On the floating airship that served as the headquarters of the Dark Guild, a boy that looked to be 12 years of age could be seen sitting in a meditative position as hundreds of books about all forms of magic were floating around him, suddenly, the boy said without turning back,

"What do you want Ultear?"

from the shadows of the room, a girl that looked to be about the same age as the boy emerged while holding a crystal ball in her hand and a smirk on her face,

"How did you know I was there?"

"You cannot hide your smell of corruption from me, Milkovich," he said as he slowly turned back and opened his eyes to reveal demonic red eyes with cross-shaped pupils, the girl stopped smirking and had a stoic look on her face as she said,

"Master is calling you, he says that the second lacrima is ready," she said as the boy nodded and got up but was interrupted by Ultear who spoke again,

"Why do you take such risk anyway, it was already a miracle that you survived your first Demon Lacrima implant without dying or turning insane, now you want to take a second one and if what I heard from Zancrow id right you want to take the third one as well? are you suicidal?" she asked, curiosity laced in her voice as Ren almost got to the door before replying,

"you would not understand the flames of revenge that burn my heart every day, I will have the power I need to avenge my loved ones even if I have to endure hellish pain, even if I have to become a demon, I do not care" he said as he left the room, leaving behind a stunned and a slightly confused girl,

The Demon Lacrima was a very rare form of lacrima that was similar to a dragon lacrima which gave the user the power of a dragon slayer, but the Demon lacrima had a distinct difference,

unlike the Dragon lacrima, the method of creating a Demon lacrima was so sinister that even during the dark ages no one was brave enough to actually use this power despite it promising power strong enough to defeat dragons, demons and gods alike,

To create a Dragon lacrima, one only needs the consent of a Dragon before taking a part of its essence and sealing it into an empty lacrima,

To create a Demon Lacrima, a mage well versed in sacrificial magic as well as soul-based magic was required, the mage would sacrifice over a thousand human souls by using a very specific runic circle to summon a true demon from a mysterious realm only known as 'The Void', the runic circle would cause the summoned Demon to be trapped on Earth land in their true form where they would retain all of their power, then the mage would use his soul magic to destroy the soul of the Demon which would leave behind an empty husk filled to the brim with Demonic power which would then be sealed into the empty lacrima at the cost the mage's life,

It was due to such a high cost of life and such an abhorrent method of creation that there only ever existed 10 Demon lacrimas that were created during the Dragon Civil war, out of these ten, three lacrimas were already lost to the sands of time and only seven remain in the world,

but utilizing them was also not without a cost as most of the previous users of the lacrimas were either killed by the dragons or went insane, for even after their death, the power of the demons still carry on the lingering will of their former owners,

The Fire demon Ruunol, The Wind demon Uxtrok, The Earth demon Trantess, The Water demon Entessis, The Lightning demon Hingoiw, the Space demon Vrobuundou, The demon of Time Axxouz, The demon of Gravity Lakkorr, The demon of Life Salfihr, The demon of death Vrilruk,

Ren had the earth demon lacrima implanted in him when he had first officially joined Grimoire heart, when he had told Hades about his wish to have as many demon lacrimas as possible, he was at first rejected, but after he proved his value to Hades, the old man reconsidered and soon enough found the location of the fire demon lacrima and the water demon lacrima,

The fire demon lacrima was located deep in the heart of a volcano where once a great temple dedicated to an ancient sun god was located, thus its retrieval was left for later once he got his hands on the water demon lacrima,

the water demon lacrima was located deep beneath the ocean in an ancient city that had submerged in the ocean during the dragon civil was in the hands of a dragon,

this was precisely the lacrima that he was about to implant into himself now, once done, he would be much stronger than before, although it would be annoying to suppress the memories of another demon when he had just got the memories of the first one under control,

With a renewed vigor, he walked into the surgery room where Hades was waiting with a strange crystal in his hands, this lacrima was very different from the one he had in him, the earth dragon lacrima was shaped in the form of a rough rock with a slightly purple and brown coloring, but this one was shaped in the form of a teardrop and was emitting a slightly blue and purple glow,

"Are you ready boy? if you fail this test then there will be no second chances and I will not allow you to search for any more demon lacrimas" Hades said as he stared at his sternly, Ren did not reply but simply got onto the surgery table and took off his shirt, revealing a scar in the shape of a rock on the side of his c.h.e.s.t, the same place where the earth demon lacrima was first implanted into him,

a few minutes later, the screams of a child reverberated throughout the ship
