Grand Magus

Chapter 44 - Soldier

What stepped out of the cocoon was a gigantic insect. Shaped like a spider with six legs.

It reminded Fraser of a centaur with the only difference of having four legs and an additional pair of legs in the front.

On all six legs, it slowly stepped out of the cocoon, causing it to shatter into pieces.

It slowly turned towards the cocoon shells and started to grab a large piece with its two front legs.

It started to eat the cocoon shells with its large mouth which seemed the fusion of a spider mouth, a centipede mouth and the mouth of a shark.

Row upon row of white teeth could be seen.

As Fraser stood there, watching the spider-shaped creature devouring its cocoon shell an unknown feeling crawled into his mind.

With his newly acquired instincts, Fraser knew what that feeling means.

Slowly Fraser stepped toward the large spider-shaped creature and touched one of its legs.

When Fraser touched the leg, the creature continued to eat its cocoon shell and completely ignored the touch.

Fraser simply stood there and waited until the creature finished eating its cocoon shell.

'I never expected the soldier servant to be so huge. Luckily the height of the private chambers is so high or else the creature would have problems walking around.'

It was true, with the height of about double the size of Frasers own height, the servant could be described as a colossal giant.

'Waiting for the servant to finish eating its food feels calming. The connection towards the servant seems to be more than just the ability to control the servant.'

Fraser closed his eyes in order to feel the connection towards the servant in a more intense manner.

A nudge interrupted him.

Opening his eyes, Fraser could see how the six-legged insect servant used one of his front legs to nudge him.

Seemingly awaiting orders the servant started to glare at Fraser with its six eyes.

Small spikes covered the surface of the front leg and at the top five retractable claws were visible.

Smiling Fraser glanced towards the servant while asking himself the most important question:

How strong is this servant which is battle oriented?

'AI, can you tell me the battle power of the servant with the type soldier in front of me? Try to use the same numbers as my body stats and if that is not available then inform me. Also while you are at it, tell me if I have a limit on the amount of the servants that I am able to control.'

[13.39 strength, 14.17 agility, 7.06 vitality is the body stats of this servant of the type soldier. This soldier takes <unknown> space in your spirit, considering the factor you will be able to control six more servants of this type]

'Six more?'

Fraser glanced towards the spider-shaped creature which already looked quite fearsome.

'This servant probably can kill me within a few seconds. Having one of these soldiers already increased my battle power by a dozen times.'

Satisfied and excited Fraser stared at the servant and thought about how to get it to sit still and rest.

Surprisingly the servant immediately followed Fraser's command within the moment he thought about it.

There wasn't a specific command necessary, instead, the servant seemed to read Fraser's mind while automatically following his commands.

'That is unexpected that I don't even have to command the servant, it will follow my instructions the moment I have thought about them. I have to take make a supply of basic potions and then I am ready to go out. Besides the muscular has no reason for denying me the other two piles of corpses for my basic strengthening potion. I would have three servants instead of one which would be way safer.'

At the last part of this thought, Fraser started to become a little bit angry, but he quickly suppressed his anger.

Being angry wouldn't help him at all only muddy his rational and logical thinking.

Thought there was a huge note in his mental list that working with the muscular woman seemed to be not profitable and a time where backstabbing or robbing the muscular woman should be planned.

While Fraser created the basic potions with the help of the AI command he still had the time to think about his future steps.

'Meat and organic matter is the most important right now. I need to get a small hill of corpses and let a second soldier grow. Also since the "unknown" thing has something to do with my spirit, then simply increasing my spirit should help me being able to have more servants at the same time.'

Another basic wound mending potion got stored in Fraser's bag while a sudden thought popped out in Fraser's mind.

'The soldier is too big. How am I able to transport the servant? If this goes on then every apprentice knows that I have a six-legged spider monster as my pet.'

The carapace started to shrink and the legs started to fold.

Like a cardboard house the insect folded itself until an insect man stood in Fraser's private chambers.

Shocked Fraser almost dropped his potion flask.

'How long does it take to transform?'

At the same time, Fraser had this thought, his insect servant turned back into the colossal giant of 3 meters or ten foot within the blink of an eye. Though that is only the height of the servant, its length almost reached 12 meters or forty foot.

'I didn't expect such an easy method, it's fluent and quick. Besides, I think that the armor of the soldier servant seems to be able to withstand several attacks before shattering. Even if it is hurt when it transforms, I will have the basic wound mending potion ready.'

Fraser continued to create basic potion after basic potion after this small surprise of the shrinking ability of the soldier.

This also meant that the transport question already got solved as Fraser simply covered the folded insect servant with a dark robe which covered the entire body, including the face.

Still, even in the humanoid form, it looked fearsome. Broad, with a height of 2,1 meters or 7 foot and the dark robe gave off a dangerous vibe.

Everything was ready for Fraser first exploration where the goal consisted of acquiring a small hill of meat.

As Fraser had no responsibility, duties or people who knew him in the outpost he simply walked along the floor towards the howling abyss with no one stopping or greeting him.

Though it wasn't hard to go unnoticed when a stream of apprentices traveled along the floor with him.

'Where do all those apprentices come from? Did we already fusion with the outpost which ventured into the howling abyss?'
