After only the two of them were left in the room, Jung Won picked up the glass of juice in front of her and gulped it down in one go. Apparently, she was more nervous than she thought that she felt so thirsty. Perhaps there was a fire burning inside her body right now. It felt like she understood why people could commit murder.

In her heart, Jung Won prayed and chanted various mantras at once.

May I not strangle this person’s neck today. May I remain patient and restrained like I have been until this moment.

“Hurry up and explain.”

“You heard earlier.”

Geon Hyeong didn’t look panicked at all, instead his face looked happy.

Does this person actually realize what he’s doing? He seems to be fully aware and clearly this is all his plan. Jung Won, who couldn’t stand Geon Hyeong’s uncaring and shameless attitude, furrowed her forehead and gave him a sharp look.

“Isn’t this too much? Just now your family told us to get married.”

“Don’t worry. People like me won’t marry a woman like you.”

“Of course. People like me won’t marry a man like you either. Never.”

Geon Hyeong turned his back on Jung Won who didn’t want to lose to him and smiled a little. He was always happy to see this woman’s persistent and courageous attitude. And, ‘people like me’? How ridiculous.

Geon Hyeong feels ridiculous about what she just said and in his heart he applauds Jung Won’s equally ridiculous answer to him. Geon Hyeong and Shin Hee seemed to have found a woman that suited Geon Hyeong’s taste back then. Except for one thing.

“You know, you didn’t pass the number one requirement?”

“What do you mean?”

Ever since she set foot in this place, Jung Won really felt like she entered another world. Even though this man was speaking Korean, Jung Won had no idea what he was talking about.

“The first requirement of the woman I want is a woman who doesn’t get angry. She must have forgotten that on purpose. She deliberately wants to give me a hard time.”

“Who?”

“Never mind. You don’t need to know.”

The man who looked happy for a moment and his eyes shone brightly suddenly returned to being cold and indifferent to Jung Won…

The man nodded his head unconcernedly and admitted his own mistake. Insolent. How could I possibly feel pity and sympathy for a moment for someone like this, Jung Won regretted.

“What misunderstanding?”

“They think I caused the cancellation of Shin Hee’s wedding.”

“I don’t think it’s a misunderstanding.”

Hearing Jung Won’s sharp criticism, Geon Hyeong just shrugged his shoulders as if he didn’t want to say anything. His behavior of not agreeing and not denying seemed to have been learned from his mixed-blood friend.

“I don’t care anyway. You just solve this problem yourself.”

“Even if I beg you again?”

“I already granted your request once. Now please listen to my request.”

Jung Won said calmly. She really didn’t want to deal with this man anymore. Every time she met him, Jung Won always felt uncomfortable, angry, and like she was in danger. It was like being dragged into the middle of a deep sea where the bottom was completely invisible without using any safety equipment at all. Jung Won doesn’t know if Geon Hyeong understands this kind of feeling, though surely he doesn’t care how she feels.

“I… Please don’t bother me anymore. I am a person who has absolutely nothing to do with Kim Geon Hyeong.”

“You still don’t know? That we have a special relationship now?”

Hearing his calm yet cornered words, Jung Won reflexively shook her head. What special relationship? To Jung Won, she had wasted too much time dealing with this man.

“The money you used to pay my debt will be returned as soon as the house is sold.”

“Then where will you live?”

“We will move to the village and live in my paternal aunt’s house. My younger brother and sister will also study here until the end of this semester only.”

Jung Won said her plan confidently and earnestly. She had already chosen her way of life that would have absolutely nothing to do with this man. However, Geon Hyeong couldn’t just let her go. He and Shin Hee both needed her.

“I need you.”

“No, you don’t. What you need is not me, but the woman who ran away from her marriage. Yoo Shin Hee. You should talk to her, not act like this.”

For a few seconds, Geon Hyeong’s eyes looked panicked at Jung Won’s stern words. However, he immediately put his deadpan face back on.

“It’s too late.”

“No, it’s not. It’s not too late. That woman is not getting married either. You’d better go see her right away and restrain her.”

Even to Jung Won, who was an outsider in the relationship, it was clear that the two still had special feelings. Therefore, it was up to the two of them to resolve the issues between them. Jung Won had no intention of interfering in their love affairs.

“Do you think the two of us will be happy if we stay together?”

If he was determined to run away with Shin Hee, he could have done it by now. However, Geon Hyeong was still thinking about Shin Hee’s mother who had begged him. He and Shin Hee do have similar traits, but they have their own paths to take.

“You have a boyfriend, right?”

“No.”

“Or a future husband?”

“None. But that’s not what’s important right now.”

“Important. Because I don’t want to pursue a woman who already belongs to someone else.”

For once, Jung Won agreed with Geon Hyeong’s answer. Although he was the one who was looking for a wife with an ad in the newspaper, at least he still had feelings. When Jung Won thinks of the ‘out of wedlock child’ status attached to and bothering this man, sometimes she can understand his actions.

“Even so, I don’t want to see you again.”

Jung Won didn’t like lying to others. Especially, lying with this man.

“Then, can’t you do me a favor? So that I can live without misunderstandings like this and you don’t have to move to the village.”

“That…”

“There must be a way out if we help each other.”

Geon Hyeong immediately tried to persuade Jung Won before she could continue her sentence. This man turned out to be a person who would not give up if he had set his goal.

“Because without realizing it, we’re already involved with each other.”

Hearing that answer, Jung Won widened her eyes. Her involvement with this man was something that should never happen and would never happen again.

Didn’t they both know the meaning of that bouquet of softly scented flowers back then?

Meanwhile, in her heart, Jung Won felt that it was a great help that her younger siblings didn’t have to be homeless living on the side of the road.

When you think about it, it doesn’t seem like this man’s offer is too bad. Jung Won snorted and laughed scornfully at Geon Hyeong’s honest answer.

Geon Hyeong knew that he was indeed smart. Right now, what Jung Won didn’t know was whether her decision was really the right choice. A decision that is quite reckless and impetuous. Also, quite dangerous and materialistic. Even though there is still another way out of this bad decision, Jung Won is too caught up in the benefits in front of her eyes. Just like the village mouse who was lured by a piece of cheese placed on top of a trap.

Soon she would be living in the same house with that man for more than ten days. Now she has to pay for everything.
