Fire And Flame

Chapter 28 - Airport

Laura and Lily happily ate dinner leaving their plates clean as if washed out in a dishwasher. The food was finger l.i.c.k.i.n.g good! Soon after, they both went back to Laura's bedroom. As Lily had promised her best friend that she would sleep with her tonight, she quickly took a shower and changed into a new set of clean clothes before heading to Laura's bedroom. Whereas, Laura took a quick shower as well because those scenes haunted her. She thought there was a high probability of a ghost inside the bathroom. She quickly wiped all the water off her body and slipped into her night dress. When she stepped outside, she saw the room was dark except for the bedlight her wardrobe and. There was someone in white dress sleeping on her bed.

"AAAAHHHH!!" She screamed. The only difference between the person and the ghost was the ghost was dressed in all black and the person sleeping, in white.

"What the hell is wrong with you, Laura!? It's me! LILY!" Lily's heart almost came out of her mouth when she heard the scream.

So painful it was to her delicate ears.

"Why are you here? When did you get in? And why are you wearing this white night dress?" Laura's heart was beating so loudly that she could hear it beat in her ears. So loud. So terrifying.

"Did you forget that you didn't lock the door because you're afraid of ghosts and what do you mean by 'why am I wearing this white night dress?' You'll tell me what to wear and what not to? Come and sleep. COWARD. We need to get up early." Lily hugged her pillow and went into deep slumber.

"Okay…" Laura was so terrified seeing a real ghost a while ago which made her whisper this time. She quickly climbed onto the bed and wrapped herself with blanket and pillow like a cocoon. It took awhile for her to drift to sleep.

Meanwhile, Brandon was all alone sleeping in his office bedroom.

….

The next morning, Laura and Lily woke up early and went for a morning walk in the garden.

"Why do I have to run? I don't get fat no matter how much I eat. I don't have to run, Laura! Stop!" Lily huffed, breathing heavily.

"You should thank your Body Mass Index. The reason why you don't get fat." Laura continued jogging leaving Lily behind.

"If you do this to me, I will die today due to lack of oxygen! How will I meet him at the airport, dummy!" Lily follower Laura.

"Silly, you aren't even jogging, it's more like catwalking. And no one dies because of running. Five more minutes, we are done." Laura had to run for one last round of the garden before going back to have shower.

"So cruel." Lily cursed her best friend.

When Lauren was alive, he used to do the same to Lily and Laura. He used to jog early in the morning in the neighbourhood, dragging Lily and Laura along with him. To him, one must have a healthy and fresh mind to work properly for the rest of the day. Healthy body leads to a healthy mind. This made Laura develop a habit to exercise every morning. She followed every teaching her father had taught. Since thirteen years, she ate cereal in the morning as her mother, Kiara, would feed her a bowl of cereal. Old habits stay. Laura wanted not the memories of her past fade away. Hence, she followed the routine she used to before the death of her family.

After completing jogging around the garden, Laura and Lily went back to their rooms to have shower. Eli prepared breakfast for them and was waiting for the two best friends to join her for breakfast. Soon both girls joined her for breakfast. Eli discussed what to prepare for lunch and dinner. She was excited to meet him as well. She wanted to cook and not order from some restaurants.

"Okay, then. I will go buy all necessary things required for today's lunch and dinner. You both go get ready. You don't want to get late today." Eli collected all the dishes and went to the kitchen to wash them.

"Let us go get ready. We have two hours in hand. Do you want to drop by the office for a while?" Lily washed her hands. Laura followed her.

"Yes, we still have two hours. We'll pay a brief visit and then head to the airport. Is that fine?" she wiped her hands using hand towel after washing.

Kelvin drove both the ladies to the office and then to the building.

It was already time for the plane to land.

Laura patiently waited in the car and glanced at the exit gate in every thirty seconds.
