Provocation

“I don’t know the name of these yellow flowers. Do you?”

“It’s not a species of flowers that I know of. Maybe it’s a flower which grows only on this island.”

“Hmmm, well, then it’s a good thing that you led us to this cave.”

Micheal, who was mumbling to himself, began to make flower bouquets along with Jayna.

“These flowers are too small to make a bouquet.”

“Mhmm. But I still want to try, the flowers are very pretty.”

“Really? Then give it to me when you’re done. This genius wizard will make you one too.”

“Okay.”

After much thought, Jayna twirled the flowers and arranged them in the bouquet.

Beside her was Micheal, who had his mouth wide open while fiddling with the flowers. However, it was difficult to get the shape he wanted.

‘It’s difficult to arrange flowers properly.’

Micheal thought all he had to do was to collect and tie the flowers together, but the flowers had to be arranged differently according to the colour, size and shape.

In the end, Micheal gave up trying to arrange the flowers into a bouquet after he picked ten flowers, understanding that he couldn’t do it.

‘Why can’t I do this?’

Micheal’s face crumpled. He planned to tease Rosian by making a bouquet that Jayna would like.

It seemed that the genius wizard wasn’t good with his hands, and didn’t have a good sense of aesthetics either.

‘Come to think of it, the staff in the dressing room laughed at the clothes I chose….. Oh c’mon.’

Micheal who wanted to tease Rosian, looked back.

“Hey. I wonder what kind of bouquet did Jayna give you…”

[T/N: Teasing here, Rosian hasn’t been given a bouquet by our FL]

But Micheal didn’t notice Rosian behind him until a second ago.

Before Micheal knew it, Rosian was making a flower bouquet next to Jayna.

“The bouquet is very cute, maybe because the bouquet was made with Miss Jayna’s cute hands.”

“Thank you, Your Highness. Your skills are very good as well.”

‘I, hey… I was the one who found this place after searching for so long…’

Micheal felt the insides of his stomach twisting as he saw Rosian talking to Jayna in a familiar manner.

With his head held high, he took out the bouquet Jayna had given him out of his spatial pocket and began to walk towards the two.

“Hey kid, remember this?”

“Uh… isn’t that the bouquet I gave you a long time ago? They haven’t wilted yet?”

“Yes, and it’s all thanks to my preservation magic.”

Michael, who made a triumphant face while holding the bouquet of flowers, reached out to grab the new bouquet of yellow flowers made by Jayna.

“Give me that bouquet. If you give it to him, it’ll wither in no time at all.”

Because what Micheal said was correct, Rosian couldn’t say anything and just tilted his head.

In the end, Micheal, who received Jayna’s bouquet brightly grinned with a winner’s smile.

“Hey, are you jealous? If you’re jealous you can learn magic like me. Oh, you can’t because you’re a knight, right? Then train hard. Who knows? Maybe my aunt will give you some artifacts with preservation magic.”

Rosian kept his mouth shut while Micheal became more gleeful and sarcastic.

Rosian then turned away.

‘Huh, was that too much for him?’

Even so, how long had it been since Micheal had gotten drunk on victory?

“Then, I’ll give instead of receiving it.”

“Huh?”

Rosian put a flower ring on Jayna’s finger, which he had made when he turned his back.

With a smile as bright as the sun,

“The ring looks good on you, Miss Jayna!”

[T/N: Boi that was smooth af]

[Q/N: Ha, take that, Micheal.]

Jayna opened her eyes wide as she looked at the flower ring placed on her finger.

“You’ve also made me a flower crown before, Your Highness is very talented!”

“Just tell me if you ever want something else. Oh, we can also make it together.”

“Then, could you help me make a new one?”

“Sure!”

Micheal’s smiling face crumpled in an instant, so much that it was unbelievable that he was smiling brightly just a moment ago.

‘Why a ring of all things? Do you want to make things uncomfortable?’

Micheal never liked Rosian, who constantly flirts with Jayna. Besides, this guy is doing what I can’t.

‘How does this weak guy try to look after her? I’ll make you beg for your life until you stop flirting.’

As soon as Micheal returned to the beach, he began carrying out his second plan that he just made.

“Hey, kids. If you go to the beach, shouldn’t you go in the water at least once?”

