's door or just continue to wait here with Little Star. His thoughts were put to a halt when his stomach grumbled from hunger. He was now painfully aware that he needed to eat, like his little sister.

Half an hour later, the kitchen was back into its pristine state. The shattered bottle of bourbon was cleaned and the air now had a light citrusy scent.

Meanwhile, the little buns sat at the dining table and heartily ate their breakfast, their curiosity about their Daddy Ji and their Mommy was cast aside for a while in favor of filling their tummies with food.

Once they had satiated their hunger, they went back to the living room and started watching cartoons, but were still wondering where their Daddy Ji was.

"Yu Gege, it's already nine. Where's Daddy and Mommy?" Little Star was starting to get worried about their whereabouts. Daddy should have been with them in the garden by this time.

"I don't know, Little Star." The young boy admitted, his cute face contorted with confusion as he tried to think of the possibilities of what happened last night.

There was a mess in the kitchen, and there was a strong scent of alcohol coming from the kitchen when they woke up earlier. Then they found out that their Daddy Ji and Mommy were missing together.

"Do you think he's still asleep? What time did he get to bed last night?" Even Little Star was starting to get nervous not seeing their Mommy and Daddy Ji not around.
