Fate/Inheritance

Chapter 1 - Prologue

"Bang!"

I opened my heavy eyes with the sudden explosion. Peering at the battlefield around me I saw the hero struggling to stand up heavily injured. A demon standing tall clad in black scaled armor with both arrows stuck to it Carrying a black hellish axe that is attached to his right arm by a black chain. With wounds and scars visible in his grey skin bathed with blood of once brave knights and barbarian warriors that fought it in the battlefield. That fiendish demon in front of the hero said it's first word in heavy and gruff voice for the first time in the battlefield.

"Weak…"

The hero stunned by the demon's words paused and in desperation and anger ignored his wounds brandished the Holy Sword once more. But it was futile for he was blown away like a child flung by an a.d.u.l.t. The demon once again spoke but in the tone carrying disdain and boredom and with more words sharper than his assault before.

"Is this all of your world can offer? Your pitiful heroes and champions now lying down in their last breaths. Your proud warriors and contraptions laid waste in this wasteland. You guys can't even stand a Demon General and still laid claim you can take the head of our king?"

Yes, the demon in front of us is merely a demon general and not the demon king or one of his close vassals.

"And you lot even brought a weak woman of all things in this battlefield!!"

The demon roars while looking at me. Depressingly enough his words where true. For I was merely a member of the royal family of the kingdom who carried out the hero summoning. Proud of my own accomplishment in my magical talents I followed the heroes around different quests and battlefields. The demon seemingly thought of something grins deviously and looked at me directly.

"I noticed that the otherworldly heroes keep on covering you up dear princess, I wonder what will be their reaction when I crush you in a bloody pulp in front of them."

The demon general raises his axe in a throwing motion slowly while the faces of the remaining conscious people around me screamed in despair.

"Die and despair on your weakness in your next life!!!!"

""NO!!!!""

While I closed my eyes in resignation and hearing the sound of the approaching axe I suddenly heard a cool and indifferent voice.

"Rho Aias!!!"

Hearing the foreign voice, I mustered the courage to peer in front of me and I saw something that I won't forget in my entire life. A beautiful four petal-shaped shield formed from the most noble purple mana I've ever seen floating in front of me blocking the gigantic axe without cracking nor ripple. The demon stunned by something stopping his attack suddenly looked beyond my direction and roared in anger.

"Who are you dmned huma-!!!!"

The demon with a malevolent expression suddenly paused and stunned for his body that was standing tall suddenly got rained down by different kinds of swords so beautifully and artistically crafted that one after another dwarven warriors suddenly stood up ignoring their aching and injured body stunned in what they saw. While I looked at the silhouette that suddenly appeared in front of me raising a sword bathed in beautiful golden light overhead.

"Me? I'm just a damned fake…"
