From Slave To Ruler

Chapter 38 - Arena Fight!

It has been a few days since Aaron entered the Arena, and so far his primary aim is to keep a low profile. I mean, he died and reincarnated on another man's body. It isn't even certain that he is in the same world anymore. He could be anywhere for now. He can't really tell until he gets access to some history books.

The second reason of why he kept a low profile, is because he is way too underqualified to actually step on the Arena Battlefield and wield a Sword against an opponent. He can't even hold a sword right(Plus he randomly picked his Sword). The teacher though, Athendurus Mihura indirectly adores him.

Admiring the fact that Aaron proved himself smarter compared to the rest. But he literally has no idea what he is doing. So he won't be fighting in the Arena anytime soon, especially since he is struggling with his Swordsmanship primarily. But he seems to understand EarthQuaker moves just a little bit more. Him and Tristan Black Bear have been exchanging tips. Well mostly Tristan but still.

However, Aaron isn't the main focus on this chapter. He won't be risking his neck in the Arena for now but another man will, well this man won't be actually risking anything since he will be fighting against a low rank almost skill less Ground Tapper. This BearBlooded Beast goes by the name "Black Arrow." His primary skill set is of course related to his name. Archery. He is a Superior at it(Level 6 out of 6), but here in the Arena, this extraordinary skill is unfortunately worthless.

Why? Well, archery isn't allowed in the Arena. Because it is considered both an upper advantage or a lower advantage. The Arena officials don't allow it because it makes the battle less interesting. Because the fight would either be too short or too long with not enough action in between on either way. And people come here for the action, not for a quick match.

He currently holds an unofficial rank as the strongest Bear Blood in the Arena grounds! Chances are, this 37 year old prodigy will survive long enough to become a Grandmaster(Level 7 with his EarthRipping Powers), the possibilities are high since now he already is a Master(Level 6)! Athendurus Mihura even swears by it, he swears that BlackArrow won't go down easily. Because after giving BlackArrow a few tests, he was sure that this skillful man will survive to become way more than an Arena Champion(Level 6). even after acknowledging that Blackarrow ranks as Calm Feet(Level 3) in Swordsmanship. Okay, now enough about ranks.

It's worth clearing out that BlackArrow has the honour to be the first ever BearBlood to enter the Arena Battlefield. Sure these BearBloods managed to peek through a few Arena fights since there is one almost everyday, but no BearBlood entered the battlefield yet. They need to be ready.

As mentioned in another Chapter, the training room is underneath the audience seats. One Wooden door in the training rooms leads exactly to the Arena Battle Ground. But of course for the match to officially begin, different doors, or specifically Iron Gates have to be lifted from both teams after the announcer finishes his introductions. That's cleared out now, lets move to the actual battle.

When BlackArrow reached that Iron Gate, it was like an unspoken rule for the announcer to do his part. But without a bow to aid him in this glorious battle, what is Black Arrow carrying instead? Well, something that doesn't look too dangerous. It isn't too big, and it isn't small enough either. He is carrying an 80 centimeter long enhanced Iron Sword. This specific Sword costs 500 Bronze Coins. That's rather expensive, but Athendurus never minded it since the profit of which the audience will bring  because of Black Arrow will far outmatch even the most expensive Sword in the average market.

"Ladies and Gentleman! Today we find ourselves in a Legendary battle! I know what you are here for, and you know exactly what I'm talking about! But for any of you for some reason don't know it, for the first time ever in our Arena Grounds covered with blood, fear and tears. A non Kasteremas joined the battle!" The announcer's voice was roaring strong, and he captured so much attention with his thick loud tone. But in this audience holding hundreds to thousands of people, how could he be heard? In a rather smart way actually. The Announcer was yelling into a large horn, stretching around 4 feet long, spreading wide at one end and thin on the other.

"Booooooooooo!"

"Boooooooooooooooooo."

One of the people in the Audience even threw a Bronze Coin towards the yellow team's gate. Specifically the team of which BlackWind fights for, trying to hit him. But what would a coin do? It didn't even reach the gate.

"Boooooooooo!"

"Booooooooo!"

Another man threw a fist like rock at the Iron Gate! It had no chance of hitting Black Arrow though since the gate's Iron Bars were too close together, a couple of inches apart. Even if the stone managed to hit BlackWind, it wouldn't really cause any damage worth talking about.

The Audience's roar was so strong, that the Announcer's voice got lost with the crowd and made no difference no matter how much he yelled. He yelled from the top of his lungs but had no chance against the deafening crowd.

When crowds become uncontrollably loud like this, there is a solution in this Arena. And it isn't violence if that's what you think. Over the top audience's seats all over the Arena, there are large metal plates hung under thick sturdy lumber. There are tens of them.

When the Patrol Guards notice the crowd getting too loud, they waste no second with hitting those plates with large 5 Kilogram Hammers. It took a couple of minutes to calm the crowd down, but once the top patches started stopping their booing and covering their ears, more people stopped booing which led to them hearing the commotion coming from above. Leading to them too covering their ears too, and so the cycle continued until the crowd calmed down. It was quite a hassle, since the audience is far from the usual today thanks to spread rumors about a Bear Blood fighting in the Arena.

Finally, the announcer was able to continue what he was taught to say. He took a sip of water to tame the burning sensation on his throat, and continued. "Standing 5.8 feet tall on the yellow team's gate is a BearBlooded man only known as "Black Arrow!" Yellow was even the colour of the yellow thin stream like cloth on his helmet which blew in the wind, stretching a couple of feet long. On his Sword too! His helmet and Sword was the only Iron on him since he is a low rank Ground Tapper.

Since people wanted to watch the BearBlooded man die as soon as possible, the booing was shorter this time and the announcer could still be heard. "Not a fan? That's alright." The crowd wasn't exactly told about Black Arrow's skillset. They have just been told that a Non Kasteremas was fighting today, specifically a BearBlood. So they considered that the BearBlood would never win, they all betted on the Taller more muscular looking Kasteremas man. "On the Blue Team's gate, a brave warrior has recently entered the Arena! A Ground tapper but no doubt worthy of a far more better title. My crowd, meet "IronTooth!"

His name wasn't a coincidence! This opponent from the blue team had pure Iron teeth all over his mouth. With dental technologies very weak here, imagine the suffering this man went through to get a mouthful of these teeth for show.

"Our hero stands 6.2 feet tall and will be squashing this worthless BearBlooded fool today who could've chosen to be left to rot in the Castle Dungeons!" At this point, the announcer simply tamed the crowd with the words they wanted to hear, in this way he would be clearing the name of any Arena official. Reasons behind it? He knew that Black Arrow wouldn't fail, he knew of the upcoming profit due to the large betting gap. It might sound like a scam, but in fact they were using the racism of which covered these people's hearts to make a good strong profit. Smart, isn't it? Fooling fools. "So without further ado my crowd. Let the Battle Begin!"

After that, the crowd went wild. The cheers were strong and the boos were even stronger. It was all mixed up, confusing and deafening too. But it all stopped when the Iron Gates were lifted up, signifying that the battle began.
