Fate's Game [GL]

Chapter 29 - Eavesdropping

Usually evil minds are smart and would think that someone could open the door in an inappropriate time, because they would come up with something like that themselves and use it against their most hated enemies. It is a normal saying that good die young and evil live forever.

And Bethea was aware of that herself. Why would she allow one improper incident destroy her whole life. Pfui, pfui, as if!! She prepared one of her trusted aids to guard the door and stay for look out for any unexpected events and inform her at any time.

But even that wouldn't reassure her, she tried to stifle her voice as best as she could, afterall, today wasn't to have an affair as Emilié thought. No, it was to accomplish a goal.

After one short ride Bethea held down the guy. He got more than enough from Bethea, it was her turn now.

"You had your reward." she panted half breathlessly. "Now tell me, did you finish it?"

Again the male chuckled giving her no response, he wanted to make another move on her, but Bethea pierced her nails into his shoulder getting a light groan out of him.

"Are you a horny brat?! We already did it two times and you're still not satisfied, turn down your little brother or I will crush it into mush!" she scolded, she was just pissed by now.

How dare he ignore her again and again and make a move on her. He got to be nuts.

"Oh baby~ how'd I love that" came a deep sultry voice and this approved her speculation of him being nuts.

Emilié was totally grossed out, that man really needed to turn it down. He sounded more like a toy-boy than a respectable or influential man, never did she though Bethea's taste was this low. What could he possibly give her that she would lower her pride as a woman and give him her body?

"MARCUS!" Bethea growled.

"Ok, ok, I finished it. Happy?"

"Really? Fast and clean?" Bethea asked for confirmation.

The guy named Marcus became irritated. He confirmed it already, why was she keeping on asking? "I told you it was done. Why do you keep on asking me?!"

"Since you messed it up once with Emil I have to be sure you did this one right! How could you have overlooked one big detail of his WIFE being there with him in the car!!" articulated Bethea clearly with the same irritation.

"Hey! I thought he was alone and that turned out ok, ok! In the end I killed him off, wasn't that what I was supposed to do? Only, there was his wife with him involved in the accident and still lives on; not that she can expose us or anything, stop being mad at me for that!"

When Emil's name came up Emilié felt the arms around her shake lightly and his breathing became irregular, showing how shaked up Emil was by this piece of information. He found out too who the a.d.u.l.terous couple were but was calmer about it then Emilié.

He knew more than enough not to lose composure, but it was out putting him hearing about his former wife. How he wished he could come out and bash that assh*les head on the wall; Jane didn't deserve to suffer all this pain but he had to calm down and be rational, Emilié had to take the priority, he will not bring her in danger when her health was already bad.

But Markus left no room for Emilié's agitated state, from Bethea's stupid action, calm down.

Her state even worsened because of him, her spinning mind flakered between a black and blank space, making her face turn a light blue shade, almost seeming to suffocate.

"And the lady today is taken care off too. Ahhh.. but there were some small problems." the Marcus guy scratched his head and laughed his mistake off. "But worry not, they won't come biting us back."

However, Bethea was not one to let this easily slide. No, her voice raised a pitch and she put him under pressure with her agitation. "Problem! What could be difficult on killing a cheating vixen?!! You had been ordered to do it fast and clean. What couldn't you understand by that?"

It was shrill and ear scratching. For Emilié's s.e.n.s.i.t.i.v.e ears an ugly feeling, combined with ugly words. Who was this cheating vixen, Bethea was talking about?

"Fast! So I killed her today but clean... you know? It.. It was pretty messy actually, her..." he hesitated to tell her the gory details, but her sharp eyes wandering down to his little brother told him to keep on before he ends up with mush in his pants, so he continued.

"Her head cracked like a watermelon and blood splattered everywhere, so I wanted my reward first before I tell you how it went."

"And I only had a short time frame to kill her. You told me this morning I should take care of her!" he stated hurriedly. "It would have gone better if you asked me it earlier. Now I had to find a chance to do that and she was always surrounded by people and tomorrow she'd be back in the mansion following that girl's a.s.s like a loyal dog, so I had to kill her in public, hit and run."

Emilié's mind fluctuated completely to black. She understood the talk she eavesdropped. It was about Bethea hiring the man named Marcus to get rid of a woman. A woman who would be back to the Evans mansion tomorrow... following a girl around...

Emilié catched on quickly and did not want to believe it, she struggled to get out of Emil's grip wheezing for air. Emil not understanding this dramatic change of Emilié, misunderstood it and thought Emilié's health dropped drastically from the cold. He wrapped his jacket tighter on her keeping her body warm which didn't help her hyperventilation.

