Fate/Inheritance

Chapter 84 - 79: Darkness Descends!!!

"Ohhhh the 'Dark Lord' huh~ pretty scary~(lol). Lemme guess, where you done in by a little baby when your spell idiotically backfired?" Yamada sarcastically said at the guy who had flamboyantly introduced himself.

[I do not know what you mean, young Hero. But I realize the blatant tone of your useless drivel, no wonder this child's emotions had become like this... is it perhaps that wretched mouth of yours that had given you the authority to be chosen?] The 'Dark Lord' retorted calmly with his own jab. [ Truly the Gods lunacy had fallen to such low standing.] He continued, gazing at the sky scornfuly as if sensing the Gods gaze.

"Meh, don't worry I'm multi-talented enough that I can do some fine tricks." Yamada shrugged with a knowing smirk.

[Yes... I had seen your tricks enough, you even employed a trick as his main ability used by one Hero from the past. Was it called 'hypnotism'? Such a strange word... yet the 'trick' can even incapacitate a raging bull of a woman, facinating. But...] The enemy said, ignoring the raised brow from Yamada. [ This... is more amazing.] He continued, calmly pulling the remnant of energy stubornly clinging on the possessed body, turning it into a black ball.

[Such a very amazing energy! I can trace the scant smell of the internal qi and it's immortal counterpart yet... they do not clash... interesting.] The Dark Lord said toying with the ball of energy a bit while the people knowledgable enough at the inner workings of how magic works finally noticed his abnormally fluid way of manipulating an energy that is not their own.

[Aside from that... for you people to manage in making my favorite child to be tattered to this level... As a parent, it pains me greatly!] The Dark Lord darkly said.

"Oi ya crazy? I dont know how you look but your clearly the lunatic type that sits in the dark and directs stuff. That buffed up dude is clearly NOT your son. With his abnormal physical strength and durability... the only one closest enough to be his parent here is her." Yamada subtly said while pointing at the unconcious Sake with a knowing smirk.

[True... SHE is the mother of the body I am inhabiting but... that child was no more and the one you see and fought right now is my CHILD!!!] With the roar akin to a demented spirit, a powerful black wave of malice and despair passed them temporarily disorienting them, forcing them to strengthen their wills or they might succ.u.mb to the sheer depravity that had tried to enter them.

"Urghh... this really feels disgusting." Laz said angrily with a pale face. Looking around, the others sport the same expression while holding their head, as if having a bad migraine.

"This rea– WHAT THE!!!" Agnes startled cry brought their attention back to their surroundings and what they saw brought them a huge amount of fear and will be something that will stick to them as a scary nightmare everytime they slept.

*AWOOOOOOOOO!!!*

In each corpse, a 'filthy, chained and deformed' silhouette came out with a demented and suffering howl, making their hairs stand in fear. They saw how those 'things' that looks like shadows of the once living beings came out with an expression of agony and suffering expression.

*...!!!!!!*

They all cry out suddenly with a silent yet emotional plea of various emotions in one silent crythat further disturbed the observers. Yet, the next occurence will make something akin to a bad dream suddenly 'turned' into their worst nightmare.

*....!!!!!!*

"Wha-!!!!" Yamada felt it, alongside all the 'sane and concious' living beings watching the spectacle. They felt the final tug of life from those 'beings' f.o.r.c.i.b.l.y severed and the chains holding them suddenly became taut and pointed in one direction, at the open mouth of their poweful adversary.

They tried to move f.o.r.c.i.b.l.y and tried to disrupt whatever magic or sorcery their advercary is doing. For they realized instinctively what those 'beings' identity are, souls. Yet, when they tried to move, a powerful suppressing force suddenly grabbed hold of their mental faculties, f.o.r.c.i.b.l.y holding them in place. The three party leaders can only try to struggle free while the others are totally 'grounded' and cannot move a single inch.

Yamada who had an already abnormal mental fortitude that is way ahead of his age due to his cultivation, training under a certain instructor and his discipline drilled in his childhood is the only one who can freely move. Yet the only thing he can do is laugh with scorn and derision directed to himself. He finally realized he was outplayed since the beginning of the confrontation. The bastard clearly knew he was buying some time to recover yet instead of confronting him straightforwardly and stop the little ploy he did

... The bastard used his plan to benefit itself, dropping one of their chances in winning this battle.

Yamada knew that their only saving grace right now to survive this battle is either by a miracle, or William successfully finishes whatever trial the current Heroic Spirit he wants to inherit from. Thinking it so, Yamada suddenly remembered one of the information the Wizard Marshall dropped to them at the first night they arrived in this world...

============================================

Flashback:

"Show me all the seven standard Class Cards you have." Zelretch suddenly said and told William at that time.

