Fake Saint Of The Year

Chapter 88 (END)

Epilogue – The Peace We Earned

I had finished everything I had to do.

From now on, the world would move on to a new era, where neither the Witch nor the Saint existed.

The one who would move the world would be humanity, not the representative or spokesperson who had been chosen by the world.

And with that, it was no longer necessary for me to be there.

While I wasn’t a Saint, the influence my words carried as the Prophet was too strong.

If I declared something to be white, then even if it had a black color it would be treated as white. That was how much political power and influence I had now.

But as humanity continued to shape its course, it would only be a hindrance to have a person with the absolute authority to say and do whatever they liked at the top.

That was why I left the public eye. I went to the forest where Propheter had lived, built a slightly large log house, and spent my days lazily there.

Though to be honest, politics was just way too troublesome.

The demons were no more anyway, and I didn’t know when my true personality would start revealing itself if I continued to stand in front of the public.

Heroes and warriors in stories might be cool, but if no longer had an enemy to defeat, then their existence as such fades. And just like that, since the demons no longer existed, all I could do if I remained in a high profile position was to just act dignified without really doing anything else.

The kings of the nations still consulted with me at the very least, and if someone requested my help, I would do what I could. However, I’ve basically decided that I wouldn’t involve myself too much in these things anymore.

There was a field behind my house and there were plenty of fruits that I could harvest from the forest, so I was self-sufficient.

Rather, the Guardians often came to offer the fruits and animals they had hunted, so having too much food became an issue instead.

Because of Turtle, I had as much time as I wanted…Perhaps I would spend my retirement trying to develop the foods and spices from my old world that didn’t exist here.

“Elrise-sama, I managed to catch a lot of fish today!”

As I turned towards the direction of that shout, Leila, who was wearing rough clothes, returned while carrying a basket full of fish.

Vernell was beside her.

In the end, Leila had chosen to come along with me; she even threw away her title as a Knight, and now we lived here together.

I did wonder if it was really okay for someone who’d devoted all their time to become a Knight, even as a child, to do such a thing. However, every time I tried to ask her about it, she’d just insist and say “My Saint is Elrise-sama.”

Well, it seemed that she had already adapted to this kind of lifestyle anyway. She also caught fish and animals everyday so she actually helped out. It’s not like she was being a burden as she lived here.

Maybe she was actually more suited to be a hunter instead of a Knight.

Ah, yes, yes.

Maybe I should talk about what happened to the other people.

Fiora and Mob A seemed to have developed a good atmosphere between them, and they were currently dating with the intention of marriage.

Perverted Glasses Bastard still continued on as a teacher, and was also planning to write a book about all my deeds that he could spread to the public1.

He also frequently visited this forest, and since we rarely left this place, he was an important connection to the outside world.

We also contacted each other using Styil; seeing this level of devotion somehow creeped me out a little though.

Mary and Aina successfully offered Title to become a Knight, and were still trained at the Academy even now.

The Saint might no longer be necessary, but Knights still remained as necessary combat professionals.

It was just that their loyalty would be given to their country and people instead of to the Saint.

The current Saint, Eterna, didn’t take on the Saint’s title, and is still currently studying.

It seemed that she intended to return to her hometown after graduating.

It also seemed like she wasn’t suffering too much from heartbreak; recently, she seemed to be getting along quite well with Vernell’s dorm mate, Sylvester LordKnight.

I prayed for her happiness…

Instead, Alfrea took on the mantle of the Saint, though I heard she didn’t really put any effort into learning her duties and often troubled her followers. That sounded typical of Alfrea.

Also, the one who took the most unexpected direction after was our protagonist, Vernell-kun.

I didn’t really know what he was thinking then, but he decided to drop out of school and go on a journey.

According to him, it was because “I’m not worthy enough to stand beside Elrise-sama as I am now. That’s why I will go on a journey and grow into a stronger person who’s capable of doing so.”

On top of that, he left the sword I had given him at the Academy for safekeeping, and went off without any weapon.

He was probably thinking something like “I wanted to become a man who was truly worthy of wielding that sword.”

I kept watch over him using Clairvoyance, but he seemed to be growing stronger as he sought strong opponents around the world to fight with; he was also deepening his camaraderie with men.

…What was he aiming for? Was this really okay? Wasn’t he totally going for the “Bodybuilder♂END”?

The reason he worked so hard was because of me, but…it was unfortunate, but I didn’t think I would ever be able to answer his feelings.

That’s why I kept trying to convince him to give up on me and find happiness with another woman, but… he replied with a totally embarrassing line then.

“I’m happy to be a man who could protect you”

What with this killer phrase. If my heart was really that of a woman’s, I probably would’ve swooned over him.

