God’s Guide for Teasing Heroes

"Let us start the meeting." 

Razor, The acting leader of the Assassin Order in Vestir announced the start of the meeting. 

His voice was deep and commanding. 

When he talked, Rio felt a cold breeze of the air while listening to his voice. 

There were goosebumps all over her body and she froze in place. 

Rio was reminded of the last time she saw this person. 

It was when she attended the meeting of the Assassin's Order for the first time a few days ago. 

At that time, his atmosphere was nothing like it is right now. 

It was as if he dropped the act and stopped hiding this side of himself. 

Rio could feel the dangerous air around the man that she almost forgot to breathe. 

  

  

Rio stared at Razor intently, she was observing even the tiniest action he does. 

Rio instinctively knew that ignoring this man would be a huge mistake, thus most of her attention gravitated to this man. 

Despite his robe covering Razor's mouth, Rio could feel the smile under the cloth covering his mouth. 

He was looking down at them. 

He was looking at the members of the order who came here with an amused faces. 

"I see that there are fewer members of the Order now compared to our first meeting. -Kufufu- I congratulate those who survived till today."  

Despite saying this like a joke, no one present reacted. 

The intense malice coming out of this man was too much for anyone to do so. 

  

  

Rio knew that this man has a very sadistically twisted mind. 

In the last meeting, she was able to read the mind of this person for a short moment. 

At that time, He was imagining how the members of the order were killed in every way possible. 

Rio remembers almost puking from seeing the grotesque imagery of death in his mind. 

This time, he did not hide this side of himself. 

Instead, he used this to assert his presence to the members of the Order attending today. 

And without a doubt, the members of the order noticed how dangerous this man was. 

  

  

"I won't be wasting time, I will go directly to the point. Tonight, we will attack the place where the Saint is hiding."  

Said Razor without much hesitation. 

Just like he said, he went direct to the point. 

"Eh?..."  

Rio's eyes widen upon hearing this direct announcement from the leader of the group. 

[Wait... Attack where the place where the saint is hiding? Does that mean that they already knew where the saint is hiding... HOW?! Was there someone in that mansion who betrayed us? Could it be, the workers in the mansion? THIS IS BAD.] 

  

  

Rio was in a panic. 

A lot of things came to her mind after hearing that announcement. 

If what the leader said was true, then Kazue and the guys will have to escape before the Order could attack. 

She immediately thought of letting her friends know that they have been found out.  

[I need to go back...] 

  

  

Rio was unable to concentrate and thought of a way to leave as soon as possible. 

She knew that if Razor's words were true then they will be in big trouble. 

The day Coco will be able to meet his father will be tomorrow. 

If they waited for that, then it would be too late. 

They need to escape, or at the very least be prepared for the attack. 

[Damn, I need to tell this to Kazue and the others immediately.] 

  

  

"For now, no one is allowed to leave this place until it is time for us to attack the place where the saint is hiding."  

Razor state with a commanding tone. 

Behind the voice was a warning. 

A clear warning that says that no one is allowed to disobey this order. 

Rio could not say a word back. 

She was afraid that if she retorts back, she might be killed next. 

  

  

"Why?!"  

One of the members protested. 

Rio was thankful for this as she wanted to protest about the same thing. 

No, the other members of the Assassin Order also thought and reacted the same way. 

[Yeah, Why?! I need to go as soon as possible. I don't have the time to waste staying here. I need to go.] 

  

  

"Hahaha~ Why you ask? Well... As you all know, not all of the members of the order here is not loyal to our group. I know that someone amongst you is not really on our side. What I mean is that there is a spy in here."  

At that moment, Razor released a more oppressive aura. 

All of the members present there felt in describable fear all of sudden. 

It caused them to flinch, gasp for air, and have their heartbeat raising. 

Some of them turned around and attempted to run away. 

At that very moment, Rio's mind was shocked. 

[Wait... do they know that I am a spy?! THIS IS BAD I NEED TO RUN TOO.] 

  

  

Rio was confused and almost reacted on instinct to run away. 

But thankfully, she has her ability (Eyes of the Mind Reader) active. 

Thanks to that, Rio was able to see a glimpse of what was on Razor's mind. 

[It's alright... He does not know it's me. He's... observing us... he is waiting for us to react.] 

With all her might she was able to stop her feat that was about to run. 

  

  

[Now then... who's going to react...] 

From what I learned from reading Razor's mind, He did not know who the spy is. 

He was simply observing the members of the order's reaction. 

[Aha... found you little rats.] 

"!!!"

A laser-like flash of light flew toward some members of the order. 

6 people fell on the floor. 

These six are the ones who turned around and ran. 

Their foot was dismembered from their bodies. 

"ARGH!!!"  

"WAAA"  

They cried in pain. 

On the other hand... 

