“Stay put, don’t move.”

The familiar low voice froze me into place.

I wonder if he’s okay now.

This is the area where slaves like me burn the trash.

‘How did he end up walking all the way here?’

‘Why are you coming so close to me then telling me not to move?’

‘Why?’

My mind was flooded with various thoughts in an instant.

I was standing firmly in place while holding the bow, when I suddenly felt the heat of his body behind me.

I spun around casually only to see his broad chest in front of me, so I looked straight ahead again quickly.

My heart was beating so fast I thought it would jump out of my chest.

A long arm stretched out from behind me and grabbed the bow, while the other arm held my hand that was holding it.

He clasped the bow, exactly where I was holding it.

It was like I was trapped in his embrace with the bow in front of me.

The night wasn’t too cold, but his body temperature felt so warm and comforting.

“Hold still.”

The low voice in my ears traveled straight to my heart, making it pound wildly.

I have a feeling that he could hear it beat so wildly too..

He peeled my fingers off from the bow one by one.

I couldn’t breathe anymore. read only at salmonlatte . com. This annoying watermark is not there.I don’t know how.read only at salmonlatte . com. This annoying watermark is not there.

As the last finger was moved away from the bow, I felt him breathe heavily behind me.

I could feel his breath hover over my head.

He lifted the bow up and away from me, then slowly reduced the force exerted on the strings.

He then took about five steps away with the bow in hand, then let go of my arm.

The bow, which had been spinning around my hands a moment ago, snapped and broke in half under his sudden force.

“Ha–.”

I sucked in a breath.

He’d broken the bow completely against his thigh.

It was so heavy, and the bow snapped in two like it was only a piece of light wood.

“Ha.”

He tossed the bow into the firepit and took a deep breath.

I stared into those bright golden eyes.

I was glad to see the man that I hadn’t seen in the past two days, but I was also dumbfounded by how quickly things had developed.

He closed the distance between us again.

The urgency in his words was palpable.

He was right.

I don’t know what possessed me, I didn’t know why I’d picked up that bow.

I guess I was just curious to see how far I can draw it, but it seemed to be a very bad idea.

“Show your face.”

I was staring at the ground, embarrassed, feeling sorry, and reflecting on my actions, when his words fell gently on my head.

Unable to refuse his command, I cautiously lifted my face.

I then saw a faint trace of concern in his eyes.

“Hands.”

He tugged on the wrist that I used to pull the bow, and examined it carefully.

It was relatively dark near the firepit, so he held my hand very close to make sure that he could see it clearly.

I couldn’t breathe, so I let my heart beat faster.

It’s okay.

I couldn’t draw the strings all the way out anyway.

It felt like the veins on my fingertips were beating wildly, like it had a heart of its own.

“Uh, your highness. read only at salmonlatte . com. This annoying watermark is not there. Is your arm better now?”read only at salmonlatte . com. This annoying watermark is not there.

It wasn’t an injury that will take two days to heal.

The sight of him holding my uninjured wrist and examining it made me feel embarrassed for some reason.

As I asked him about his injury, I also stared at the arm where he was injured before.

I couldn’t see anything because it was hidden by his clothes, but I can feel his grip on my wrist instantly tightened.

It was so tight that it hurt a little, but I didn’t show it on my face, I just slightly bit my lip.

“Seth.”

“Yeah.”

‘Why does it always sound so sweet when he calls my name?’

“Are you free right now?”

I already finished cleaning the herb warehouse, and now it was just time for me to get ready for tomorrow’s work.

When I was still at the palace, I mostly worked at night, but here I could sleep like everyone else during night time.

Although, I only had to start a little earlier in the morning, it was just a routine.

It wasn’t anything that would cause the crown prince to ask me if I was free at the moment.

Even if it was in the middle of the day, if he asked, there was no way I wouldn’t have time, but he still said it with such a serious expression, that made me feel like it was such a big deal if I was free for some reason.

A crown prince would never ask a slave if he or she is free.

He can just order them or discipline them casually.

‘I could have just said yes.’

‘Dang it Seth.’

‘What do you mean, always?’

‘Why add that?’

I regretted the words that came out of my mouth.

“I have somewhere to take you.”

He let go of my wrist slowly, and I looked up at him with a look that said,

‘I’ll follow you wherever you go.’

(T/N: She really wears her heart on her sleeves.)

He held my gaze, then took the lead and walked away.

I followed behind him, and before I knew it, we were already past the barracks and had reached the edge of the fortress.

I could barely walk at all, as everyone bowed to make way for us.

They were all men of higher ranks than me.

Some of them openly stared at me, while some gave me curious glances, but I was too busy following his steps to pay attention to them.

‘Are we going to the mountains?’

The fortress was a wall connecting a mountain to another mountain, and it looked like he was going towards the mountain where the end of the fortress touched.

He turned around, looked at me for a moment, and then went towards it again.

There was a path that led to the forest.

It seems to have been made with traces of someone coming and going.

The path was narrow enough for two people to walk side by side.

Walking into the mountains for the first time in a long time reminded me of the forests on the salt islands.

The refreshing scent of the forest gradually drifted into the night.

The sparse moonlight seemed to lead the way like a guide lantern, and the sight of the back of the man walking ahead of me made me feel reassured and safe.

He would have moved ahead at a faster pace if it weren’t for me.

He didn’t look back but he kept his pace slower so I could keep up with him.

Tap, tap.

His steps were barely audible, and although I was much smaller and lighter than him, the sound of my footsteps was still louder.

