Kazue POV

I entered the guild after going outside to complete some quests.

“Miss Kazue welcome back.”

Krisha-san, the guild receptionist welcomed me with a smile on her face.

I don’t know why but after doing several quests, she became interested in me for some reason.

I feel that she found my actions to be interesting.

I nodded at Krisha to acknowledge her.

In a way, I do find Krisha-san easy to get along with.

It’s not as if she has ill intent.

On contrary, I feel that she’s helping me earn money.

[She’s probably aware of the debt I have.]

“Certainly, I have confirmed the completion of the quest. Here’s 125,000DAL for the rewards for the quest.”

“Thank you very much.”

“Hmnn, by the looks of it, it seems that you are unable to finish the Romera Fruit collection quest.”

“Yeah, I tried so hard for these past 4 days and I could not find any Romera monsters anywhere.”

“Haha~ that happens to everyone, don’t worry. Oh… yeah before I forget.”

It seems that Krisha remembered something.

She lifted her index finger in the air.

That action looked so deliberate as she had been waiting for a chance to say it.

In turn, I listened to what she was about to say.

“The guild is recruiting adventurers to raid the kobold king’s dungeon located deep in the forest. It’s like an annual event for the adventurers in this city. The reward is good, and we welcome as many adventurers to participate as much as possible.”

“Oh~ if the reward is that good then I would love to join.”

Krisha clasped her hands in joy from my confirmation.

While doing something behind the counter, Krisha started talking.

“Originally this quest is for veteran D-ranked adventurers and we often never ask for E-ranked adventurers to join the raid. But as far as I am concerned, I assess your skills to be as good as the veteran D-ranked adventurers. To be honest I feel your skills can rival some of the C-ranked adventurers I know.”

“Hoo~ your assessment of me is quite high isn’t it?”

“Hahaha, I am quite confident in my skill to see through people.”

It came to me.

I am aware that compared to the adventurers who are of the same rank as I am, my abilities are above most of them.

Come to think of it the only E-ranked adventurer whose abilities greater than mine are probably those twins that I met in Altus a while back.

I wonder, how are my abilities compare to my senior adventurers?

How strong am I right now?

Am I in the D-rank level? Or am I in C-rank as the receptionist said before?

Well, from my experience I feel that I can compare myself to some C-ranked adventurers.

It seems that miss Krisha also thinks of my abilities to be on that level.

“The raid will be in 2 days. I suggest that you prepare for two days’ worth of supply. There will be a gathering of adventurers who are joining the raid tomorrow to discuss the plan on conquering the dungeon, be sure to join them.”

“Ok, got that.”

Krisha handed me a request form from under the receptionist's table.

“Well, good luck. Here is the quest request for the dungeon raid.”

It seems that this quest is not meant to be posted on the bulletin board outside the guild building.

[So? the guild is the one choosing the participants for this quest, I guess?]

“Well, then I’ll be going now miss Krisha.”

I turned around to leave the guild building.

[I would like to find stores to buy supplies.]

“Take care.”

Krisha wave me goodbye, I waved back and left the building.

It was late in the afternoon but at this time the shops are still open so I decided to visit the shops.

I walked for a little bit and found a shop located near the guild building.

It was a potion shop.

[Oh, come to think of it the only time I visited a potion shop is during the time I was still in the capital. I wonder what a typical potion shop looks like other than the one from Scale atelier.]

I stopped walking and had an urge to enter the potion shop.

“I guess… I’ll check it up just in case.”

I entered the shop leaving my pets outside on standby.

“excuse me”

I said as I entered the shop.

I could smell an odd eucalyptus-like smell in the air from the mixtures of scents coming around the shop.

“Welcome, what can I help you with?”

A lovely voice of a lady reverberated in my ear.

I followed the origin of the voice and saw a sweet-looking lady with blonde hair standing behind the counter located on my right.

She was wearing a thin-looking one-piece green dress.

I looked around the shop and found that just like a scale atelier the shop’s interior was larger than the size of the structure when seen from the outside.

It works similarly with shops inside the scale atelier.

Although the shop’s entrance was linked to a doorway connecting to another location.

Shaina’s workshop is the same, from what I heard from Shai the door behind the counter in her shop was connected to her workshop stationed beside her house.

“Hee~”

I let out a sound, impressed by how large the shop was.

The interior was designed like it was constructed inside a large tree.

The window was showing a dark sky.

