Godfather World

Chapter 37:Running in Angles

When Tracer and Gambler arrived at the shooting range, they almost could not believe their eyes. They knew this event was going to be special, but the sight of a hundred red eggs running everywhere and even hopping on the fallen mafia heirs would make anyone pause. It was ridiculous!

"Do we even need trash like them in the guild?" Tracer asked his partner, who hummed.

The Gambler looked at the fallen mafia heirs. These people were definitely ranked higher than Tracer. Yet, they were getting looked down upon. On the other hand, Tracer admired Zen's ability to command the guild into action when they were so lost. Without Zen's initial strategy, there would be more casualties.

Zen's gamer logic and strategy were good in coordinating for a campaign like this. However, Tracer knew that the important man could not oversee every other small battle. Not everyone in the guild was good at adapting to unusual circumstances. The yellow egg team managed somehow with Zen's prompt but the red egg team was hopeless. These combat-driven muscle heads wouldn't be able to catch a single egg even if they were given a week.

Tracer watched the guild recruits fumble for over two minutes and smirked. "Do you want to bet?"

As a gambler, of course, he wouldn't turn down a bet. "What are we betting on?"

"Your loyalties," Tracer said plainly. "If I win this bet, you'll pledge your loyalties to Zen with me using an omerta and step down from fighting for the position of the Godfather. Besides, it's not as if we had any chances, to begin with. We don't have the blood ability."

Hearing Tracer put it so plainly, the Gambler pulled a long face. "Look, I'm a simple person. I make choices based on benefits, not blind faith."

Not offended, the Tracer looked back at the fools chasing the red eggs. They might have monstrous stamina, but it wouldn't be enough to catch even a single egg without help. Gambler might have sensed it already when the event started, but there was something strange going on with Guild Carnage. However, it was merely a suspicion for now. There was no need to overwhelm the upper echelon of the guild with this for now.

"I think you will find it a worthy investment, in the long run, to pledge loyalties with Zen. I don't like taking risks either. I only act when I'm a hundred percent certain of the results."

Gambler did not ask more. For those who did not know him, the Tracer looked like a weak person who barely made it in the opening ceremony. However, after working with the Tracer for a while, he could finally understand why Zen trusted this person enough to hand him the position of a scout and information coordinator. Tracer was Zen's unofficial right-hand man in the event, smoothing out things and keeping tabs on every playing individual.

"Whatever. It's not like we have many decent choices in this hell hole. How are we doing this bet?"

Tracer smirked. He knew that Gambler would not refuse him. The more cautious a person was, the easier it was to bait them. Right now, the guild required Gambler's unique ability. He was that wildcard to turn the tide against the big three if anything happened. For Tracer, he did not trust any of the big three even if the Seer made an omerta and the Death Princess favoured him. If there was one person who would be the next Godfather among the hundred candidates that made it, Tracer would put his lots with Zen. The world needed a foolish figurehead to give it hope, and there was nobody more perfect for the role than Zen. As for the rest, Tracer was alright with dealing with the dirt business from the shadows.

"How many eggs do you think can be collected without having to chase after them?"

The Gambler paused. Was this a joke? Then again, after knowing Tracer for a while, this schemer must have a plan. Whatever number he gave, it would be up to the Tracer to manipulate the results. He wasn't going to fall for such an obvious prank.

"Not how many. If you cannot get a hundred eggs not moving from this spot, I won't put my lots in with you."

Tracer smirked. He expected no less from this person. "Deal. A hundred eggs, but you'd have to be one of my pawns. These eggs can run even after I caught them. I need you to remove their feet."

The Gambler agreed and stepped into the shooting range with a surprised huff as red eggs continued to run everywhere.

"Listen up! If you want to stop getting owned by these one pointers, you should do as I say. Zen sent me to help you, and you guys are a severe disappointment."

The Tracer's words shook everyone up. The recruits didn't like him almost at once, but the Tracer was a guild member who joined earlier than they did. He had some information they did not. It was wiser to swallow the pride first and beat him up after the event ended.

Tracer ignored their glowers and commanded everyone into position. "Now, walk in a clockwise direction taking five steps each before turning approximately twenty-five degrees for each turn."

The newly joined guild members did as they were told, and it was funny seeing six very strong warriors walk in the shooting range while glaring at the red eggs. They felt a little silly, and if the Tracer was doing this simply to mock them, there would be hell to pay.

The Gambler did not see a difference immediately. The red eggs were still running everywhere. In fact, they were constantly bumping into the legs of the recruits walking in a clockwise direction. However, after a while, something strange happened. The red eggs started running in a similar pattern, forming their own lines behind each other as the recruits continued to walk their clockwise patterns.

"It's your turn," Tracer called out to Gambler. "You can start picking them off from where you sit. Tear the legs and keep them well. Zen wants the eggs. He might want the feet too."

Grumbling a little, the Gambler did as he was told. Impressed with the teen's ability to predict the pattern so quickly, the Gambler had to admit. Both Zen and Tracer were terrifying people he didn't want to mess with. They were full of tricks, and if Gambler wanted to survive, it was better to join these people than fight alone.

The red egg gave a scream when Gambler snatched it from the line it was following. The tiny little legs were ripped off, and Tracer yawned. That was only one egg. Gambler had a lot more eggs to rip legs from.

"Reporting. Red eggs coming in a few minutes, about a hundred of them. Do you want the legs?"

Zen was in the middle of experimenting when he heard the message. Happy that the situation was swiftly resolved, he told Tracer that he wanted the eggs and legs through the guild chat, and Gambler rolled his eyes.

"I got it already! Stop staring at me like I ain't doing my job!"

Tracer chuckled and looked away. There were still recruits to assist after Gambler wrapped up around here.
