Fire And Flame

She inhaled a good amount of the delicious smell deep into her lungs.

'So tasty…' she sighed, her eyes were still closed.

To her, food was everything. Food was the only love in her life, who stayed with her anytime and anywhere. After a tiring day, she would always look up to the refrigerator and her mood would instantly get better looking at all the food items stuffed inside the refrigerator. Must say, she was an avid foodie and so was Lily! They'd rather eat all day than go outside to shop or have fun. A day with delicious food and home theatre would make the best day.

As she was still admiring how gorgeous the food bowl was looking while sitting on her knees, Brandon stood a little away from her, holding the plates, bowls, spoons and forks… he looked at the lady who was in another world. The world of food.

A gentle smile formed on his face looking at the cutesy in front of him. He wanted to look at her more, but Laura sensed someone in the room and turned to look at him.

'What a perfect timing…' Brandon cursed under his breath.

He cleared his throat, "I got the bowls and plates for both of us. You don't want to get the food cold, I think…"

"Thank you. Let me serve." Laura was embarrassed. He might have seen her drooling over the beauty of the food.

She served the soup first and then the noodles. The atmosphere was quite… only the sounds of slurping of soup was heard the whole time. Laura then served the noodles and began eating. This whole time, she didn't pay attention to him as she was busy eating her own food. Whereas, Brandon took a bite once in a while and looked at Laura who didn't care to look up at him. It wasn't rude but rather cute. He truly enjoyed eating with someone as was used to eat alone when at home.

She looked at her clean bowl as sadness engulfed her heart and eyes. It was time to leave now. She finally looked up at Brandon who was still eating.

'Was she eating like a monster all this time?' she thought to herself.

"Um..." she stared at his plate.

"Yes?" Brandon was eating a spoonful of noodles when he looked at her.

After chewing and swallowing, "Do you need anything?" he asked.

"No, you're a slow eater… " Laura looked at his plate and then at him.

"Ah, it's not what you think. Haha. I am not in a mood to eat much today." He smiled, assuring her than he was fine.

"Is it not tasty?" Laura was confused as she found the food very tasty… in fact she had ordered it from a famous restaurant. The taste can't be bad.

"It is very tasty, trust me." Brandon nodded his head.

"Take your time, then." Laura waited for him to finish so that she could wash the dishes before leaving. She didn't want him to wash her plates.

Brandon quickly finished eating and stood up to collect the dishes.

"No! I will do this, please." Laura didn't give away her used plate and bowl as she held onto them tightly.

"This isn't right. I can't let my guest wash the dishes." Brandon tried to take the dishes away from her.

"Please..." Laura looked at him with brows furrowed and pouted cheeks.

She stood up with her use dishes and snatched the bowl and plate from him.

"I will be back." she walked to the kitchen sink counter and started washing the dishes. After washing, she wiped the plates and bowls and kept it aside as she didn't have an idea where to keep them. The compartments where covered with wooden boards. So, she had to lift all the boards to find out where exactly to keep them.

"Thank you..." Brandon had been watching her from the door.

"I shall be leaving now, Mr. Reynolds."

"I will drop you."

"No, you need to rest today. I have asked Lily to come over. She will be here in a few minutes. Thank you..."

"Alright, let me see you off."

"Fine."

Lily was waiting in the reception.

'How long is she taking to come down?' she was growing impatient. She was about to order food for lunch when he received a text from Laura asking her to pick her up from Maple Inc.

Then, she saw the white elevator open, Brandon and Laura stepping out.

"Good afternoon, Mr. Reynolds. We meet again." Lily walked over and extended her right hand for a handshake.

"Good afternoon, Ms. Lily. Nice to meet you again." Brandon smiled as both exchanged a firm handshake.

"Boss, shall we go now?" Lily looked at Laura who seemed to be happy.

'What's with this face?' she thought to herself.

"Yes." Laura turned to her side.

"Thank you, Mr. Reynolds. I should get going." she too extended her hand for a handshake.

"Thank you for the help and food, Mr. Williams. Hope to see you again." Brandon returned the handshake and smiled.

"Me too. Goodbye."

'WHAT THE HELL!? SHE HAD HER LUNCH AND CALLED ME OVER TO WAIT AND STARVE?' Lily was smiling at what Brandon said… but in her mind, she was screaming internally.