"AHAHAHA"  

Razor laughed in a sinister voice. 

"This trick never grows old..."  

[This always works like a charm...] 

"What the..."  

  

  

It was not just Rio, most of the members of the order who was listening to Razor were in shock. 

They did not know why some of the members of the order suddenly fell on the floor. 

It was too late when Rio looked back at the members who fell on the floor. 

"HEY?! WHY DID YOU ATTACK THEM ARE YOU CRAZY?!"  

One of the members of the order screamed in anger. 

  

  

"Ah...~ about that... It was because they tried to run."  

"Tried to run? That's it?"  

"Yeah..."  

"Just because of that?"  

"Yeah... instead... let me ask you, if it was you, why would you run at that moment?"  

When Razor said this question, another member of the order yelled realizing why Razor did this. 

"It's... because... they are SPIES?!"  

"Right... the only people who would run after hearing that are the spies."  

That is right, Razor did this to expose them. 

As he expected several of those spies ran as soon as they felt his killing intent. 

"So, did you lie to us just to know who were the spies..."  

"Well... not really all of the things I said just now are true. Tonight we will be raiding the place where the saint is hiding. I just wanted to see if some stupid guys would fall into my trap."  

  

  

"Don't get me wrong... Just like most of you, I do not trust a single soul amongst you people."  

"..."  

There was silence as Razor continued to talk. 

Meanwhile, the members who fell were being dragged away by Razor's men. 

Seeing this, no one said a word. 

No one wanted to be dragged away like those people who tried to run away. 

The members of the order who was there could not say a word. 

What just happened was too sudden that they could not do something even if they wanted to. 

At the same time, no one tried to help the guys who were being dragged away. 

  

  

Should they be angry? 

Should they voice out their complaints too? 

No, if they do so they would only get attention. 

Getting attention may get them in trouble. 

Even if they are not a spy, they did not want others to doubt them. 

It was obvious that if they tried to resist, they will end up like those people. 

Therefore, the right thing to do here is to just shut up and see what will happen next. 

Cold sweats were running down their bodies. 

  

  

As if nothing happened, Razor continued to talk. 

"Here is the plan."  

Razor continued to explain their plan. 

It was clear that no one was allowed to question the words of Razor. 

None of the members here was brave enough to complain to the strong. 

All they have to do is to follow what he was going to say. 

If someone was to disagree or to ask a question pertaining to the content of the plan, then they must be ready to lose their head after the first word leaves their mouth. 

  

  

"Tonight we will be raiding the mansion of the Azurearozis. We found out that the saint was hiding there."  

Whispers from the members could be heard but no one raised their voice to ask. 

Hearing about the detail of the plan, it was clear that the Assassin Order really have the location of the saint. 

[Holy sh*t... they really know where the saint is... this is bad... I need to inform Kazue and the others...] 

  

  

"How did you know about that?!"  

The Assassin who kept asking Razor insisted to ask for answers. 

But... 

Another flash of light flew. 

This time it was not the foot that was cut, instead, it was the man's head that fell. 

The members of the order gasped seeing this happen.

"!!!"  

Again, Rio could not react once again. 

All she knew was there was a light flashing from Razor and the next thing they knew, the man was dead. 

Rio knew right there and then... there was no way for her to stand a chance to go against Razor. 

All she could do was shut her mouth and try her best to hide that she was on the side of the saint. 

[This is bad, this is bad, this is bad!!! This dude is too dangerous...] 

  

  

"Too noisy..."  

Silence once again enveloped the place. 

This included the men in white robes. 

They were also shocked at what was happening. 

The people in white robes are the members of Ecclesia's "Inquisitors". 

The members of Ecclesia knew that the man who calls himself Razor was not someone they should be taken too lightly. 

Aside from Tassilo, the Ecclesia members present there reacted surprised. 

"Heh... not bad..."  

He said looking at Razor with a curious gaze. 

  

  

No one of the people presents asked why the man's head flew off his body. 

They knew that Razor thinks that he was suspicious for asking too many questions. 

Or, maybe he was annoyed with the man for being too loud. 

In any case, they realized that if they say a word that Razor dislikes they too could end up like the man. 

Their head could be flying off if they tried to retort his in any way. 

They could only shut their mouth and listen in silence. 

  

  

"Let me continue."  

[He's annoying... Well... from the way he asks things it's too obvious that he is also a spy... Or not? Well... it is his fault for being too suspicious. Plus, there is no way for me to tell you about the Skill user who can find the saint. STUPID.] 

Rio reads Razor's thoughts. 

Despite being afraid she needs to gather intel. 

Rio knew that she can't do anything aside from gathering intel from all the sources she can. 

That is all she can do at the moment. 

Thankfully, Rio was in the line of sight of Razor, and thanks to that she can read his thoughts normally.