[I am sure that before I entered it was still daytime. I wonder… was this because of this world’s time zone?]

“Uhmmm, miss?”

When I was lost in thought the sweet-looking lady called out for me.

“Oh, sorry… I was just amazed by how nice the interior was… I was caught off guard. Your place is nice.”

“Is that so? If that’s the case then, Thank you. Fufufu”

The sweet lady giggled at me.

I notice that she had long pointy ears.

Then I realized that she was not a human.

[Elf? Wow this is the second time I’ve seen an elf other than Vis-san from Yanase’s party.]

“Is this your first time visiting my potion shop?”

“Ah, yeah. The only potion shop I visited was the one at the Scale atelier.”

“Oh is that so? But that’s weird I am also a member of the scale atelier. Ah! Perhaps you visited the Imperial capital branch?”

“That’s right.”

“I see, that’s why… I haven't linked my shop there for some time. That might be the reason why I can see that you entered through the Luron branch?”

“Ah, yeah.”

“I see~ I see. How are things there?”

“I don’t know much, since I’ve only been here for 4 days. I just wanted to buy some potion since there will be a dungeon raid coming in two days.”

“Oh! Dungeon Raid! What rank?”

“Uh… from what I heard the minimum rank requirement is D-rank.”

“D-rank! Mumu, I see it’s a low-level dungeon. If that is the case… you only need low potions.”

“I guess, that’s correct.”

The sweet lady elf looked at me from head to toe, as if scanning me.

I felt a bit awkward from her gaze but I just let her be, she probably has a reason why she’s doing this.

“Mumu, from what I can see… you’re probably a swordsman?”

“uh yes.”

“I assume you want some health potion then?”

“Uhmm, mostly but I also want to buy mana potions if possible.”

“Mana potion? That’s odd. I guess you have a skill that consumes mana. Well, that’s fine, but if that’s the case I suggest that you rather have a Mana Regen Potion.”

“Mana-regen potion?”

“You don’t know what a Mana Regen potion is? That’s odd.”

[oh shoot, my lack of common sense is kicking in again.]

I did not reply and just smiled at the shopkeeper.

“Mana regen potion is a type of potion that slowly restores your mana over time. I suggested this because usually swordsman such as you tend to use “Aura Blade” which drains mana constantly, so most swordsman who constantly uses their mana during battles tends to use this rather than Mana potion which restores mana instantly.”

“I see… So, if I use the Mana Regen potion I can regenerate my mana even while I drain it while activating my aura blade skill. I see, yes, I can see the logic behind there.”

“Right?”

“Oh, just in case, how long does this Mana Regen potion last?”

“Hmnn let's see. All mana-regen potions last for 30 minutes. The only difference is how good it restores mana over time. Low-tier restores 1% mana per minute, Mid-tier restores 5% mana per minute, while High-tier restores 10% mana per minute.”

The lady explained without much effort.

[She knows her stuff.]

“I see… How much is it?”

“A bottle cost 25,000 DAL for Low-tier potion, Mid-tier cost 250,000 DAL while High-tier ones cost 1,000,000 DAL each”

“Keh, a million!”

“Fufufu, a million DAL is cheap you know. After all, only high-level adventurers would buy a high-tier Mana-regen Potion. Since it restores mana so efficiently even mages prefer using it.”

At the moment I have about 500,000 DAL from all rewards and the items I sold over the past 4 days in Luron.

I began thinking of what to buy while considering how much money I have.

Then something crossed my mind.

“Oh, right. Do potions affect familiars too?”

I asked this because I was concerned for my familiars.

There will probably be a time when one of them would get injured.

Since no one of us could use any healing magic, it would be problematic if the potion would not be able to help them restore their HP.

“It does… Wait? Miss, I thought you were a swordsman? Do you have familiars too? That’s something!”

“Hehe, even I don’t know how it happened, when I realized it, it just happened.”

The lady elf was surprised, just like everyone else.

[I knew that having a familiar as a swordsman was unique, but to think that even an Elf would be surprised, I am starting to appreciate how lucky I am to have Isamu, Hayate, and Kaori. They’ve helped me a lot too, OK, I will treat them better from now on!]

I bought the potions from the shopkeeper.

I learned her name as we exchange some casual talks.

She asked for my name so I also asked for hers.

The shopkeeper’s name was Leira, the owner and shopkeeper of the “Tree-leaves” potion shop.