With a flick of his finger, the waves began to get stronger.

In an instant, a wave the size of two adults hit the two.

[T/N: the latter two refers to Jayna & Rosian]

“Miss Jayna!”

Rosian involuntarily pulled Jayna’s body towards himself to protect her from the waves.

But only after the waves had passed, that Rosian realized his actions were unnecessary.

“Rosian, are you all right?”

Jayna made a shield around herself with mana.

“Micheal-nim.”

When she turned her head and looked at him, Micheal slowly clapped, as if he had done it on purpose.

“You passed. Your reaction and the shield you made, everything was good. Just like a genius wizard’s pupil.”

“Oh, huh?”

While the two of them were confused, Micheal pulled Jayna away from Rosian.

“Hey, you’re really weak, who’ll be protecting who? While you’re playing around with other kids making flower crowns or rings, she’ll be learning magic from me. She doesn’t need your help.”

“Micheal. Your Highness is…”

Knowing that Rosian started learning swordsmanship recently from Elia, Jayna tried to explain it to Micheal, but Rosian stopped her.

“Miss Jayna, I’m alright. It’s not like Micheal hyung-nim was wrong.”

Rosian looked at Micheal and said,

“You’ve never liked me because I don’t have any innate talent.”

“You want me to say it bluntly? You’re talented but you don’t have any guts.”

“Well, teach me about the mana you’re so confident about. I’ll master it.”

Wizards and Knights used mana in different ways. If wizards used mana on the outside, knights used mana by building it up inside of his body.

Therefore, the rate at which knights felt mana was relatively slow when compared to wizards.

No matter how much talent he had from inheriting his mother’s skills, it was almost impossible for him, who learned swordsmanship superficially, to use magic immediately.

“Huh, do you think it’s simple to control mana?”

“Don’t change your words later.”

“Alright, I’ll admit it when you’re good enough to move on waves without a wooden board.”

[T/N: Micheal will only acknowledge Rosian if he “moves” on the waves using mana.]

Micheal then unexpectedly began to teach Rosian how to use magic.

Usually, he would have angrily said ‘Why should I teach you?’ but this was also part of his plan.

Jayna looked at Micheal who had the corners of his mouth raised.

‘Somehow it feels malicious…’’

And Jayna’s predictions were correct.

“Okay, try it out.”

As soon as Micheal finished his sentence, he flicked his fingers, as if he was waiting.

The weather suddenly became cloudy, dark clouds from far away began to crowd the sky. It seemed like a completely different place.

“This…”

“Changing the weather isn’t a big deal because I do know a bit of sky magic.”

Sky-attribute wizards knew how to use wind magic, and amongst them, the high ranking and powerful ones could even change the weather based on their whims or even make lightning strike in a clear sky.

Kwarreung!

With the sound of thunder, the waves began to rise and lightning bolts began to fall from the sky.

Micheal, who was looking at the scene, then looked at Rosian with a smirk. He looked at him wondering if he was going to push forward without giving up.

Jayna looked alternatively at the two of them and shouted.

“Micheal-nim, are you telling me to keep my balance on the stormy waves?”

“Yeah. As long as you’re good at controlling mana, you can even lie down and eat rice cakes while doing it.”

“It’s simple for Micheal-nim…”

But her words were cut off by Rosian.

“Then, I’ll try and do it.”

“Your Highness?”

Rosian face was, unlike usual, stiff. He was nervous, but he nodded with his fist clenched.

Jayna’s mouth was ajar.

Micheal looked embarrassed, it was as if he didn’t expect it.

‘I thought you were going to back down… Is this guy really going to do it?’

Jayna looked anxiously at Rosian and opened her mouth.

“Your Highness, Micheal is just playing a prank. So…”

Rosian shook his head and remained firm.

“No, I’m fine Miss Jayna. I’ll be able to do it, so don’t worry.”

“Is that so, Your Highness? All right then, try it. I don’t expect good results, but I’ll wait for a day.”

With those words, Michael turned around.

“Kid, let’s go inside.”

“But…”

Jayna was unable to take any steps. She turned to where Rosian was, but all he did was smile broadly and wave at her.

“Don’t worry Miss Jayna, go in first!”
