What should I do…?

I was currently standing at the front door of my house.

Well, it’s not that I didn’t forget my key.

If I did, I would be in a position to ask someone to open the door from inside.

However, I just couldn’t take a step forward.

I had forgotten to contact Shiori-chan.

Nishiyama had asked me to change my shift, so I had to work for two more extra hours. I should have called her beforehand to let her know, but I completely forgot.

I usually don’t call even when there is a change in my work hours. It seems that this habit of mine has come out.

If I was going to be late, I would have called, but it was only for two hours, and I hadn’t thought about calling.

Then, I arrived home and now I’m still trying to figure out what’s going on.

I took a couple of deep breaths and prepared myself. I unlocked the door and put my hand on the doorknob.

“I-I’m home…”

As soon as I weakly reported my return, the door to the living room opened.

But what came out of it was a sharply glowing crescent moon. The tip of the knife was the first to appear, and Shiori-chan appeared to follow it.

“O-Onii-san, welcome back!”

“I’m scared, that’s scary, I’m afraid! Don’t come towards me with a knife!”

Shiori-chan came rushing towards me with a knife in her hand and wearing an apron.

I opened my hands and appealed to Shiori-chan to be still.

“Ah, I’m sorry. I was in the middle of cooking.”

“I see… Erm, that’s dangerous, so return it to the kitchen.”

“It’s okay. I’m used to handling knives.”

Shiori-chan smiled and leaned forward to close the distance between us.

“More importantly, Onii-san, what were you doing leaving me alone?”

Her expression was soft, but her eyes were not smiling at all.

“What do you mean… I was working, though?”

“You work until 4:00PM, right? But it’s past 6:30PM right now. That’s a bit strange, isn’t it~♪?”

“About that… I had to switch shifts, so I worked until 6:00PM. I totally forgot to call you…”

“We agreed on the rule of cohabitation that we should keep in touch with each other, right?”

“W-We’re just living together.”

“We’re living together. Onii-san and I are also dating.”

Hey, are you sure that’s going to happen?

Even though it’s just a trial, a man and a woman in a relationship are living together under the same roof.

If that’s the case, then it’s safe to say that we’re living together, maybe.

“Well, anyway…”

“Oh, I digress.”

“Really, it’s just my part-time job. I’m sorry I forgot to call you.”

“If sorry was enough, we wouldn’t need the police.”

Shiori-chan puckered her lips in front of her and stared at me with half-open eyes.

“You’ve trained me to wait quietly until you get home from work, but now you’re coming home late and not letting me know, Onii-san is a devil.”

“Ugh… I-I’m sorry.”

“So Onii-san must put me in a good mood.”

“And by that, you mean…?”

She raised the corner of her mouth and dropped her eyelids when I fearfully asked her the details of what Shiori-chan meant by good mood.

Her lips pouted slightly, exposing her unprotected face.

“N-No, I can’t do that.”

“Mou~, Onii-san doesn’t have the right of veto. Perhaps, something different? What can you do that will satisfy me more than a kiss?”

“…Eh, uh… That’s right. Then I’ll spoil you.”

“Eh?”

Perhaps my comment was unexpected, Shiori-chan tilted her head and made a dumbfounded sound.

I took off my shoes, closed the distance between us, and gently stroked her head for starters.

“…Wha!? You’re treating me like a child, aren’t you, Onii-san?”

“Huh, I swear it’s pretty effective when I do it to Yuzu…”

“You’re not treating me like a child, but a little sister! That’s the worst one!”

“Sorry… I’ll think of something else.”

“Oh, why are you quitting? I’m not saying I don’t want to.”

“Really? Well then─”

When I patted her head, Shiori-chan’s face broke out in happiness. She left her body in my hands.

“You have to pamper me as much as you can, Onii-san.”

“Okay. But first, that knife is dangerous, so let me take it back to the kitchen.”

“Oh, I totally forgot about that.”

“Don’t just forget about it… It’s really dangerous, you know…?”

I reprimanded her gently and got rid of the problem.

No, I really need to pamper her from now on.

It was my own idea, but it was a heavy burden. As I stroked her head, I wondered how I could satisfy Shiori-chan.
