  “Ah!” 

Enid suddenly thought of something and with a cheeky smile left her seat. She skipped to the entrance of the hall and took out the spook bottle she just bought from her pocket as the crowd watched. 

“Little junior brother, from today onwards I am your senior sister. Call me senior sister1!” 

Enid had been urging for this to happen for a day. 

Ryger looked at Enid who was like a carefree and happy elf, and who didn’t ask for anything from him for what she did. He felt an unspeakable warmth rising in his heart. He sincerely said, “senior sister!” 

First Auen and now Enid. People that were completely different from that of the clergyman in his town and the absence of oppression that he felt back in the Church… Ryger’s favourable impression towards scholars had already begun from those two.   

“Hahaha, little junior brother, in the future you have to be good and listen to senior sister!” 

Enid laughed happily and fiddled with the spook bottle in her hand. “Alright, junior brother, let me demonstrate what this spook bottle is for.” 

It seemed as though everybody present already knew about it. They looked at each other and smiled.

 

The black cat spitted out the fish bones humanly and licked its paws while murmuring to itself, “Still the same old trick that Peerless played back then… how time flies.”

 

Enid pulled the bottle’s cork out. The bottle shook slightly and suddenly spewed out a large stream of white smoke, engulfing Enid. All of a sudden, an oppressive force emerged, and the emotion of fear stirred from the heart. As if stared at by a fearsome beast, Ryger’s body withdrew!

 

Roar!

 

Suddenly, a horrifying roar came from the smoke.

 

Ryger stood up from his seat uncontrollably and after seeing that the crowd was looking at him with laughter, knew that he had made a fool of himself. He tried to calm himself down, and sat down again. Enid’s laughter came through the smoke.

“Kehehe, how is it? It’s fun, isn’t it?”

The white fog gradually dispersed, revealing the laughing Enid who was holding the spook bottle. 

“It’s yours now!”

“Thank you, senior sister.”

  With a thankful voice, Ryger accepted the bottle. 

Satro saw Ryger receiving Enid’s gift and restrained his smile slightly. Embarrassedly, he said, “Junior brother, your coming was too sudden and I didn’t prepare anything. Thankfully, I just happened to be carrying a set of experiment equipment. I’ll give it to you together with this spacebox as a gift to you. Just as well that you can use it in your studies! “

With a shy look, Satro took out a spacebox the size of a fist and handed it to Ryger.

“Ah!” 

Ryger was pleasantly surprised. 

It was a small box that was tens of centimeters long and was made of unknown materials. It was seemingly weightless. When Ryger opened the box, a huge space appeared in front of him suddenly. The space was filled with various intricate glass beakers, test tubes, scalpels, alcohol lamps and so on. Ryger didn’t know the exact use of these equipment. 

Back when he was in the Accipit Jungle, Ryger saw Auen take out a spaceabox and was amazed and envious. He had thought about how nice it would be if he could have one but he didn’t think that his wish would be fulfilled so soon! 

“Thank you senior brother Satro!” 

Satro only grinned, revealing white teeth and a bashful expression. He didn’t know what he should say. 

After that was Peerless. 

A black cloak that made him appear mysterious; A tall, valiant, heroic posture among them; A calm, collected aura that he revealed without noticing. Even if Peerless was restraining himself, he still uncontrollably radiated an oppressive aura. That, together with Kubo’s pride in Peerless only added to his position in the family. 

Peerless showed a faint thoughtful look. 

He then thought of something instantly. Peerless took a spacebox out from his sleeve and grabbed a delicate folding fan from it. He smiled and looked at Ryger. 

    “This is a magic folding fan that I took from an enemy mercenary group while on a mission in the Sealand Principality. Although it is now somewhat damaged and can only exert a small portion of its power, it still has many uses and suits you well during your initiation phase in the Academy.”

 

“Wow!”

 

Enid looked at the magic folding fan in Peerless’ hand with eyes full of stars and said, “Brother, did you participate in the war mission between the (Glan) Principality and Sealand again? The situation in the Principality is now apparent, right?” 

To that, Peerless looked at Enid and shook his head slightly.

“There are many scruples on both sides. I heard that the power struggle between the few princes of the Principality has reached an intense level and has affected the frontline to a great degree. While in Sealand they are currently abolishing slavery but have been met with resistance from colosseums and large slave owners. This situation is very complicated.”

 

Although he was saying that, Ryger could feel the confidence in Peerless’ eyes. It was as if everything was happening according to his plan.

