In the town of Islia, Princess Piña Co Lada is currently at a tavern, sitting at a four-person table. She is not be alone, three other warriors of her Rose Order of Knights unit. They were forced to stop at this town because of a sudden heavy rain. It being two dangerous for the to continue.

"Well I hope this does not slow us down tomorrow." Piña says, just speaking whats on her mind.

"No worry Princess, the rain is only a delay, it will only be a matter of time before we get to Italica." Hamilton Uno Ror says to her, trying to reassure her. Hamilton is one of Piña closest and oldest friends. It is well known when you see Princes Piña, Hamilton is always by her side.

"I know Hamilton, but this also means the rest of the Rose-Order will be delayed. If we are going to ride these intruders from the other side of the Gate, we will need all of us. Every day they occupy Alnus Hill is embarrassment for the Empire."

Grey Co Aldo walks up and then sits cross of Pina, then taking a sip of his beer from the mug. "Do not worry Princess. The battle will come. Do not let your eagerness get the better of yourself." Grey, while not a Rose-Order Knight himself, he has been very loyal to the Princess. He has assigned to be her personal bodyguard, to train her and all the Rose-Order Knights.

"I know you want to prove yourself and your Knights to your father". Gray says before looking to his side, becoming annoyed.

To his side is be the last member, Norma Co Igloo. He is laughing at one of the female humanoid Cat-People, slapping his hand on her b.u.t.t. "Hey kitty." He then gives a flirtish meow to her.

As Pina roll her eyes at the event, Gray glances towards him. "That is not professional for a Knight."

Norma will just wave him off, not caring about his objection. "Ahh... it is a bit of fun. It is why I joined the Rose after all, all the pretty ladies." He laughs a little after saying that. He then starts to enjoy some thoughts in his head that are probably very inappropriate. Hearing someone say something, he then look back at everyone. "And please, don't worry. We will crush these new enemies. Chase them back to their world and conquer the ladies."

Princess Pina would just be slightly annoyed by Norma right now. He is always like that and it usually does not bother her up this is war, and on top of that, this is her one chance to prove that her Rose Order has worth within the Imperial Legion. She looks over to her right, towards everyone and see Hamilton blushing slightly, just embarrassed by him. She is a great friend but needs to build more confidence. She always hoped her time in the Rose would have done that.

"Norma, this is serious." Pina comments to him. "We have one chance at this. If we fail, our unit will be seen as a joke forever."

And then Grey will jump into the conversation. "On top of that, the only thing we know about this enemy is that they defeated the invasion force, which was at twenty fight thousand strength."

"Also, the hundred thousand force that was defending the hill. We still haven't heard from any news from our vassals." Hamilton will add. "This is definitely an interesting time for the Empire."

"Yeah yeah... Your acting like they haven't lost anything either. Didn't out latest scout report that the hill only lightly manned? They have to be at their limits." Norma will state.

Before anyone could commit, they would all hear a laugh coming from a nearby table. A man, with a big mug will be looking down at the table. "You act like victory is certain and yet you haven't faced them in battle. They have no honor and they give none."

Pina will stand up after hearing that, getting angry. "Watch who you speak commoner. We will defeat this enemy; the Empire will defeat them. We never lost a war, against all the races of our world."

He would just laugh again. This would anger Pina even more, but Grey will wave at her to calm down.

"Soldier, I take it you were at Alnus Hill?" Grey asks him.

The man takes another longer drink and look over to them, clearly no longer caring about their status. "I was there. I am all is left of my unit...." He will say as he collects himself. "They came in the middle of the night. These monster war armored, moving siege engines. I don't know what they were but the came and just slaughtered everyone around the Gate."

"I remember watching, as one of our firebombs from a trebuchet and one of thier armor wagons and... nothing... No damage. All these other... war engines came through and their warriors came out of them, firing invisible magic something, killing all of us. Our shields, our armor was worthless. We were better off n.a.k.e.d." He will say, taking a long drink until his mug is empty.

At their table, it will be quiet as everyone tries to understand or believe what he is saying.

Norma speak first. "How many did you kill? How long was the battle?"

The man will shake his head, reliving the memories. "He does not yet understand. The battle lasted for an hour, maybe two. Everyone is dead. I remember seeing General Ulr Dan taking his Cavalry, flaking. There was so few of the enemy."

The man continues to talking, splitting between talking to himself and their table. "Him and his three thousand hors.e.m.e.n got the closest but were slaughtered."

"And how did you end up here?" Hamilton asks him.

He just look at her and then laugh again. He stands up, clearly drunk. "Were all going to die." And then he will start to wobble off, drunk.

Pina will stand up angrily again. "Hey, get back here you deserter. How dare you say something like that. Norma, go get that man so he can be crucified."

Grey takes a sip form her beer and then set his hub down hard, clearly wanting their attention. "Calm down princess. Let him be."

She will look at him confused. "What? He is a disgrace."

"We got everything we needed to know from him. He is no longer any use for us. He is just a drunk sad man now. Leave him be and lets focus on tomorrow." Grey says, thinking about the new information.

Pina will think and then sit down.

"That man is full of it." Norma says. He looks at the three and see how serous they look. "You don't actually believe a word he said right? He is crazy."

"Crazy yes but he is not lying." Grey says. "I been in war, see battle. Battle can do that to someone. Watching your men be killed like that all around you can break a soldier. Now I do not know how much of what he said is true but that is not the point. The lesson is this, we are facing a enemy that directly threatens the Empire."
