Gohan In Narutoverse: Sage Style

Chapter 30 - Mock Trial Training (1)

"Well... it's true that each three-men cell is given a week's time to properly train into coordination. But this... does sound feasible."

Shisui drank his cup of sake. Beside him, Itachi sat silently, his eye going through the doc.u.ment while Asuma and Kurenai sat in front of them.

Taking a deep pump of his cigarette, Asuma gulped another cup down and nodded with a carefree grin.

"Now this sounds interesting. Kurenai, you really are good at this stuff, huh!"

He snickered in a half-drunken state while Itachi just happened to be eating his dango calmly.

Glaring at Asuma, Kurenai simply snorted and snapped.

"Not only this, I can even wipe your a.s.s through the ground in a real battle!"

Asuma's shrug further annoyed her.

"Ugh! I can't handle this! Are we agreeing to the project?"

She gulped a cup of sake herself, a little colour finally reached her cheeks before she asked the trio jounins who did not fail their students.

"Sure."

"Yes."

"Fine by me."

The three shinobis nodded as Kurenai stood up and then smiled brilliantly.

"Good then, we will meet in three days. Don't forget the bets."

"Hey! You're going to leave us just like that? Come on!"

Asuma immediately complained while Shisui and Itachi remained silent, calmly eating their meals. Giving Asuma a sidelong glance, Kurenai suddenly thought another scheme.

"You know what? Let's do it this way. If your team wins or even defeat my own, I will finally go out on a date with you. How about that?"

Asuma finally broke out of his drunken stupor. His widened eyes gazed at Kurenai's beautiful face seriously, as if to confirm if she was simply playing with him. Meanwhile, Shisui finally spoke 'ho ho' as his expression grew interesting, too.

Itachi, on the other hand, being a responsible shinobi, concentrated on his snacks.

"But in return, should my team defeat yours, I want you to give one of my students a one-day in-depth teaching regarding melee weapons. We good?"

Kurenai asked out and Asuma immediately nodded.

"We good, we good."

"Mock Trial Training?"

The trio asked simultaneously, meanwhile, Kurenai nodded calmly.

"It is a joint initiative of me and other jounins to allow the students to have the experience of battling their own peers without any kind of basic restrictive rules found in the academy.

The premise is to either survive or defeat the other teams in an hour. Of course, there will be no ranks or victories in this trial. It is simply designed to check your coordination with your team when faced against other three-men cells."

'Of course, there is half of my life savings placed on your victory.' Kurenai conveniently omitted the last part.

"Heh, a competition? That's pretty interesting! Now, you can defeat every single male and claim your role as an alpha male."

Kefla's roguish words itched Eio's consciousness as he snorted inwardly.

"Don't get me sidetracked! Since the survival and coordination of the teams is the most emphasised part, there is no need to fight head-on!"

"Yeah, right! Don't tell me you have already fallen for your sensei? Did her words really touch your heart? Is this the forbidden—"

"Don't say further, you maniac!" Eio immediately stopped Kefla. Hearing his shouts, a sweet smile appeared on Kefla as she tried pulling Eio's consciousness in, wanting to give him another round of tease show. Alas, this time, Eio knew what awaited him the moment his eyes laid on Kefla. Hence, he simply kept his will and resisted Kefla's pull.

"So? Are you ready to face your friends in three days?"

Kurenai asked, to which, Team Kurenai replied with a quick nod.

"Yes!"

"Alright, Shino and Hinata will train in their basic Taijutsu stances. Since both of you have your own clan specific Jutsus, it is best that you try and integrate your actions to produce good result even without Eio."

At her words, Shino couldn't help but want to voice out his own doubts. But his little chat with his father regarding the methods of Kurenai-sensei flashed.

Nodding, he looked at Hinata silently, who also spun her heels and distanced herself from the Kurenai-sensei and Eio.

"Now, Eio, I will be placing the information of your opposing teams one by one. After reading their info, you need to come up with possible battle tactics that utilizes your whole team's strength in the most efficient manner."

Raising his brow, Eio couldn't help but ask.

"Only me?"

Shaking her head, Kurenai looked at Shino and Hinata, who were regulating their breathing and stretching their bodies before the spar.

"Don't misunderstand Eio. This is an individual exercise. After you, it is Shino's turn and then Hinata's."

Placing the folder in front of Eio, Kurenai smiled.

"Now, why don't you read this while I guide those two side by side?"

"Yes, Sensei."

Eio sat on the ground and started reading through the information while Kurenai observed Hinata and Shino, only speaking out when her guidance was truly required.

Flap

With a slow flap, Eio closed the folder with a deep sigh resounding out of his throat.

"I bet that you really miss my little show, right? Want me to help you with your headache?"

Kefla's soft whispers with a hint of seduction rang inside his consciousness. But shaking his head seriously, he kept his quiet for a moment before sitting cross-legged and regulating his breathing.

"Kefla, infuse some of your chakra."

He voiced out, making Kefla disgruntled!

"Hey! I know that my chakra is sweet stuff! But there is a lot more of sweet stuff that flows out of my body. Heck, many men of our planet ram after me with their tongues rolling out after I emerged."

"Yes, I know. It's simply coincidental that your chakra has the quality to reinvigorate a person's spirit. So, for the last time, will you infuse your chakra, or not?!"

Huffing, Keflas crossed her arms beneath her ample bosom in her own world and stomped.

