Forget Me Not

Chapter 3 - Second Male Lead

Lynne stared at his mesmerizing blue and brown eyes and then at the rest of his appearance. Her gaze shifted from curiosity to fascination.

"Un," She made a small sound of appreciation, 'As expected of a fictional character, second male lead looks much more pleasing to the eye than his real life actor.'

Back in reality, his actor was under controversy for being unbearingly ugly after erasing his makeup. He was only chosen because of his natural mismatched eye colors and handsome face, but his ex girlfriend released pictures of his b.a.r.e face. Needless to say, Lynne thought the power of makeup was astonishing. His pictures made it to the top of every news website due to the angered fandom, hence how Lynne found out about the existence of this book.

'What was the book called again? Melodies? Melon? Massage?' Lynne tried to recall the book's title, but all she could remember were the pictures of the actor's b.a.r.e face.

"Miss Lynne? My wrist please?" Zenon's soft whimper brought Lynne out from her deep thoughts. She stared at his pouty face and lifted her eyebrows as she analyzed his face again.

"Too much baby fat. Probably needs a year or so to reach maximum potential," Lynne mumbled out loud in disappointment, ignoring him.

"..." Zenon maintained a refined smile on his face as he tried to twist his wrist out from her grasp once he saw that she ignored him. Unfortunately for him, nobody has ever managed to escape from Lynne once she's caught a part of their body. He frowned inwardly when he realized how strong she actually was.

"Ew, feels like a wiggly caterpillar," Lynne flung his arm out in disgust and then wiped her hand on her white skirt, finally freeing Zenon.

Zenon silently watched his hand pitifully fall back into place, five bright red finger marks clearly visible. "... Will you really not join the final performance our class is leading?" Zenon shrugged off the whole situation and jumped straight into the reason why he even approached someone like her in the first place.

'Pfft!" Lynne laughed loudly, 'So the teachers thought that sending second male lead to convince me would work? How entertaining.'

She waved her hands disdainfully. "Won't participate. How many times must I repeat myself?" She clicked her tongue. Although she thought the situation was funny, these characters were getting annoying with their persistent attitude.

"Are you—" Zenon started off hesitantly but stopped talking after he saw her frustrated glare, "Understood. I'll go inform the teachers of your final decision."

"Finally, some peace and quiet," Lynne sat back down and looked out the window again. Her mood worsened when she realized that the bird feeding session had long ended.

Zenon gave her one last sweet smile before leaving the classroom, waving to a few girls on the way out like he was some kind of world famous celebrity. The moment he left the classroom, however, Zenon's sweet smile was instantly replaced by a mischievious one. His eyes twinkled in amus.e.m.e.nt as he headed down to the teacher's room.

'How intriguing,' He snickered as he walked with his hands burrowed deep into his pockets.

...

Ever since Zenon left the room, Lynne received hateful glares from the girls in the classroom. Even her usually uninterested seat mate was furiously staring at Lynne. They all had a similar thought running through their minds: 'How dare she so casually touch Sir Crowley and compare him to a caterpillar?!'

If Lynne knew what all the girls were thinking, she would only laugh and call them delusional fangirls. They would probably treat his shit like gold too.

*Ding* The bells rung again.

"Alright back in your seats," A grandpa walked in this time holding a crane as he staggered to the front of the room. The students who left the room during the break wiggled around him and rushed to their seats, within the small crowd stood a defeated looking Amelia and Ruby.

'Oof. Look at that expression on our dear antagonist's face. Bet she wasn't lucky enough to run into second male lead! I wonder what kind of fuss she'll end up kicking up this time,' Lynne had an eager look on her face as her eyes followed the motion of these two characters.

"Turn your textbooks to chapter 19–" The grandpa gasped out with a trembling voice.

*Slam*

The classroom door opened abruptly as Zenon walked in with an apologetic face, causing all the girls' faces to redden either from excitement or admiration. After seeing the second male lead appear, Lynne's eager expression became much more apparent. 'The second male lead in the same classroom as the antagonist?! Oh boy this just got much more entertaining,' Lynne watched as Zenon sat in the second row directly behind Amelia.

Directly. Behind. Amelia.

'Hah! This plot is just way too convenient!' Lynne criticized the lazy writing of the story with a wide smile. She didn't care as long as it meant more entertainment for her.

As expected, the two characters didn't disappoint her.

"I look forward to working with you from today onwards Mr. Hero," Amelia's loud, unrestrained voice echoed throughout the large classroom, "Lynne gave me her role as the heroine, you see?"

She flashed a charming smile as she flipped her long hair.

"Miss Amelia as the heroine? I'm flattered! I also look forward to working with you too," Zenon nodded to show that he acknowledged her. Satisfied with his gentle words, Amelia smiled and turned back to focus on the teacher's lecture. And although everyone else was focused on reacting to these superficial words, Lynne just snorted.

'Such shallowness! It wouldn't even be enough to completely cover my feet!' Lynne traced the table with her finger as she grew bored. Their... interaction was much duller (and shorter) than she had expected. Where was all the drama? The crying? The betrayal? The blossoming forbidden romance that would cause all the readers to grind their teeth in frustration but end up wanting more?!

'The antagonist in this story is rather bland. Wish she was more assertive and bitchy. Maybe even violent like her useless follower. But she has potential so 1/5 stars,' Lynne wrote an imaginary review in her head regarding Amelia's character.

She shifted her attention to Zenon. 'Second male lead also seems like a boring cliche. But since he's only appeared for a few moments and has a lot of potential, I'll rate him 1.5/5 stars. Better not disappoint me now after such a high rating.'

After seeing that those two no longer intended to have any more conversations since they both focused seriously on the lecture, Lynne frowned and started to drift off. "...Alright, time to fast forward through this monotonous portion of the story," Lynne lowered her head to the table and immediately fell asleep.

...

By the time Lynne opened her eyes again, the sky outside was much dimmer than before. She looked at the clock located in the front: 4 pm.

"... The f.u.c.k? Is school over?" Lynne looked around the nearly empty classroom in confusion. She quickly grabbed the arm of one of the students on their way out and started to question him.

"School's over?" Since she just woke up, her voice was still growly and deeper than usual.

Frightened, the student quickly nodded his head.

"What time did it end?" Her mood grew worse.

"3pm Miss Lynne. I stayed behind to clean up the classroom. The rest of the students went to the auditorium to practice for the performance," He felt suffocated under her sharp gaze and cursed at himself for staying behind so late.

Lynne held him for a moment before letting him go. He quickly dashed out of the room as if his life was threatened.

'Great. I missed all the potential interactions between antagonist and second male lead..." She picked up her own backpack and made her way out of the classroom, cursing at herself inwardly for dozing off so heavily.

She pulled out her phone and started fiddling around with it, smoothly avoiding any leftover students roaming around in the hallways as if she had eyes on her head. She only raised her head from her phone once she reached the lower floor.

"Ah! Found my address," Lynne's mood lightened up when she found out where her character lived. And judging from its general location, it didn't seem too shabby of a place.

She continued down the staircase until she reached the first floor. It took Lynne several attempts to find the front entrance since even the first floor was unnecessarily large.

Lynne walked through the doors and curiously explored the outside until her attention was caught by a distant figure who was waving both his arms in the air excitedly.

'His hands sure move fast,' Lynne stared in fascination at the speed his arms were moving.

When she made eyecontact with the distant figure, he quickly lowered his raised arms and started running towards Lynne with opened arms.

"Wait? The f.u.c.k? Am I his target?" Lynne stared horrified as the figure seemingly came closer to her.