At the very least, Rio was able to determine that there was no traitor within the mansion. 

For that, she was thankful. 

From reading Razor's thoughts, it seems that he knew someone who can locate the saint with the use of a skill. 

The reason why Razor was able to know the whereabouts of the saint was thanks to a person who uses a "Skill" to locate the saint. 

[Good... at least there was no traitor there. Now all I need to do is to inform Kazue and the others later. For now, I need to listen to the plan.] 

  

  

"Here is the plan. ---"  

Razor explained the plan. 

As planned they will attack tonight. 

There will be a diversion created by the Order and the nobles who are collaborating with them. 

Monsters will be released in the city to create chaos. 

The chaos will be the signal for the operation to start. 

During the commotion caused by rampaging monsters, the order will attack the mansion. 

  

  

While the monsters rampage in the city, Razor will lead the attacking group with his closest and trusted men. 

He will be working with the leader of the guys in white robes who has been watching the meeting all this time. 

They will attack the mansion and will try to assassinate the saint there. 

  

  

Meanwhile. 

The other members of the Order were assigned to be part of random groups. 

Each of the groups was composed of 4 to 6 members. 

Each group is supervised by a trusted person selected by Razor himself. 

They are tasked to do a certain job during the operation. 

Some are asked to help in causing additional diversions other than the one that the one started by the Nobles. 

Some are asked to guard possible escape routes. 

Some are tasked to fight the guard and buy time. 

Some are to fight the people who will be guarding the saint. 

Some are tasked to act as backup. 

Some are tasked to be the lookouts. 

As a rule, no one is allowed to do anything unnecessary. 

If anyone is found to be acting suspiciously they will be dealt with immediately. 

  

  

Rio was assigned to a group tasked with guarding one of the escape routes. 

As expected, since the group was arranged at random, none of the members knew one another. 

The group was led by a trusted henchman of Razor and one of the people who wears a white robe. 

After the group was divided, and roles were assigned all they need to do was to wait for the time to attack. 

  

  

"Ah... that reminds me, All of you here must stay here till it is time for us to attack. After all... We want to avoid anyone of you contacting anyone before we execute our plans. Again... I don't trust anyone of you and you all should not trust anyone in the order. We are Assassins, all we need to do is to kill the target. What we need is a concrete plan, we don't need useless things such as trust. From here on, if anyone of you tries anything that is not within our plans, you will be treated as a traitor. Traitors will be dealt with on the spot. If that is clear, then no one is allowed to do otherwise. Just do what is asked of you. I hope this is clear to you all. That's all."  

Razor declared this while emitting a dangerous aura.

Rio and many other members of the order gulped their saliva from this intimidating aura coming from Razor 

  

 

 

  

[I see, so the reason why they don't want us to leave is to prevent us from contacting others. This must be done to prevent the plan from leaking. Damn... this is bad... at this rate, I won't be able to tell Kazue that the mansion will be attacked tonight. I need to be patient. I can't escape now. I need to wait for the operation to start. These are the group of nobles who asked the Assassin Order to assassinate the saint of Riles. 

The rebellious nobles who was coerced by the empire of Ecclesia to help dispose of the saint. 

  

  

Each of the nobles here has varied reasons to join the rebellion. 

Some of them were promised wealth and power. 

Some are offered high-ranking seats within the empire of Ecclesia. 

Some are offered rare artifacts that they direly need for selfish reasons. 

Some are offered help in their territories. 

They are helping with the rebellion for one reason or another. 

They are helping the Empire of Ecclesia which was threatening to start a huge war with the Kingdom of Riles. 

At that gathering, there were about 20 nobles present there. 

  

  

"I am happy to see all of you people attend this sudden party. As you all expected, I am here to announce to you all very good news."  

"Good news? That's new, all I've heard lately are bad news."  

The man retorted with a sarcastic note. 

It seems that he had been in a bad mood. 

"Haha, I understand what you feel mister I also feel the same. But, I assure you that what I am about to inform all of you is going to be music in your ears."  

The noble replied with a confident tone to the sarcastic man. 

"It better be."  

He replied, and other nobles followed him as they expect good news. 

  

  

"All right... By now, I expect all of you to have heard about the failed attempt of the Assassin Order to dispose of the saint am I correct."  

The men nod in acknowledgment. 

The noble agreed to this as all of them have heard of the disappointing news from the past. 

The failed assassination of the saint was the biggest disappointment they've heard about recently. 

Up until recently, their plans had been failing one after another. 

Many members of this group were exposed and were arrested by the kingdom. 

  

  

During the noble's summit, many of the members of this group were exposed in public for being proven guilty of inciting a rebellion by helping the Empire of Ecclesia. 