As we chat, I asked about potions and learned a few things about potions.

The low-tier potion can restore 10% of my HP while a mid-tier potion restores 25% of my HP and could heal minor wounds.

A High-tier potion could restore 50% HP while being able to heal large wounds.

Lastly, Full-potion on the other hand restores 100% HP and could even heal the most serious of wounds.

It can even regrow lost limbs.

Both High-tier and Full potions cost over a million DAL so I was not able to buy one even if I wanted to.

There are also other kinds of potions such as HP Regen potions, Stat boost potions, Anti-ailment potions, Stamina potions, Elemental resistance potions, Ailment resistant potions, and many, many more.

In the end, I stayed quite a long time chatting with Leira-san.

Since she was not bothered by it but rather, she was enthusiastic about talking about potions.

I ended up learning about the potions she sells in her store in detail.

In the end, I left the shop after 3 hours.

Since I still have 10 low-tier HP potions with me, I just decided to buy 2 Mid-tier potions that cost 200,000 DAL in total.

I also bought 5 Mana-regen potions for 125,000 DAL.

As a freebie, Leira-san also gave me 1 blood coagulating potion, 1 low-tier stamina potion, and an Anti-Ailment potion because it was the first time I’d bought something in her shop.

Laira-san seemed to like me and said that she enjoyed the time chatting with me, as in exchange for this freebie, she wanted me to visit her shop whenever I need potions.

[If the lady would give me freebies from time to time, I will always look for her shops whenever I need potions. After all, it seems that she has a lot of shops all over the continent.]

I said goodbye to Leira-san before exiting the shop.

As I exit the shop, I remembered that my familiars, Isamu, Kaori, and Hayate were waiting for me.

When I got out of the potion shop, I saw them sleeping outside.

[Oh gosh, I just said that I will start treating them better but I’ve forgotten about them.]

I was forced to do a facepalm after realizing that I’d done something bad to them.

Using our mental connection, I wake them up.

[Mother! You did not say that you’ll be gone for so long! We’re starting to get worried.]

[Sorry! So, as an apology, I will treat you guys to something nice?]

[Really?! YAY!]

[Thank you, mother!]

[…well, I guess I’ll forgive mother if that is the case.]

[Hehehe sorry guys, I was not expecting to spend a lot of time there too.]

“Well? let’s go!”

The three wolves howled and followed me into the adventurer’s guild to eat some food.

After eating we returned to the inn to wash up and sleep.

The next morning, I visited a magic store.

The magic store is a kind of shop that sells magic scrolls, wands, orbs, magic crystals, Skill Scrolls, and books.

I went inside not expecting much.

Moments later...

“What the hell…”

I said as I was staring at a thing called “Skill Scroll”.

“Skill Scroll”, is a special item that can give one person skills as long as it is not restricted by their jobs.

Although the skill learned through the use of skill scroll will never increase in level, they are still worth it.

Behind a glass window, a skill scroll was displayed.

My eyes were glued toward one skill scroll displayed behind a glass case.

It was a Universal skill scroll, which means all jobs could learn the skill.

“Oh, miss are you interested in that skill? It's quite a rare find if you ask me. Many adventurers such as yourself are eyeing that skill. Too bad we only have 5 of them in stock.”

“H-h-h-h-how much is it?!”

I excitedly asked the magic storekeeper.

“Oh, that one is worth 5,000,000 DAL.”

“5 M?!”

I stumbled on the floor after hearing the price, I remained there for a while.

I bit on my nail thinking about how to gain 5 million DAL as soon as possible.

The shopkeeper’s reaction did not change he continued talking in a relaxed tone.

“Ma’am, is everything alright?”

I did not answer but instead, I stood up and placed my face against the glass separating me and the skill scroll

I feel that I am like a kid who saw a toy that I like and would not stop looking at it unless my parents buy it for me.

[I wanted this one.]

[Alright!]

I turned around with a serious expression on my face.

I quickly walked out of the shop with a determined face.

“I’LL BE BACK!”

“Ok, ma’am, but I suggest you hurry, many adventurers’ eyes this scroll in particular.”

The shopkeeper yells at me as I got out of the shop.

I hurriedly walked toward the guild and looked for a quest that has a high reward.

[I will get that skill! NO, I MUST GET THAT SKILL!]

I pumped my fist and scoffs.

I had a sudden burst of motivation.

The skill scroll that caught my attention was a skill called “Cooking”.