"You what?!!!" Bethea screamed exasperated.

"Hit and run" Marcus repeated dully once more.

Bethea angrily pushed him away. "You idiot! Clean means leaving no evidence leading back and you kill her in full public view! You don't deserve any reward you greedy sh*t! You deserve a beating of commonsense!"

Unprepared, the Marcus guy stumbled back hitting the door, Emil and Emilié where hiding at.

The door swung back, Emilié's heart was in her mouth, she shot her eyes shut.

Emil stiffened getting ready to jump at him first and have the surprise factor as advantage when; the door stopped an inch before them.

To their ignorance, there was a door stopper installed on the floor, in order for the doors not to smash on the walls when the wind blows.

But for Emilié that didn't matter anymore, she was out cold, the whole barrage of informations and assumptions her head got and created, made her unhealthy body emotionally overload and faint.

The Marcus guy stopped talking and gave a hard glare to the side of where Emil hide. He had the impression to have heard something.

"Marcus? What is wrong?" Bethea asked, seeing him make a 180° turn from submissive to serious.

Marcus raised his finger in front his lips to gesture her to be quiet. 'shh'

He made slow steps to the door putting his hand on the handle, he only had to pull now and Emil would be exposed.

Emil's back was tense, now he couldn't afford anything other then staying put, Emilié's limp body in his arm felt like thousand pounds to him.

This little life could be lost because of him and weighted down on his mind. It would have been better if he left her there in that room for someone to find and save her, than let her die in his arms.

'knock knock knock'

Hurried knocks came from the room door where the aid had to guard, followed with panic stricken voice.

"Madam, Madam!! Something happened in the ballroom!"

With that Marcus and Bethea turned away from the balcony door and went back in the room.

Emil heard Bethea still talking, so they didn't left the room yet, they were putting on their clothes and making themself presentable for the crowd.

By then Emil could finish sum up what went on in the ballroom, after Valentin and her friends run out.

It seems Haku held them up long enough, even too long for Emil's taste. The children went back and were in a mess talking about blood and it not being their fault etc.

And then came a Valentin running clad in bloody stains making the guests panic. They thought someone was aiming for the lives of their children.

The aid told what happened with Emilié.

Seemed like someone else other then Haku saw Valentin and co. bringing Emilié away and this turned into a big misunderstanding under the guests.

Bethea had to go out fast now and bring all this mess that was made under control.

Emil let out a sharp air of relieve, both of them left the room and gave him finally the chance to leave with Emilié.

...

Two miles away from the Evans mansion was a black car driving with full speed.

Emil was driving and Chameleon, or what her real name was Sera, was sitting behind holding a bad shaped Emilie in her arms.

"You really didn't want to wait for Haku?" Sera asked looking down and playing with Emilié's long hair.

Emil side glanced at her from the rear mirror and said. "He can find another escape route, he doesn't need to come with us. The girl needs medical care fast or she won't make it tonight."

"What do you plan to do with her?" Sera asked out of curiosity. She hoped he had no plan on bringing this burden with them to their headquarters.

"Nothing, I will give her a carefree live different then what she had learned of. Jane would love some company in that summerhouse."

"Hmm.. " Sera gave with a deadpan voice, she wasn't fond off Emilié at all, since she was Sasha's daughter but Emil didn't plan to bind her on them, so she didn't care much for her.

Sera once again looked at Emilié, she was like a carbon copy of Emil with some slight differences, this made her a bit more likeable, but not enough to get Sera's acknowledgement.

She took out a handkerchief and cleaned the bloody cheek which reopened.

"Can you..." came from Emil after a while "...investigate the person, whom Bethea killed?"

...

Back to the room where the a.d.u.l.terous couple met.

The door opened and Marcus marshes in. The atmosphere around him was completely different then before, his face was stone hard and cold, his walk was upright and intimidating. No one would wish to cross him or even dare talk informal to him when seeing him.

That would be indeed the type of person Bethea would be interested in, different than the squishy one she spent some time with, but this man was just really good in being two-faced and sneaky.

Being on one side cold and intimidating and the other mischievious and playful, an unusual combination which Bethea found out later and very much dislikes.

He walked to the door where Emil hide a while ago and went behind it. Just as he thought, there was really no one and he made up all this hearing something; he dismissed this impression.

But then something caught his eye; a dark smudge.

He crouched down and went with his hand over it, the smudge stuck at his hand but the colour couldn't be seen clearly. He raised it up his nose and a metallic stench assaulted his nose. It was blood and it was fresh.

D*mn it, someone was there when he and Bethea talked. He should have been more careful. Now he had to investigate this and find out who listened on them and get rid of that rat.