It did not help them that during that recent Noble Summit, it was revealed that the kingdom of Riles was able to disrupt their plans while exposing many of the nobles supporting this rebellion. 

  

  

Also, during the summit, problematic people came to Riles to help with matters involving the Ecclesia Empire. 

In addition to that, the guild master of the Capital City of Artesia came to the summit to help with the impending war. 

It seems that the Guild Master Svencity will be involving himself in this civil matter involving the Empire of Ecclesia. 

  

  

Normally, the adventurer's guild is not allowed to involve themselves in political wars between countries. 

This time was different. 

It was because it involves the Empire of Ecclesia. 

It was common knowledge that the Empire of Ecclesia wants all demi-human to be eradicated from this world. 

The empire believes that demi-human are impure being that are causing the evils happening in this world. 

This doctrine was taught to all people living within the Empire of Ecclesia and all of them seemed to believe that this was the absolute truth. 

Thus, the Empire of Ecclesia sends the "Inquisitors" to kill as many demi-human as possible. 

This was their mission, their "Holy Crusade". 

  

  

The Ecclesia Empire's extreme belief caused trouble for all of the Demi-human Countries. 

This continued act of indiscriminate killing of innocent people forced the adventurer's guild to act. 

They warned Ecclesia that if they continue to involve innocent people in their so-called "Holy Crusade" then, the adventurer's guild will have to do something about them. 

  

  

Despite the Adventurer's Guild's warning, the empire of Ecclesia still pushed their belief and caused harm toward the demi-human races. 

They continued to involve innocent demi-human in the name of their "Holy Crusade" of cleansing the world of demi-humans. 

This forced the adventurer's guild to classify "Inquisitors" as monsters similar to how the guild classified "Bandits" - monsters. 

  

  

Thus, getting the adventurer's guild to help Riles in this war was necessary. 

Although adventurers are not allowed to fight on the front line they are responsible for protecting the citizen of the kingdom. 

The presence of Guild master Svencity, also known as the strongest adventurer in Riles means a lot. 

This means that the Adventurer's guild will be involved if Ecclesia continues to push through with their plan to start a war. 

If they do, the Adventurer's guild will be supporting the kingdom to suppress Ecclesia. 

  

  

This was bad news for the nobles supporting Ecclesia. 

If the adventurer's guild will involve themselves in this, the success of their plans seemed to be less probable than ever. 

Plus, with Svencity being involved in this matter, it discouraged many of these nobles to push forward with their plans. 

They are afraid to go against the strongest adventurer in the land. 

Not only that, but this also means that if they pushed with their plans, they will not only fight against the Country of Riles but also all of the Adventurers working with the Adventurer's guild. 

  

  

But at the same time... 

If the assassination of the saint was successful, this will change the entirety of the story. 

If the saint is killed, it will definitely increase the morale of the Ecclesia Empire and they will most definitely push through with an all-out war with the Country of Riles. 

If that happens, this noble will start a revolution and help Ecclesia win the war. 

That was the simplified idea of their grand plan. 

  

  

The noble announcing good news continued to talk. 

"We found where the saint is hiding."  

A huge reaction was drawn from the nobles after hearing this news. 

"Where is that damn saint?"  

"Unfortunately, We don't want that information to be released."  

"WHY?!"  

Many of the nobles angrily complained. 

"Have you all forgotten why the saint escape in the first place? There was someone within our group who leaked the information and cause the plan to fail. This time, we are keeping that information for the top members of our organization."  

The announcer replied without being intimidated by the complaints of the imposing nobles and looked back at them without backing down. 

"Ugh... Fine."  

Despite being annoyed, the nobles understood why they wanted to keep the information. 

  

  

They somehow calmed down and continued to discuss the topic. 

"Then, in the end... what is the purpose of telling this to us in the first place if you can't expose the location of the saint."  

"Come on my fellow nobles, I think they have a reason for that."  

"That is correct. Thank you very much for understanding."  

"Can you explain what we could do to help?"  

"We plan on executing the plan tonight, we want to ask all of you to help create a diversion by creating chaos as we attack where the saint is being kept."  

  

  

The nobles come up with a plan to create a diversion for the operation to work. 

What they come up with was to release monsters inside the city. 

Many of the nobles here have a hobby of collecting dangerous monsters under their homes like exotic pets. 

Many of those monsters are considered to be very dangerous. 

The monsters they plan to release range from D-rank to B-rank. 

Releasing these monsters will most definitely create a lot of chaos. 

The meeting did not last long and only a short discussion happened just to clear up and ask what they could do to help. 

It will be certain that tonight will be a busy night for them. 

This will be the last chance they have to kill the saint. 

  

  

The discussion continued. 

No one disagreed to push forward the plan. 

Everyone agreed to help with the distraction plan. 

Tonight, total chaos will engulf the Capital city of Riles.
