Chapter 74: Get New Clothes for Cold Weather

“Miss, don’t bully Xiao Nie and Xiao Zhuang anymore; they are here to learn swordsmanship.”

Helplessly patting Gu Nan’s shoulder, Xiao Lu reminds her of what should be done.

“Mm-hmm.”

Like a fish flailing and struggling on the bank, Gu Nan bends and stretches out her body on the mat.

Kneading her waist, Gu Nan straightens up her body and looks at Wei Zhuang.

“Fine, if you are in such a hurry, I will teach you two moves first.”

“I am not in a hurry.” Wei Zhuang says pretending to be indifferent. “If you are willing to teach, I will learn, and that is it.”

Then he gives Gai Nie a fierce glance. “Don’t listen to him.”

“Thud.” One hand pressing against Wei Zhuang’s head, Gu Nan forcefully turns his head toward her.

Little kids are truly troublesome. That Ghosty geezer must be leaving them to me because he could not handle them.

Then, with a gloomy expression she looks at Gai Nie. “And you come over and sit here too.”

Looking at the two children sitting in front of her, Gu Nan kneads in between her eyebrows in upset.

“It was your master’s arrangement to leave you to my discipline for the purpose of testing on your temperament. But it appears that you performed poorly under my examination. You lack resilience as well as patience. Well, it is not completely your fault given your young age at which you should be active.”

“Also, it is meant to temper you. Not everyone is as easygoing as your master or me. Pursuing sword path is like acquiring knowledge, which requires courtesy and humility.”

Gai Nie and Wei Zhuang then becomes aware of it. No wonder they had to do the dirty and hard works in the manor these days. It must be intentional since they have not seen any servant in the house.

Xiao Lu, painting fairy, and Lao Lian all do things at the manor at will, not looking like servants at all.

Actually, they have exaggerated what they saw in their mind. This house indeed does not have any servant only because Gu Nan’s meager salary can only afford food and daily uses, nothing else.

So, it was our master’s intention. Thinking of their master’s style and manner, the two kids find it reasonable and nod.

“Hum,” Wei Zhuang snorts, as if unsatisfied by what he presented before.

Leaning his chin on his palm as if pondering over something, Gai Nie asks all of a sudden: “Senior sister, you said that we should be humble when pursuing our sword path, but why were you acting in that way to the master?”

“Puff.” It is laughter from Xiao Lu and painting fairy.

“Cough!” Gu Nan lets out a dry cough and looks at Gai Nie.

These two are both problem children…

Gu Nan subconsciously twitches her eyes, confirming her suspicion that the Ghost Valley Master left two troubles to her.

After the children settled down in the manor, the Ghost Valley Master told her that he will take them back before he disappeared.

Who knows where he has gone now? Maybe he is sleeping at some old lady’s place at the moment.

“Atishoo!” Sitting by the lake with a sword in his arms, in meditation, the Ghost Valley Master sneezes, and then touches his nose frowning.

Did I just catch a cold?

“Atishoo!” Then comes another one, which almost shakes the sword off his hands.

The Ghost Valley Master looks up at the sky suspiciously.

Well, I will have to get some new clothes tomorrow in the city…

Should he know that Gu Nan were smearing him behind his back, he would have struck her down while screaming losing dignity in his closing years.

Gu Nan sits under the tree, Wei Zhuang and Gai Nie standing in front of her, their swords back in their hands.

The two six- or seven-year-old children wielding swords as long as their own height with serious expressions on their face look really weird.

That old man Ghost Valley master definitely got a nerve by giving them qin swords that are almost ninety centimeters long. The two children are only one hundred and twenty centimeters in height, and even though they can somehow hold the swords firmly, they probably cannot wield them effectively.

While laughing, she pulls Xiao Lu beside her.

“What is the matter, miss?” Xiao Lu looks at Gu Nan with a bizarre look.

“Go get me two thick firewood, about…this long.” Saying so she gestures a length of almost 60 centimeters.

“Hmm.” Xiao Lu does not know what Gu Nan wants them for, but still nods in compliance. “Got it.”

Saying so she trots away. She never delays requests made by Gu Nan.

After making the arrangement, Gu Nan turns to look at the two disciples in front of her.

“Tell me about your age, your swordsmanship, and the devices you good at.”

The two holding their swords salute at the same time: “Understood.”

Then, Gai Nie speaks first: “Gai Nie, five years old, been learning the Vertical Sword, also good at Vertical Swords.”

Following Gai Nie is Wei Zhuang: “Wei Zhuang, six years old, been learning the Horizontal Swords, good at Horizontal Swords.

Upon saying so, he glares at Gai Nie as if refusing to admit that he is inferior.

Gu Nan of course has noticed their small movements, but does not pay attention to it, since little kids fighting and competing for a win is common and hence not a big deal.

“I have learned some of the Horizontal and Vertical Swords. But I only spent three months on them, and so what I learned is but the basics. I am afraid that I am not as good as you are in terms of devices.”

Hearing Gu Nan, Wei Zhuang and Gai Nie cannot help but think of the thirteen swords Gu Nan delivered yesterday.

They only recognized the first and last swords, and as for the rest were but a blur to them.

They instantly clear their mind upon thinking so. If one can acquire swordsmanship as deadly as hers, they would not need any device at all.

“What I can teach you is no more than what the predecessors said or my own experiences, and I don’t know if they are good to you.”

“However, since the old man left you to me, I will for sure teach you everything I know. As for how much you can absorb or should absorb, they are matters completely up you.”

“Many thanks to the senior sister.”

Wei Zhuang and Gai Nie speaks in unison.

This is taught by the Ghost Valley Master as well. He told them to call Gu Nan senior sister more often to get closer to her, as this person is so lazy that they have to learn to get words out of her mouth.

“Miss.” Xiao Lu stops at Gu Nan’s side holding firewood, gasping for air.

“I have gotten the firewood.”

Gently smiling at Xiao Lu, Gu Nan reaches out and wipes off sweat on her forehead. “It is not an urgent request, so you don’t have to always be in a hurry. We don’t have so many matters to attend to at the house anymore.”

“That is easy to be said.” Xiao Lu rolls her eyes. “If I am idle just like miss, who else here can cook, clean up the house, take care of affairs…”

“Ah, hahaha, is that so…” Gu Nan grabs her hair awkwardly.

Then, Giving Gai Nie and Wei Zhuang a stare, she bursts: “Do your practices!”
