Chapter 80 - 76: The Battle for Raft (Part II)

"You're here…" Van slowly said with a tired look, looking at Yamada and Flama who just opened the door.

"Yo~, commander-san~." Yamada jokingly cried out. Looking at the idiot who forced their enemies hand, they can only sigh and shake their head in annoyance. Still, apparently the boy's stupid move helped them and destroyed the majority of their enemies forces before their leader regained clarity. It just let them have some small sacrifices instead, but the lad was doing it for their own good.

"Come, we need to discuss the plan again." Van said and seriously started discussing how they would penetrate the enemy lines. During the discussion, they noticed Yamada retained his bored look so in annoyance, they called out the boy.

"You have a much better plan lad?" Laz angrily said, the guy still seems to hold a grudge at Yamada especially when he did that stunt a few hours ago.

"Yep, and to be blunt the plan you guys are going to do should be thrown to the dogs." Yamada bluntly said.

"Wha– "Save it Laz, what is your proposal then boy?" Van seriously looked at the boy. Eccentricity and strength aside, the boy have the most twisted and radical mind he had met. He practically and psychologically lured the enemy leader to do a bad move. Even if there were some casualties the boy did it realizing that a drawn out battle is disadvantageous to them.

'He would be an amazingly crazy commander in the future.' Van silently thought while waiting for the boy to speak.

"To be honest, your plan is good. But there is a glaring flaw in it. Your dividing your ch.i.p.s too much." Yamada stated first, earning a raised eyebrow from the others.

"You want to thin out your defenses and send a huge contingency of soldiers and adventurers to push a certain number of people to fight the guy but that brings casualties. Your like hammering a nail with a brittle tool, with just one use the hammer breaks resulting a huge amount of unnecessary casualties." Yamada continued on.

True, they already knew that there are sacrifices that will happen but it is a worthwhile gamble is what they thought. But what the boy said next startled them a bit.

"But you did forget in reading your enemy." Yamada said bluntly.

"What do you mean?" Agnes questioned the boy with a curious look.

"Now look, the enemy out there currently had majority of them already turned into an undead. Yet you guys had forgotten what's their fundamental way that they existed." Yamada pointed on the other side of the wall while hearing the occasional explosions.

"Wh- No wait… I got it! The undead seeks the living!" Flama cried out in joy.

"Bingo, even if these guys are being controlled by necromancers, the control necessary to use them had already thinned out after I assassinated some of them so some undead still continued into a monotonous way and being only operated by a certain set of commands. So we can easily just drag those guys and gang them up reducing their casualties." Yamada easily voiced out a strategy that is unheard of shocking the people around him.

"But the necromancers would pull them back if they noticed." Agnes voiced out a fundamental problem.

"Easy, distract 'em. Jam their commands you can easily do it with our own guys and especially if you have two special baits here." Yamada reassuringly said.

"Baits?" They looked at him in confusion.

"Yep, baits. Me and Theresa here." Yamada said patting Sake, startling her.

"Haa!?" The people at the room cried out in shock.

"He~ he~. That is also one of the glaring weakness of the undead. They held grudges for a long time literally! Majority of those heretical necromancers manipulate corpses by using the residual grudges and negative emotions in them turning them into their slaves." Yamada said making Sake flinch guiltily.

"There are others that reverses positive emotions but those guys are too tricky, but all undead because of this characteristics, they can easily and quickly identify those people they are pissed off the most and naturally… the handsome me that had just pissed him off recently and Theresa here who heavily wounded it alongside her party members before would surely be on the hit list of this guy and his intelligence will easily fall. Heh~ if where lucky he might even charge straight through if I tease him right now~." Yamada smugly said eliciting a majority vote from the people in the room to say no.

"So your saying… you're going to provoke him to battle him in combat as a 'bait'?" finally, Flama hesitantly said.

"As the usual Devil Slayer would do~…" Yamada said making them look at him suspiciously.

"That crazy plan of yours could work, but what about the monsters. They would easily try to help it if they felt that the black knight would be in danger." Van seriously said.

"Easy, just distract them. Time would be in our essence at that point. After killing the guy, they would be in a slight state of disorientation and you guys can easily pick us up at that point and if it failed… you guys would have enough window in retreating to the fort and all you get as a casualty at the final battle would be just a few guys crazy enough to 'delay' the leading monster. With the remaining personnel alongside the dwindling monsters, you guys can easily defend the place till cavalry arrives. " Yamada finalized his statement with that. With his detailed explanation, the other's started a massive debate about either implementing this stunt or not while he playfully watched and controlling the incarnations outside at the same time.

Finally, after a few minutes of debate. They finally got into a consensus and looked at the closed eyes of Yamada.

"We will agree at this plan you gave us boy. But as you said, it's crazy so we would implement some things…" Van said as if representing them.

'Ma~, to be honest I am just setting up the stage for someone…' Yamada silently thought but still he continued in nodding and listening to what they are saying.
