Wen Ran was still in shock and unable to come to her senses. Her consciousness was suddenly swept by his strong aura. Her eyes widened, and, reason, which had just returned, left again.
On the bedside table, the phone vibrated, accompanied by a loud ringing. It interrupted the romantically ambiguous ambiance of the room in an instant.
Mo Xiuchen frowned, let go of Wen Ran, turned and walked to the bed, picked up the phone, and went to the cloakroom.
Wen Ran’s legs felt like jelly. She felt weak. Her heart was beating frantically, as if it was about to jump out of her chest, and the tingling sensation on her lips reminded her of what Mo Xiuchen did just now.
She couldn’t understand. He had a condition, and yet… How come…
Moreover, just now he…
He didn’t seem to have been inflicted by some kind of a condition.
When Mo Xiuchen came out of the cloakroom, he was already dressed in a long-sleeved button-down shirt and trousers. With a refreshing and sophisticated personality, he appeared handsome and elegant.
Seeing her still standing there in a daze, he said nonchalantly, “I have something to attend to outside. You go to bed.”
“Oh…,” Wen Ran uttered. That was all she could manage. She looked at Mo Xiuchen in disbelief. Her red lips twitched, as if she wanted to say something, but she didn’t dare to open her mouth. She was disheartened to learn that he was going out, but also relieved that they wouldn’t share the same bed…at the moment.
Mo Xiuchen saw her hesitating to speak. His eyes narrowed and asked, “Is there a problem?”
Wen Ran blushed, then quickly shook her head and waved her hands. “No, it’s okay. You go.”
“Okay.”
Mo Xiuchen’s gaze focused on her blushing cheeks for a moment, then he walked away.

At eleven in the evening, G City had just come to life. At ‘Time’ bar, a bunch of drunken people, professionals and nonprofessionals, were enjoying themselves, looking for comfort.
Mo Xiuchen stepped into the bar’s door, and, through the dim colorful lights, he saw Gu Kai sitting in the corner. A blonde girl approached him, trying to make small talk.
Gu Kai ignored the blonde girl. The latter had to leave in anguish. Mo Xiuchen walked to the table, pulled the chair away, and sat down. Then he joked, “The girl just now looks quite pretty. Why did you ignore her?”
Gu Kai glanced at him, leaned back, and answered “That Cheng Jia, was that the little girl who saved you back then?”
Hearing this, Mo Xiuchen frowned slightly, picked up the glass of wine on the table and took a sip. “I’m not sure,” he said. “She said that she was a child so she didn’t remember at all.”
In the morning, Mo Xiuchen called Gu Kai. Gu Kai was in the operating room, so Mo Xiuchen left a message, telling him that he had found a girl with a mole on her jaw and asked him if he wanted to see her.
Gu Kai had been doing an operation for more than 10 hours, and he found him after getting off work.
Hearing what he said, he contemplated for a moment and then spoke, “It’s normal not to remember. You were 11 years old and remember everything, but the little girl was only five years old.”
“So five-year-olds have short-term memories?” Mo Xiuchen replied.
Mo Xiuchen’s face turned serious. His eyebrows furrowed. Although Cheng Jia’s age and appearance corresponded to his memories of the little girl, he didn’t remember what happened back then, so he wasn’t sure.
The most important thing was that he might be prejudiced and have that kind of feeling towards Wen Ran, but on the contrary, he has a dislike for Cheng Jia, just like he did towards any normal woman.
Gu Kai shook his head. “This situation cannot be generalized. I want to meet Cheng Jia,” Gu Kai expressed.