I walked as if I was a cat whose hind legs followed the trajectory of its front paws, I simply picked up where his feet left off.

I found it curious and amusing.

‘Is he trying to get to the top of the mountain?’

It seemed like it would be a long way to the top, but it didn’t matter.

I felt like I could go all the way to the sky with him around.

The day was perfect, not too hot, not too cold.

‘Ugh my wrist…’

The wrist he held slightly earlier was hot, so I stroked it a little. read only at salmonlatte . com. This annoying watermark is not there. It didn’t hurt, it just felt like it was burning.read only at salmonlatte . com. This annoying watermark is not there.

He turned his head to look at me for a moment, then turned left at a fork on the road.

The path was more forested than before, and at first glance, it looked like someone simply cut off their way to create it.

He picked up a branch and paved the way for me to pass.

If it hadn’t been for him, I would have been terrified, but because I trust him completely, I wasn’t afraid.

If anything, I was more excited.

Where was he taking me?

After cutting through a few thick branches, I came to an area with tall trees.

I dodged and weaved my way around the pillar-like trees, and before I knew it, he had already stopped and was calling out to me with his gaze.

“Ah.”

I walked over to his side and saw an unbelievable sight.

There was a large lake, and trees with white blossoms surrounding it.

Petals fluttered along the gentle breeze, and landed on the lake.

There were petals piled up on our feet, each glowing white in the moonlight.

“Wow.”

I couldn’t find the words to describe the scene.

It’s like the Milky Way was flowing over the black lake.

The stars in the sky were being reflected by the lake, making it sparkle.

It actually looked like the sky was split into two, it was facing each other from up and below.

The word Beautiful can’t even begin to describe what I’m seeing in front of me, and I don’t know what to say.

I took two more steps towards the lake.

White petals were fluttering, and I could see countless stars sparkling.

It was an enchanting scene that brought tears to my eyes, and it was unfolding right in front of me.

I was sure I would never forget this magical feeling for the rest of my life.

I could vividly feel the whole scene being imprinted deeply inside my heart.

My hands trembled and I clasped them together near my chest, and the man who made this space even more perfect was standing right behind me.

I turned around slowly to look at him.

He was leaning back against a tree, just looking at me.

The petals of a flower that had flown by, landed on his shoulder, and I felt something inside of me crumble into nothingness.

“Your Highness.”

“You seem to like it.”

He actually went on his way to ask me if I was free, just to show me this view.

He told me he had somewhere to take me, just to show me this beautiful place.

“Yes. read only at salmonlatte . com. This annoying watermark is not there. It’s so— So beautiful.”read only at salmonlatte . com. This annoying watermark is not there.

My voice shook with a lump in my throat.

The branches swayed with every breeze, sending petals around me flying.

Even though it was already night, the moonlight was so bright that the flowers seemed to glow in its reflection.

“Your Highness, I was wondering if I could sit here for a moment.”

The petal-filled floor looked cozy and welcoming.

My legs trembled and I wanted to sit on it for a moment.

He nodded.

“Thank you.”

I sat down on the petals, looked out at the lake, then grabbed a handful of petals and blew them out into the lake.

(T/N: Dang this scene is actually very enchanting. read only at salmonlatte . com. This annoying watermark is not there.Just thinking about it… )read only at salmonlatte . com. This annoying watermark is not there.

The petals flew lightly in a playful motion, as if it were teasing me.

I couldn’t help but laugh.

I finally had a moment where, if someone asked me when I was the happiest, I could easily answer it without hesitation,

‘It’s here, today, right now, at this very hour, at this very moment, facing this captivating place, with this captivating man.’

I could feel him approaching me, and he sat down on a rock that looked like a chair.

If I stretched my arms out, I could almost touch him.

He spread his legs slightly apart and rested his arms on them.

His side, facing the lake, was like a well-crafted statue.

‘No.’

‘No sculptor could ever be able to make something so perfect.’

I turned my head to look ahead in case my gaze was too hot, and he noticed it.

Flower petals floated around in the lake glinting off an appearance of the Milky Way.

If I listen closely, I would be able to hear the sound of running water.

Maybe there’s a waterfall or ravine nearby.

There was a steady amount of breeze, and I felt like my mood immediately lifted just sitting there.

‘If only he felt as good as I do right now.’

I tried to glance up, but I was frozen in place.

I thought he was admiring the view of the lake like me, but he was still sitting there looking at me.

Our eyes were locked completely.

“Thank you, Your Highness, for letting me see such a beautiful place.”

He was listening to me, blinking slowly.

His face was normally expressionless, so I couldn’t read what he was thinking.

I thanked him from the bottom of my heart.

If I can just pile up all my gratitude for him, then it would probably reach the sky.

“Seth.”

My heart was pounding in my chest, so I didn’t answer right away.

He looked at me with deep eyes.

“Then say it.”

His voice was low, almost like a chant.

A shiver ran up the back of my neck immediately, as if petals had brushed against it.

“S-Shane Kuh Sharkani, sir”

I added a small ‘sir.’ as if calling him by his full name would be a blasphemy for him.

He blinked slowly a few times, then opened his mouth.

It seemed like every petal in the lake was listening to the conversation between the two of us.

“First name only.”

“S-Shane…. read only at salmonlatte . com. This annoying watermark is not there.Sir”read only at salmonlatte . com. This annoying watermark is not there.

His eyes closed, like a predator that had gobbled all its prey and finally felt sated.

He breathed in deeply, as if to swallow this space whole.

I was overwhelmed by the aura he exuded, and stopped breathing as well.

“One more time.”
