Chapter 40 - Jebaited

The economic space shuttle arrived at Extollentiam Cadere. Also known as pride's fall. Many people have been known to jump off of steep cliffs after failing. Pressure was high to pass, as just the ticket to this planet was about 100 grand. This didn't include the ticket to join M2 registration. As the shuttle landed, a guide led the passengers to a lady who quickly fave out IDs to people. They were then shuffled into a room with around 20 people. A line was slowly going into a hall, and David sat by himself. He had already sent Gerald to Bryan, because David didn't need the man power. As David walked into the room, it grew dark. The room shifted and moved, until a room full of potential students appeared. Thousands upon thousands creating a massive amount of noise. Many different kinds of aliens were about, with humanoids making up about half of them. Humanoids were one of the most criminalized races in the world, because they were half man half alien. The alien species would not consider them, and the humans would mock them. David ignored this, because he couldn't change anything right now. As the minutes ticked by, a person walked in silencing everyone.

"Hello students, I am instructor Bryant your proctor for this stage of the registration,".

Silence echoed throughout the room. This female instructor was exercising her aura against everyone giving those without Elms to feel chills down their spine followed by sweat. It was like a cold wind blowing in a sealed room.

"First test is simple, follow me,".

The instructor turned around and jogged. The dark tunnels gave people little light and almost no indication of when it would end. Kilometers after kilometers were being eaten up by the group. Some weaker students were saved by instructors after they collapsed. Some parts of the tunnels were blazing with heat, while others were frozen, with icy floors. The group that had been made of thousands was rapidly degrading into the hundreds. Student after student, falling down, only to get picked up and shuttled by instructors.

David was coasting. He had Dragon regulate his body temperature, breathing, and condition.

Eventually the tunnel was turning into a steep incline. Dragon calculated that this portion alone was 10 kilometers. Even David was sweating after that, and there was still more to go. There were around 500 people left, and yet the worst had yet to come.

"HALT," Instructor Bryant yelled.

The group stopped as she menacingly turned around with an evil expression.

"All those who pass this point are signing a death warrant," Bryant finished and papers fell out of the sky. Some people left, but most stayed with fervent eyes as they put their signatures onto the paper which were left inside of a box. As they marched forward, Bryant laughed and ran ahead.

All hell broke loose.

Lasers shot at the instructor, along with rockets, and blanks. The noises were deafening, but Bryant seemed ok as she skirted across the surface. Half the students left right then and there. The other half ran forwards. They nervously inched or ran their way across the chasm of traps. Yet there were no traps.

"You retards, I triggered all the traps," Bryant yelled out laughing at the people who quit at the last moment.

"Congratulations students, you've past the first stage," Bryant said while disappearing behind a door.
