Grand Magus

Chapter 38 - Parasitic Insect

As Fraser glanced at the yellowish orb which now had a crack he felt uncomfortable.

He tried to search for a similar insect in the records of the outpost, yet the AI wasn't able to find a parasitic insect with the descriptions of the insect in front of him.

There were a few parasitic organisms which would control the behavior of the host while eating the brain, yet none of them had the color yellow and were insects.

Instead, most parasites would be in the shape of a plant or a mushroom, forming roots inside the body of the host while spreading via spores or direct seed implantation.

Fraser continued to look at the yellowish orb which now had a crack in it.

He could see how the insect slowly devoured the meat of the colossal cave bear as the yellow orb was transparent.

'I didn't found this parasitic insect in the flora or fauna records of the outpost. Either this is a new species, a very rare species, an almost endangered species because of its particular attributes or a species which normal habitat is not the howling abyss.'

Holding the glass jar in his hands Fraser continued to think.

'It doesn't matter what this parasitic insect is. I have to brand it with my spirit mark in order to tame it. After all, I have no idea if this unknown insect is dangerous.'

As soon as Fraser finished thinking about the spider he immediately sat down on his bed and held the glass jar with the insect egg in it.

The yellow orbs, which were scattered through the body of the colossal cave bear, were eggs as well. The only difference was that all of them were not as developed and weren't able to feed on the dead flesh of the colossal cave bear and thus died.

As Fraser touched the yellowish orb with his spirit something strange happened.

With a shocked feeling, Fraser continued to control his spirit in order to look at the yellowish insect egg.

'How did my spirit disappear? It literally vanished. I can even feel that the maximal amount of spirit I have seems to be reduced.'

Once again Fraser tried to send his spirit into the yellowish insect egg in order to brand the insect with his spirit brand thus making the insect his slave.

However it didn't matter how often Fraser tried to send his spirit into the yellowish insect egg, everything vanished.

Sweat dripped down Fraser's head and a frustrated thought popped out in Fraser's head.

'If this goes on then my spirit that I painstakingly acc.u.mulated will disappear because of this parasitic insect egg. This can't go on!'

Fraser used his entire spirit and pressed it towards the yellowish insect egg in order to get to know what happened with the previous two spirit strands he used in order to brand the insect.

As soon as his spirit glanced into the transparent yellowish insect egg a severe pain shot through his entire spirit.

Fraser's body started to spasm, sweat poured out of his body, blood flowed out of his mouth, nose, ears, and eyes and his pants started to become wetter.

But Fraser didn't experienced any of the things mentioned above.

Instead his entire concentration focused on the insect egg.

The spirit of the yellowish insect seemed to be able to devour the spirit of Fraser.

Also the spirit of the yellowish insect seemed to be way stronger than Fraser deemed.

It almost had the size of Frasers spirit and it easily pinned Frasers spirit down while slowly devouring Frasers spirit bite by bite.

Why did Fraser think the spirit of the insect devoured his spirit bite by bite? Because as Fraser used his entire spirit in order to activate the spirit beast technique in order to imprint the yellowish insect egg his entire spirit was outside.

Thus allowing the insect's spirit to pin down his spirit and ripping his spirit into pieces while devouring the smaller ones.

Agony filled Fraser's mind as he could only witness his spirit getting devoured piece by piece by the spirit of the yellowish insect which he wanted to brand with his spirit mark just a few moments before.

At this moment he d.e.s.i.r.ed to rip the yellow insect into pieces while cursing the entire world.

However, he wasn't even able to control his body anymore which continued to lose the basic functions of a healthy body.

Pain filled Fraser's body while the insect continued to devour Fraser's spirit piece by piece and didn't seem to be bothered.

Desperation filled Fraser's spirit as he could only see how his spirit vanished into the yellowish spirit of the insect.

Two rune balls, which were two dark rope spell model, floated in his spirit and Fraser grabbed these spell model with desperation.

Immediately these two spell models started to operate in the physical world and two dark wh.i.p.s appeared in the physical world.

Fraser immediately controlled these two dark ropes in the way to wreak as much havoc as possible.

But as if sensing the impending danger the yellow insect pinned down Fraser in such a way that the most possible agony swept through his spirit.

The yellow insect even hastens the way on how it devoured Fraser's spirit.

However, Fraser was able to shatter the glass jar with the egg of the yellowish insect inside it.

Sadly one of the dark ropes missed the insect by the width of a thumbnail.

As the two dark ropes disappeared the yellow insect hatched from its transparent egg and crawled on Fraser's body towards his brain.

'Is this the end? Will I die because of my first experiment session where I cut up corpses of organisms?'

To be honest, Fraser wasn't able to think clearly anymore. The pain of getting cut open alive while being burned and getting eaten alive mixed into the pain that Fraser experienced right now.

As he could only watch how the insect crawled towards his brain while eating his spirit Fraser felt like everything he did up until now only benefited others.

He traded his potions for who knows what? Goodwill from some useless seniors that gave him this evil yellow insect.

He didn't even know if the potions he had were something precious in the outpost, after all, he holed himself up in his private chamber while ignoring the outpost.

Fraser started to laugh inwardly.

'ahahahaHHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHHA'

As if madness felt every vein of Fraser's existence he started to laugh.

The yellow insect burrowed into his mouth and reached his brain.

With one last glance, Fraser stared towards his two spell models and changed one rune.

Like explosion potions they exploded, causing his entire spirit to crumble.

The rest…. only darkness.