But my inner self, despite being slightly changed after that last battle, was pretty much still the same.

Unfortunately, that’s why the day that I would answer his feelings would never come.

…My inner self was still that of a man’s… right? I was actually starting to doubt myself on this.

If it was before, then the idea of falling for a man and truly becoming a woman had been completely impossible for me. Because the formation of my identity had already been completed during my last life, regardless of how many decades passed, I wouldn’t end considering such a thing… or so I had declared. However, because of that last battle, I was a little… really, it was just a little, but my thoughts did change, and I was scared that one day I would get influenced by such feelings.

Somehow, Vernell totally went off course, but it seemed he unusually decided to visit today because he had something to give.

By the way, he had grown manlier since the last time I saw him. Especially his muscles.

When I first met him, he was a lean, handsome guy that you could totally consider as a Galge protagonist. But now, he had become a man who would totally look normal wearing a gi2 and saying things like“I will go forth and find an opponent who is stronger than I am.”

Are you really a Galge protagonist, Vernell? You’re not actually a substitute for a Fighting game protagonist, right?

Are you okay? You won’t end up actually doing Hadouken, right?

From now on, I wasn’t sure where the future of this world was headed.

Especially about Vernell, I have no idea at all.

But whatever problem that came up would eventually work itself out, and I didn’t think that was a bad thing.

As for why, it was because the tragedy of “the Eternal Scattering Flowers” had already ended.

As such, this world was no longer that of “Kuon no Sanka.” It was a new story unknown to me.

“Err… Elrise-sama. Here, I found it on the eastern island… and I made this together with Leila-san.”

As Vernell said this , he presented something to me.

It was a hair decoration of the Angelo; it was somewhat similar to the hair decoration I had which had scattered after my fight against Alexia.

Ah, now that I think about it, I don’t wear it anymore.

Well, it was no big deal even if I didn’t have it.

In the first place, the only reason I wore it was largely because it was a  backup MP recovery item in case I ran out of mana… which never got used in the end3.

So I really wouldn’t be troubled even if I didn’t have it.

Visit lightnovelreader[.]com for extra chapters.

Or so I thought, but… Vernell naturally moved forward and placed that hair decoration onto my head.

Oh, stop it, it’s embarrassing.

“Uhm. As expected, white flowers look best on Elrise-sama.”

Oh, stop it, it’s embarrassing (twice).

As expected, he had the natural disposition of a Galge protagonist.

He sure could say such things so smoothly.

Well, let’s thank him at least. It is quite a rare flower after all.

Or rather, what does he mean eastern island? Don’t tell me he actually went and swam all the way there…?

…anyway, I will cast magic on it to preserve it later.

“Thank you, Vernell-kun. Also, Leila as well.

As I said that, I smiled at them.

Here, it’s a Bishoujo (Façade only) smile. Be happy with this.

Then Vernell and Leila both blushed and looked away.

…I understood why Vernell did, but why was Stocco also reacting like a man?

—Help, anyone!

…Muh. I suddenly heard a girl’s cry for help.

As I activated the Prophet’s power to pinpoint it, I found a girl in distress; she had strayed from the mountain road that was about 5 kilometers away from here.

It seemed she had slipped off the road and fell, and her feet were injured and couldn’t move.

Good grief… It was a little troublesome, but I couldn’t ignore this.

And so, I told Vernell and Leila that I would go out for a bit and flew off.

The girl tearfully held onto her injured leg.

The girl, who had been heading toward the city, had tried to pass through the mountain and had fallen from the cliff.

While she was still alive, her legs were broken; additionally, she was under some rubble that she couldn’t remove by herself.

If she had known that this would happen, she would have totally gone around the mountain instead. However, regret always came after the deed was done.

It wasn’t like this mountain was a highly dangerous one.

But even so, it also wasn’t likely that someone would come to her rescue; once night came, the beasts would start prowling around her.

She’d either die from starvation or thirst… or end up becoming a beast’s prey.

She couldn’t imagine any positive outcomes, and the girl’s eyes started to fill with tears.

…Help, anyone!

Even though she desperately sought help in her mind, it wasn’t like anyone could hear it4.

Any cries for help had already died down. It didn’t seem like anyone above could notice her lying down below.

But as she despaired, the clouds opened up from above her, and a light shone down from that clearing.

The one who descended was an unearthly beautiful girl who was wearing a normal white dress.

She had hair that looked like melted gold, and a pair of green eyes that shone like jewels.

This person was so beautiful that it was as if God had put all their effort into creating her, and she was compassionately smiling as she held out her white hand to the girl.

“I’ve heard it. Your cries for help.”

Against a backdrop of light, the fake Saint also shone today.
