Fox Tale Of A Dungeon Boss

Chapter 78: Ouch. More Ouch.

Explosions of flame ripped through the air, rock and gravel flying.

A magma golem arm fell, throwing up dust and fire.

'I was really hoping they wouldn't have aura. But focusing on a limb might've been a good choice considering that. Caution for the win.'

I was backing away, and threw out another FoxFire, aiming for their legs with 4 of them with a really high mana(25, Whew!), and the last at the crowd of Bloody Nightmares, blowing quite a few into splatters scattered about.

"Damn, for such a creepy-ass demon, they sure are weak."

The caterer blood began to form and fuse into flesh, creating Bloody Nightmares once again.

"...does ANYTHING DIE IN THIS PLACE?"

Charging demons coming at me, while I'm still throwing fireballs, Lightning, even a few needles of dark to try and slow the regeneration.

As they got closer and closer I finally erupted.

"Fine you immortal bastards! I'll fight you up close and personal!"

I created a curved blade of energy, with both heat and lightning flowing through it. Then, I began to do as I said I would: fight up close and personal.

I sidestepped some lava(yeah I said lava) and slashed at the golem, focusing on the idea of both melting through it, vibrating the lightning like a chainsaw, and thinning the kinetic force into a very slight blade, with some wind energy hidden inside to sharpen it.

My trifecta of wind, fire, and lightning forged into a katana slashed through the golem's arm, not without any effort, but still.

I managed to cut living rock and magma! Without blood aura! Holy shit!

I ducked under its other arm and threw myself backwards, landing in a backwards-somersault. After I popped back onto my feet the thrill of danger swept through me, and I quickly spun and slashed at the claws of the Nightmares coming up behind me.

And so I went, dodging and slashing as I focused. How did they move? How did they react?

I saw that the golem's limbs didn't bend at exactly the same place every time. So as sentient rock, they don't have specific joints: they can bend anywhere.

Little things like that, how a Bloody Nightmare would set its feet a bit wider apart before going for the kill, and how they didn't react as well with something came from a downwards angle.

I swept my blade across the ground, arms near my h.i.p.s, and swung it upwards diagonally, slashing straight through the demon.

As I moved on I realized that... the demon wasn't regenerating.

And I felt... good? Like the blood-crazy, gonna-eat-my-enemies kinda good.

I felt a slight moment where the beat was there, and then it was swept away by the sudden pulse of energy in myself.

'What the HELL?'

I extended my blade by using some of this new energy(which I kinda needed cause even with my mana regeneration speed, it doesn't help if I can't get them OFF MY A.S.S), and used the new blade length to reach the neck of a demon previously out of reach.

You ever try aiming an extendible sword? It's... frustratingly difficult. I actually nearly missed stabbing straight through it's neck. The curve along the blade really did not help.

I used the extension to help rapidly change it into a fighting staff, with a blade on either end, and I swung it slashed out of the Nightmare's neck, and I slashed at the next.

A scratch along my cheek, on my ribs, some lava that came a smidge too close, etc. I was getting injured. I kept trying to push harder, but I just couldn't seem to get to that same place I'd been before.

I was stuck lagging a step behind. No, not even a step, a half-step at best. It was infuriating to be so close yet not be able to just BE THERE.

As I killed the demons physically, they seemed to become truly dead for some reason, and red-black energies would slowly drift into me from them. I dunno why that is, probably something to do with the nature of the Abyss, but I'm a little busy to be thinking about-OUCH!

"Crack!"

A solid arm of rock(yay) slammed into my guy and practically LAUNCHED ME. It's funny when people rag doll in video games. Doing it in real life just freaking hurts.

'Oh... god... that hurt. I heard a crack... ouch.'

I tried to push myself up, and pain shot through my ribs so suddenly I nearly collapsed.

I grit my teeth against the burning sensation and looked down.

My clothes were burned away in a few places, but right there was the biggest one. My skin was blackened and burnt, bits of muscle near-visible, and I could see a few bumps indicating broken ribs.

A wave of sudden cold, clammy and awful, hit me and nearly bowled me over as I went lightheaded. I started to shiver, but it hurt even more as my body freaked out from shock.

I desperately looked to see where the threat had gone, only to see that they were NOT giving me a break. I couldn't duck under the attacking Nightmare with this, so I just kinda fell backwards, landing with a heavy thud.

Black began to eat away at the edges of my vision as I slammed into the ground, near-passing out from pain.

I took a desperate breath. 'Come on, stand up! Do something!'

I... relaxed. Every muscle in my body relaxed as I went limp. And then, I took a breath.

I swung up, doing my best not to aggravate the burnt muscles and broken ribs, going past the pain.

I bent my arm at the elbow to aim, because bending my shoulder would've pulled on those muscles, and used FoxFire to fire at the demons before me. Then I turned my head, and using my other arm, created an arrow of fire and kinetic force to launch at the one who had leapt over me as I fell.

I then heard many loud slams.

"BAM! BAM! BAM!"

I felt the ground shake repeatedly as I looked up to see a magma golem charging me with a shoulder lowered in a straight-up football tackle.

I tried to take a step away, only to find empty air as it was one of the many cliffs and crevices in this hell.

'Oh are you F.U.C.K.I.N.G kidding me-'

"SLAM!"
