Godfather World

Chapter 44:Tides Turn

At the height of the event just ten minutes before the basilisk spawned, Guild Carnage received a very shocking announcement from the Amazonian.

"What the fuck? That bitch!" Johan swore and threw a stick of dynamite that exploded in the distance. He was so mad that he couldn't stop despite knowing that he was wasting valuable resources.

Felix, who was crouching beside him in the laundromat, growled. "That glutton… she's so dead the next time we see her."

That was a promise.

Now that they did not have enough party members, Johan and Felix were no longer part of the Party Death. Thankfully, they still had more than five people, so Guild Carnage did not disband. However, things only started going south after Ortha's departure.

The initial plan to lay in an ambush while the Seer blindly chased after their trail was now disrupted when the other scrubs in their guild reported back that they were now under attack and the last flag that Guild Carnage owned was in danger.

"Dammit!" Felix cussed, and Johan waited for orders.

"Do you want me to go?" he asked. "I should be able to wipe them out and return in time for the basilisk."

Felix thought about it. Even if Johan went, these people were only going to become liabilities. It was better if the incapable pawns died. They had a bigger fish to fry. Whatever event reward the Godfather would give, it was way better than saving a few incompetent members of their guild. At most, they could rebuild the guild even if the guild disbanded from lack of members. Felix had faith in his emotional manipulation skills. Besides, not many people remaining in the top hundred had true blood. He could easily pull the crowd to his side if he revealed this fact.

"No," he told the bomber. "If they die, that's what they amount to. We can always mass recruit, and those who do not agree to join us after we extend our invitation can become your prey in the next event."

Thrilled, Johan giggled and juggled his grenades. The basilisk would be born soon, and the bitch Oritha will be dead when they meet on the battlefield later. He hoped that she did not die as quickly. It would be such a shame to not hear her screams.

Gambler was already in position, and the plotter smirked. After today, these guys would be indebted to Zen. Revenge was best served cold, and when he gave the mark, Controlled Berserker blasted through the roof, making Party Undead scurry in all directions.

As planned, Scorpion sent her whip out to the bitch coming her way. She had no idea if this was Shadow or Ghost, but it sure as hell wasn't Siren. That slut was still screaming away in her shrill tones, heading towards Gambler's ambush.

The fierce poison mistress did not stop there, pulling her whip back and launching it towards the other bitch who was trying to escape.

Her mission was to graze everyone from Party Undead with her poisoned whip. Nobody knew if poison killed in virtual reality, but the effects definitely weren't fun to handle. The evidence was with Shredder, who was struggling in his fight against her lover. Scorpion smirked. The first bitch was done for, paralysed from pain on the ground as she gave chase to the other elusive lady.

After the attack, Siren acted quickly and sent messages to the Guild leader using their guild chat. However, when she did not receive a response, the girl started to panic. Oritha betrayed them, and now, they were under attack. Was this deliberate? Surely, Felix would not let them perish before the basilisk appeared, right?

"Felix? Felix dear, this is your Siren. Please respond… we're getting annihilated by these circus freaks now. Can we get some reinforce-"

Before the Siren could send her message with the sweetest and most pitiful tone, the Gambler struck and absorbed all her luck. Almost at once, the girl tripped on herself and looked up in shock as a piece of concrete slab came her way.

The piece of the ceiling above her collapsed from the violent shockwaves caused by Controlled Berserker's fight. The pretty songstress' ending was tragic, but the Gambler felt no pity. If anything, he was more determined to get rid of the other scout on the ground. She would die even without the Gambler's influence, but he was a cautious man. It was always better to do things by himself to confirm that the job was completed without mishaps.

Tracer watched how smoothly they decimated Party Undead in a revenge match and smirked. He felt slightly sorry for Zen, who came up with the initial no offence strategy, but this had become personal after the Shredder messed with Scorpion's boyfriend. It was also the perfect opportunity to cripple Guild Carnage. The timing could not be more perfect when Liu Feng informed the guild that there would be a new ally.

Gambler sucked all the luck from the twitching teen and watched as the poison attacked her at a quicker rate while her body underwent several complications, leading to her death. The Tracer checked the name list of candidates he could send friend requests to and confirmed that the number decreased by one when that happened.

"Stop running, bitch! Eyes on me and not on my fiancé!"

None of the men in Party Freedom expected Scorpion to yell as her whip came down in a fury when the remaining party member tried to escape despite her terrible wounds and blue lips.

Controlled Berserker looked up from the pulp that used to be the Shredder, and Tracer confirmed that the number was down by one again.

Without party members, guild reinforcements, and a chance to shine, the last member of Party Undead perished in an all-out attack by Gambler timed to the couple's coordination.

Controlled Berserk blocked her escape route with a well-timed slam to the ground, shaking the steady foothold. Gambler stood from a distance and tossed a coin imbued with the luck he stole that hit and snapped the escaping teen's ankle. Scorpion took that chance to wrap her deadly whip around the girl's neck. She didn't need to wait for the poison to take effect as she tightened her grip.

The last member of Party Undead died with a sickening popping sound as a blood fountain erupted from where her attached head used to be. The severed skull rolled onto the ground, and Scorpion stared at it with disgust when it touched her foot. The poison mistress kicked the offending object away and flicked the blood off her whip.

"Anyone hurt?" she asked, focussing more on her lover, who was now out of his battle mode.

The Scorpion offered recovery eggs, and the party reported their flag base raping success. Now that Oritha absconded from her guild and joined Zen's party, it was as good as having all the flags under their guild's name. Those who wanted to submit points had to join their guild or be ranked last.

What a brilliant strategy! How the tides have turned...