“But from my point of view, although the Sealand Principality has a long history and a lot of talents, but if the fight with the Principality goes on for a long time, victory will be on our side in the end!” 

A faint sneer could be seen on Peerless’ face as he said that. He looked at Ryger and his expression turned into one of encouragement.

“Little junior brother, since you have been recognized by mentor, I hope that you will study hard and diligently in the Academy in the future to live up to his expectations!” 

“Mm!” 

Ryger accepted the magic folding fan and said gratefully, “Thank you, senior brother Peerless!” 

Kubo rolled his eyes and grunted. “I don’t expect much! Just pass the graduation test and don’t embarrass me outside like this muggle here!”  

Adva laughed. “If you don’t want your disciples to embarrass you, then pass on your skills properly, otherwise it’s also a problem on your side as their mentor.” 

“Hum…” 

The old man grunted and did not speak. 

Ryger, who had vowed to himself to work hard to gain Kubo’s acknowledgement in the future, did not mind his mentor’s contempt, and instead took it as encouragement. He will make sure that Kubo would be willing to teach him everything that he knows! 

Adva stroked Ryger’s hair and lovingly said, “As your mentor’s wife, I also want to give you a suitable gift. Wait a moment.” 

Smiling, Adva rose and walked to the second floor under the watchful eyes of the crowd.

On the side, Enid winked and gestured, “Mother has a lot of good things. I heard from senior brother Peerless that back when he was chasing after mother, father would give her things that you can’t even think of!”

Ryger had heard people say before that the lifespan of a magician is much longer than that of an ordinary person and cannot be judged by their appearance. From what Enid was saying, it seemed that Peerless was already Kubo’s disciple when he married Adva. 

Moments later, Adva walked down from the second floor with a strange book made of beast-skin in her hand.

“Ahh? Why did you bring it down!” 

Kubo’s expression was that of pain. 

However, Adva ignored Kubo and looked at Ryger warmly, “This is a notebook made of the skin of a Frostfire bird. It can be kept under extreme conditions for a long period of time. It’s yours now!

“Yes! Thank you very much!” 

Ryger took the notebook and could almost feel the fluctuating temperature coming from the notebook. It was at times cold and at times hot. 

Chink! 

Suddenly, before Ryger could react, Kubo threw a cloth bag which landed in front of Ryger. The bag emitted a sound of metals clanging. 

“This is my gift to you. It was also what my mentor gave me back then. I kept that tradition with Peerless, Satro and now you!”

Kubo’s voice was flat. 

Ryger saw the other’s encouraging expression and apprehensively picked up the cloth bag. He opened it and looked and was flabbergasted for a moment. 

    Inside the sack, there were large amounts of silver coins and some gold coins! 

Kubo pushed his black-framed glasses and said profoundly, “Starting tomorrow, go find Satro. Use that money to last through your initiate stage.”

“Ah! Mentor you…”

Ryger briefly looked at the money bag. It was not only silver coins that were inside the bag, but also 5 gold coins! 

If it was in the small town of Agate Lake, it could last Ryger for 2 or 3 years if he used it sparingly!

That much money to get himself through the initiation stage?

Ryger didn’t really understand. But after seeing Kubo’s stern look, he answered affirmatively and nodded his head. Just as he was full of confidence about his life as a scholar in the future, the black cat at the corner of the dining table meowed lazily.

“Meow, did you forget about me?” 

“Hmm!?” 

Ryger looked at the black cat. He had already received so many gifts and was like a person who struck it rich, which made him feel happy to the point where unconsciously acted slightly smugly. He said: “Oh, you want to give me a gift too, Mr Cayleigh? You really shouldn’t. Mmmm, but if you really insist on it, then something small will be enough! Heh heh.”

Enid burst out laughing. 

 Cayleigh rolled his big white eyes and said, “You wish! You’re the one that should give me a gift, you little bastard!” 

“Ahh… huh?” 

Ryger ummed and ahhed for a good moment and was really embarrassed. Hesitantly, he opened his wooden luggage and, with his face all blushing, said, “Mr. Cayleigh, this cured meat is an, uh, aged, vintage meat that was smoked by my father personally when he was still alive. It has been 5 years since then and it’s, uh, fragrance has already… hope that you will enjoy it…”

 

Cayleigh extended his paws and turned over the pitch-black piece of thing in front of him. The cat stuffed the thing inside his mouth, and made it look like it had stuck inside the mouth. Cayleigh tried to bite it, only to almost break its teeth. He shrieked incredulously, “You! You! Fuck! Are you sure this black, hard isn’t a rock and is something that can be eaten nya!”