"You know, I have been nothing but patient with you! It was my mistake to bring you back to life and escaping to this world. And now, I am imprisoned and I cannot even talk to my heart's content.

And you, all with that attitude— Don't do this, don't do that! I am done!

Hmph!"

"Eh?"

Not foreseeing such a situation, Eio finally stammered. Most of her words also happened to be true. Sighing, he could only appease the little Goddess.

"I understand. But... I don't know how to free you. If I really wanted to restrict you, I would have placed the summon prison around your chakra construct.

Believe me, I want nothing more than to pull you out of my body, too."

Narrowing her eyes, Kefla finally slumped on her little swing.

"Fine, fine! But tomorrow, I want to move for half-an-hour! Promise me!"

Taking a deep breath, Eio promised.

"Half-an-hour."

"Good."

Kefla finally smiled happily as she let out a sliver of her cool chakra refresh Eio's spirit. She could have let out more, but fearing that the three sensory shinobis near Eio might sense it, Kefla used a bit of her energy.

With a cool energy infusing with his own chakra, Eio felt his mental capabilities boosting.

Ordinarily, the chakra beast separated from your own spirit is supposed to have the same chakra structure as the host. But after a period of time, when the chakra beast finally assimilates into this new world, it gains a unique quality. Kefla happened to gain the quality of refreshing a spirit which could be passed through the chakra slowly developing inside her.

Opening his eyes, he immediately saw Kurenai sitting in front of him, a smile on her face.

"Ready?"

"Oh, baby! For you, I am always ready!!"

"Enough!" Berating the chuckling Kefla, Eio nodded and then finally spoke.

"I would like to start with Team Shisui, since they are the weakest according to me. If our team face against their team, it is advisable that we immediately use some deterrent, like pepper spray or something else to limit Sasuke's use of sharingan.

Of course, the vision is simply one of the senses of the shinobi and we are trained to fight based on the sounds, too. So, for the next part, we can use the buzzing of Shino's bugs to play with their hearing abilities. Finally, for Naruto, it is most beneficial that Hinata faces him at a closed range.

With her Taijutsu and byakugan, no matter how large his reserves are, the moment his greatest asset is blocked, their team will crumble."

Eio took a deep breath and then looked at Kurenai, who nodded and spoke a plain 'next.'

Nodding, he spoke for another team.

"Team Itachi, in my opinion, is quite balanced. Instead of thinking them as a three-men cell, I would like to include Kiba's partner in their team, too.

To deal with their team, it is best that we separate Kiba and Akamaru from each other. This time, I would like to face off against Sai myself while Shino will take care of Kiba, Akamaru and Mira with Hinata supporting us using her Byakugan and finding various openings."

"Good."

Kurenai nodded, but somehow, her expression seemed cold.

Not minding her expression, Eio finally went on to the last team.

"For Team Asuma... it is crucial that we take out Ino Yamanaka before anyone else. While Shikamaru is quite... mysterious in his actions, his chakra reserve is his own limit while Choji Akimichi needs to be distracted for the time being before the three of us take him out together."

"Right..." Kurenai crossed her arms as her left index finger tapped the upper part of her right arm.

"Eio?"

"Yes, Sensei?"

"What about Sakura?"

Frowning, Eio couldn't help but ask again.

"Sakura... Haruno?"

"Yes."

Shaking his head, Eio replied negatively.

"I don't understand, sensei?"

Taking a light breath, Kurenai decided to go easy on Eio.

"Eio, you failed to mention Sakura in your evaluation. This speaks volumes on how you looked down on your opponent. For all we know, she may be a super genius who simply hasn't shown her worth.

Or, she may actually be a spy from other nation, but here you are, skipping her like she is nothing.

Did you think that this is what Sakura might have wanted in the first place?

To be looked down upon and then skipped at."

Her crimson eyes bore into him while he sweated secretly. Meanwhile, Kefla had other thoughts.

"Mmmgh, such a woman! If she were a man, I would be all over her!"

"Shut it!"

Eio concentrated and did find that he had been looking down on Sakura after reading her info. Weak at the three basic elements of shinobi, she wasn't worth much attention. But what if...

Realising his mistake, Eio sincerely apologised for his own actions.

"I am sorry, Sensei. I shouldn't have looked down on an opponent even if they seemed weak."

Nodding, Kurenai looked at Eio once again, who seemed slightly more pleasing to her eyes. Well, he was a handsome lad, no doubt, but so were Sasuke and Naruto. And those two hard heads did not even enter her vision.

"Eio, perhaps, you looked down at Sakura because of her gender?"

She finally asked out, the most crucial point that divided people into her friends and... well, strangers.

"Gender?"

Eio uttered and then shook his head. In his lifetime, he has seen many powerful women. He did not want to admit it, but it was a woman who killed him, a beautiful one at that.

Shaking his head, Eio voiced out his own opinion.

"No, Kurenai-sensei. The only reason I ignored Sakura was her lackl.u.s.tre in three basic elements of Shinobis.

If I really looked down on a woman, my a.s.s would've been whooped by my mother a long time ago."

Now it was Kurenai's turn to stammer at his words. But she did regain her calm and then smiled.

"Alright, you should replace Shino. This time, be sure to spar with Hinata traditionally and fill her gaps in experience."

Eio finally stood up.

Gazing at his back... particularly his 'unwhooped' a.s.s, Kurenai couldn't help but mutter.

"Whooped a.s.s, huh."
