Fire And Flame

"Good morning class." A lady in her mid forties walked in the classroom holding a fat file with a water bottle on top.

"Good morning, Miss." all students stood up and and wished the beautiful old lady.

"What the hell? Why is she so early today? We had Sir Parker's today first, right?" Lily's eyes widened and she pinched Laura in her arm.

"Will you stop that? It hurts… oww..." Laura hissed and rubbed her arm. If only Lily could get a chance in pinch wrestling, she would have been the top wrestler of all time.

"Today is Monday. How can you not remember the time table?"

"But I clearly saw that it was Sir Parker's class today." Lily scratched her head in confusion.

"We have Sir Parker's class first on Tuesday not Monday, Lily." Laura gave up all her hopes on her silly friend. This girl was truly an epitome of stupidity. Indeed.

"The whole universe is conspiring against me. You know how scary Miss Clark can get at times?" Lily shuddered while remembering the last time her teacher had called her mom for not submitting two assignments on time.

"Alright, students. As I mailed you all that we have our science report submission today, I will call you roll number wise. Keep your report ready." Miss Clark took a sheet of paper from the fat file. It was the attendance sheet which had the student names roll number wise.

"Roll number 1." she called out the first student.

"Present, Miss." a tall boy stood up from his seat.

"Come with your report. Bring your diary along as well just in case you haven't done your assignment yet." she ordered.

The boy handed her his report.

"Good, next roll number 2." she kept on calling the roll numbers serially.

"Damn! The next is yours and then mine, Laura!!" Lily freaked out.

Laura unzipped her school bag and took out two files. Keeping on her desk, she passed the other to Lily.

"How did we become friends? Tsk" Laura couldn't help but curse her stars. Her friend was too irresponsible. But she loved her the way she was.

"Oh my God! Laura!!" Lily squealed.

"Lily, I suppose you have not completed your report. Again. Come with your diary and open page number 23. Roll number 25, Laura, come with your report." Miss Clark stared at the two.

"Yes, Miss." Laura obediently followed the order. Lily followed Laura.

"Good work, Laura. You never fail to impress me. You deserve an A for your hard work." the teacher was very impressed by reading the report. She immediately signed on the cover page and wrote an A, encircling it.

"Lily, your diary please. You may go to your seat, Laura." she smiled at Laura and then all of sudden glared at Lily.

"What are you waiting for? Diary please." she moved forward her right hand asking for the diary.

She was surprised to see a file on her hand instead of a diary.

"Miss, I have completed the task today. Here is the report you asked for." Lily's face broke into a huge grin.

"That's so rare to see Lily complete her task on time. Let me find out the mistakes." Miss Clark scanned through the file for five minutes but she couldn't find a single mistake.

"Good job. Did you do it yourself?" she was amazed.

"Yes, Miss. I spent the whole night typing this report. I researched a lot and didn't sleep enough. I deserve an A for this." Lily was proud.

'She spent the whole night!? Research? How can you lie so confidently, Lily!!' Laura facepalmed.

"Well, this really deserves an A." Miss Clark signed the report and Lily happily went back to her seat.

"Thank you so much, La La Land!" Lily's was overwhelming with happiness.

"La La Land? Huh??" this was something Laura didn't expect.

"You owe me a treat. McDonald's." she wouldn't miss a chance to have free food from Lily.

"Anywhere! I will take you to the five star hotel nearby if you want! I am so happy!!" Lily whispered loudly. She was truly very happy and felt lucky to have a best friend Laura.

Laura grinned at what Lily just said.

"Alright, I wish to go eat in the Golden Star Hotel, now that you have mentioned that you would treat me in a five star hotel." she flipped her hair.

She felt a sharp pain in her arm. Again.

"I was joking. McDonald's it is." Lily had indeed pinched Laura's arm.

"Fine!" Laura gave up.
