Chapter 6: Master of Su Embroidery

Lin Yi was going to accomplish a decent amount of work today. After she went back home, she took out an old notebook and pencil and started drawing clothes patterns.

When she was done, she thought about the farm work Wei Luan had to do. It was best for his clothes to be loose and comfortable, so she modified them.

After transmigrating to the countryside, Lin Yi might not know how to do farm work, but she was definitely a professional when it came to making clothes.

A century ago, Lin Yi’s family used to do customized Su embroidery on palace officials’ uniforms.

With the development of the modern era and the popularity of the Internet, the situation for their embroidery products gradually became difficult. Traditional production techniques had trouble adapting to the modern business models. The Lin family nearly had to close their shop in her father’s time.

Worse still, most of the children in the Lin family were not interested in Su embroidery. Boys being boys naturally did not like embroidery. Many girls could not stand the difficulty of practicing embroidery skills and often gave up after learning for a few months.

Among the children in the family, the only one who persisted was Lin Yi.

She began learning Su embroidery from her great-grandmother when she was 8. At 13, she began learning to design clothes, draw patterns, and make garments. At 15, she was able to complete garment production independently and form her own unique mature style.

After her coming-of-age ceremony, Lin Yi became the only legitimate heir to the family’s embroidery business.

Lin Yi also majored in fashion design at university and had won many design awards for her work.

After graduation, Lin Yi went abroad to further her studies for a few more years. She incorporated Western clothing-making techniques into traditional Su embroidery clothing, undertaking bold reforms and innovation.

At the age of 25, Lin Yi returned to the country and established her own independent studio.

Due to her unique design and exquisite embroidery skills, the studio advanced very smoothly. Even though there were limited slots for her custom-made products and they were extremely expensive, many top celebrities and members of high society vied for them.

Thanks to this, Lin Yi did not have the time to date before she was 30.

Lin Yi did not expect that after she transmigrated, a husband would fall from the sky. She did not even have to date anyone. Sometimes, fate had strange ways.

For a top designer like Lin Yi, making a piece of clothing for Wei Luan was a piece of cake.

After drawing the pattern, Lin Yi picked up the scissors and started cutting.

Lin Yi had never measured Wei Luan’s body before, but she had been a designer for many years, so she had sharp eyes. Basically, she could determine the exact size range with just a glance.

Moreover, that night, the two of them made love passionately in bed. She even personally felt Wei Luan’s figure.

Although Lin Yi and Wei Luan did not have any feelings for each other, she had to admit that her roommate’s figure was really good. It was comparable to some international supermodels. Moreover, Wei Luan had been doing farm work all year round, and his muscles were well-developed. His eight-pack abs were simply perfect.

Lin Yi’s heart raced as she thought about the man’s hot figure and what happened that night. She even thought about the sensation of his abs.

Humans were always lustful, and Lin Yi was no exception.

However, Lin Yi knew that what happened last night was just an accident. The person Wei Luan liked was Lan Hui.

Lin Yi and Wei Luan did not have any feelings for each other previously and they were still strangers now.

Lin Yi sighed and pushed the complicated thoughts out of her mind. She continued to focus on making the clothes.

After making the clothes, Lin Yi saw that it was getting dark outside, so she got up and prepared to cook.

She really could not eat Wei Luan’s cooking. It was better for her to do it herself.

Lin Yi went to the kitchen and opened the cupboard.

Wei Luan did not have many food supplies at home. There were a few eggs and a bag of flour in the cabinet, and there was not much rice left in the rice jar.

A broken basket sat on top of the water vessel beside the stove. There were a few sweet potatoes and dried corn cobs in it. A jar of lard and a box of salt could be found on the stove.

Lin Yi thought for a while and decided to make egg pancakes and porridge today.

Lin Yi cut a sweet potato into small pieces and crushed some corn kernels with a rolling pin. Then, she placed the pieces of sweet potato, corn kernels, and half a bowl of rice and water in the pot. She turned up the heat before letting it simmer.