Shrugging, William pulled out all the seven Class Cards he had. Yamada, who is a 'slightly' martial prodigy of his mother's clan was facinated at the worksmanship done to them and especially, he can feel something weird emanating from them that even someone like him who had experienced some real combat experience feel aprehensive.

"You might have both noticed that aside from the seven standard Class Cards the Extra Classes are the once that are seemingly active right?" Zelretch said while observing the Class Cards. Nodding, the two teens listened in rapt attention while Zelretch continued talking. "While I have a lot of reasons putting restrictions on them due to various reasons but the one that is necessary for you William to remember is that all the Heroic Spirits in these cards both the once under the standard and the extra classes have different kinds of compatibility."

""Compatibility?"" William and Yamada said both at the same time.

"Yes, compatibility." Zelretch said when he suddenly sported a mischevious grin. " You may or may not notice in the future, but all the Heroic Spirits connected to thesr Cards have various levels of compatibilites to you but all of them are in the passable levels. While you may deny it, all the Heroic Spirits that have a connection to these cards have sone similarities to you that you may have already discovered before, that are visible to your quirks or something that is deeply hidden on you that you may not know it."

"So what is the catch for these 'compatibilities' old man." William said while narrowing his eyes in suspicion.

"*cough* Do I really look that suspicious to you? Zelretch said putting a sad facade. When he saw William and even Yamada nod, he can only click his tongue in annoyance and continued talking.

"Ok, fine. I already discussed to you about your [Inheritance] ability and you already know that the the Heroic Spirits will test you of your qualifications. While I won't say what trial they are or that is unknown to me but all I can say to you is that based on your compatibility to said Heroic Spirit, the difficulty may change depending on said compatibility to them based on how they perceive and understand you."

"Oi, so it's still depends to the Heroic Spirit in the end then?" Yamada snarled angrily when he pieced them together.

"Let me finish the talking young man." Zelretch reprimands him for a bit and continued on. "Let me state an example, imagine you are actually barely talented in wielding spears and the Lancer of your choosing is merely compatible to you just because of a hidden quirk that you don't or may have an idea of. Naturally, the difficulty of the trial of inheriting his 'spearmanship' will be hard. So, the only thing the Heroic Spirit can do is either by forcing your talent to blossom in the battlefield, train you, or some other ways or the person will just plainly deny you of inheriting their skill set." He said while sporting a serious look this time. "In the end, they still have their pride as a Heroic Spirit to manage and their own ideals and personalities to consider. Understand?."

Finishing that discussion when both of the teenagers in the room nodding, they continued on to the next Q & A for the night.

End of flashback:

==============================================

Remembering that memory, Yamada snapped back in rapt attention when he felt a tugging sensation in him. Shocked, he noticed that his 'soul' and 'essence' in him are trying to come out of his body. In panic, Yamada grabbed the two ornaments tied to a necklace he wore and broke them. Sensing a powerful aura enveloping him, Yamada thought of thanking the two priests from both the Temple of Light and the Temple of Death who begrudgingly collaborated in making the ornaments he broke.

It was one of the things the guild master and the guy leading leading the town's military implemented in case something evil attempt something malicious on them.

Gasping, he felt that his 'soul' and his 'essence' is succesfuly anchored back in place to his body. Orienting his senses, he noticed that his fellow companions conditioning is worsining by the second. Hurriedly, he broke their own ornaments making them return to their senses and what is going on currently.

"H-he is consuming the souls of the dead!!!" A mage from Axal's party shrieked in terror. Seing the 'souls' flew inside the mouth of the 'Dark Lord' swallowing them, while the bodies surrounding them turn into dust.

"Impossible!!! The soul is protected and safeguarded by the Gods by their blessings! It is impossible to tamper it! Even the heretical necromancers can only manipulate the corpses when it's host is gone or sealed!" Agnes angrily said, dismissing the claim.

"N-no *cough* it is possible if it is that bastard... I saw it once...*cough*" Unknowingly, Sake had woken up and wobingly stood up using her sword as a support.

"Save your breath for later. The guy is coming." Yamada seriously said, sensing the sheer aura the 'Dark Lord' is emitting that even the miasma had turned into a black fog, obscuring their vision.

[FuHaHaHaHaHaHaHa!!!! EvEn iF tHis VesSeL Is NoT aDeqUaTe FoR MinE GlOrIuS SeLF! PoWeR cOurSiNg iN a BoDy iS stiLL. FeAlLs FaCiNaTiNg!!!] Two disturbing voices overlapped at the same time, the black mist slowly receded and the new form of their enemy became visible.

Yamada who saw its new look, aside from his face paling a bit and his eyebrows twitching.... One thing only passed on his head...

'F.u.c.k... you got to be kidding me, Frieza!'
