Evil Husband, Glutton Wife: Buy Miss Piggy, Get Free Little Buns

Chapter 89 - Auntie Yaoyao Is off Limits (1)

Shit. Shit. Shit. Gu Yuyao kept cursing in her mind. Of all people, why did she have to meet He Lianchen today? She should have declined the Tangs' invitation to have breakfast with the devil today and went to her original plan to find a place where she could move.

There was this sense of familiarity that made her stomach churn as He Lianchen said her name. She couldn't believe that the man was still able to affect her after years of not seeing each other.

The way his eyes looked at her with surprise, his handsome face that she could never forget, and his scent that was enough to drive her insane with need. Gu Yuyao hated that her body still reacted the same way as it did before.

In the last ten years of her life, she had never allowed another man to affect her like he did. The man she thought she'd already forgotten, but hadn't truly. She'd met and dated several men after him but she couldn't keep any of the relationsh.i.p.s for too long.

Gu Yuyao's lips pressed into a thin line before giving a weak smile.

"He Lianchen, what a surprise." She replied.

Right then, the world seemed to slow down as his eyes fixated on her, straight into her eyes, making her feel breathless. His eyes slightly narrowed as he studied her, as if he couldn't believe that he was talking to her right now. She felt vulnerable and exposed under his gaze.

Other men couldn't make her feel like this, never like this. She had to be imagining things, imagining that he still wanted her as much as she wanted him. Men like him would never be short of women throwing themselves at his feet, but not her. One mistake was already enough, she didn't want to commit the same mistake ever again.

He Lianchen was the only person who managed to make her lose control of herself. The only person who was able to tear the walls she built around her to protect herself, yet, she knew she couldn't be with him. Not before, not even now.

The intensity of his gaze made her uncomfortable in her seat and Tang Moyu noticed the sudden change in the atmosphere as soon as Gu Yuyao saw He Lianchen.

"I didn't know you knew Young Master He, Yuyao." She commented, testing the waters as she wondered why her friend was acting abnormally so sudden.

From the looks of it, it seemed like it wasn't as simple as they knew each other, judging by the way Gu Yuyao shivered on her seat, Tang Moyu thought.

"Uncle Number 2, you know my Auntie Yaoyao?" It was Little Star who voiced the unspoken question of the a.d.u.l.ts.

He Lianchen placed the little girl on the ground before handing Feng Tianyi the doc.u.ments in his hand.

"En. We knew each other before. Though I'm not sure if she's the same Gu Yuyao I know," He Lianchen admitted before taking a seat next to Feng Tianyi, coincidentally across Gu Yuyao. "But I'm sure as I wasn't the coward who ran away as soon as trouble knocked on their door."

Gu Yuyao winced at that. She couldn't really blame He Lianchen to think of her like that. She didn't trust him enough to protect her from her own family. Their relationship wasn't supposed to last anyway, but He Lianchen had thought otherwise.

An awkward silence followed, which could only be perceived by the a.d.u.l.ts as the two little buns were oblivious to what He Lianchen was talking about. It was a no brainer to know that he and Gu Yuyao had a history before she escaped from the country to live in the states several years ago.

Well, it didn't matter for Gu Yuyao now. It was all in the past and she didn't want to dig it up again. Hopefully, He Lianchen wouldn drop the issue as she didn't want to cause more trouble than she already had. As long as Feng Tianyi kept his part of their deal, her family wouldn't come after her, and He Lianchen would be spared from the mess it could lead to.

Her grandfather might've already known by now that she wasn't in the states as she assumed that he was still keeping track of her. It was important that he didn't find out that she was back, or else he would drag her back to Beijing and never allow her to escape again.

Their breakfast continued in silence with only the little buns making small conversations with their Uncle Yan and Uncle Number 2. Feng Tianyi and Tang Moyu shared a knowing look and didn't bother to comment about He Lianchen and Gu Yuyao's relationship.

After their breakfast, Gu Yuyao had escaped, telling Tang Moyu that she would be out the whole day so she need not worry about her. She didn't even give He Lianchen time to react, as she had quickly dashed away, hoping that he wouldn't come after her.

"Bye, Little Star! Xiao Bao! Auntie Yaoyao will see you tonight!"

Relationsh.i.p.s for Gu Yuyao were predictable and manageable. She never allowed her man to delve into her personal affairs such as family matters. It was a taboo for her and she had made it perfectly clear to her partners.

Had they known that she was an heiress from a prestigious family, they might look at her as a bottomless treasure box. This was why she always drew a line between her and her family. She couldn't truly be with a man without worrying about how her family would dictate her life.

However, He Lianchen was different. Their relationship started as a one night stand that turned into exclusive dating for six months, until he found out about her real identity.

He wanted to ask for her hand, but she freaked out and ran away, saying that there were things better than marriage. She had run away even before he could put the ring on her finger.
