“Emma must be fine. She is just in the front. That is.”

Allen murmured while he was jogging.

Since the convoy was moving forward at snail speed, he decided to search Emma first by foot. After telling his purpose, Peter simply allowed him to find his girlfriend Emma. As for the other people, they were just sticking to the pickup trucks.

It was not because they didn’t bother to go on foot. They knew that it would be many times faster than moving the wheels slowly.

If it was at the dark night and nobody was looking at them, they could just put the two vehicles into Peter’s storage space ring. However, at the daylight, they couldn’t do it, especially while the two aunts were talking just in front of them.

Although these people just experienced abnormal thing, Peter and his guys still understood that they had to follow the rules no matter what.

Transcenders must not disclose the information about occult world to mortals who are not family members, who are not related by blood, and who have never experienced the extraordinary thing related to occult world.

This code was jointly formulated and established by God Council in the early years of Fourth Grand Eon. It also allowed mortals to choose as they wanted unlike before that. The general purpose was to observe how far mortals could go without the interfering and influence of Gods and occult world.

After a while, Allen reached to the front of long convoy. He could finally take a sigh of relief because he saw the familiar off-road vehicles, which were driven by bodyguards of Emma.

Allen rushed forward faster and approached to the off-road vehicles quickly. Bodyguards in the vehicles also noticed Allen and informed Emma about appearance of her boyfriend.

When the two lovers were having a reunion, Peter was having a headache at the back of convoy.

Because the slow speed was killing his patience, Peter wanted to just put the vehicles into his space ring and jogged to the front.

It was not because of hot weather. They, who have already got solid steps in practice of knight training method, are no longer afraid of little extreme temperature.

But for little guy like Flora, the temperature inside the cabin and the long journey was putting burdens on her fragile body. And Peter noticed it. So, he let her drink a recovery potion and a healing potion.

Although the two potions are not of high ranks, they could be of great helps to mortals.

Jenny often told him about the capability and effect of many potions when they’re free. With his extraordinary memory, he remembered them well although he might not be a professional pharmacist like Jenny.

So, he decided to give it a try. Asthma might be a terrible disease for mortals. But to transcenders, some potions could easily take good care of it.

Flora’s asthma was almost completely cured after she drunk two potions. However, her weak body, which had been fighting with asthma for years, still needed some efforts and time to adjust to healthy state.

For some reasons, Peter felt distressed when he saw the little guy on his lap was looking tired.

Meanwhile, at the back truckbed, three guys were sitting shirtless and comfortably feeling the hot sunlight falling on them.

For them, the slow speed of vehicle under their butts didn’t seem to be a problem. The only problem might be that the sun would go down soon. They wished that they could enjoy the warm sunshine all the time.

To them, there could never be something more satisfying than feeling the warm sunlight slowly nourishing their bodies.

Fortunately, irritable Peter didn’t have to endure this uncomfortable situation too long. After a while, four off-road vehicles appeared on the badly damaged highway road against the direction of the long convoy.

It was Emma’s group. After she talked with Allen, she decided to get back to original track. So, they left the convoy and drove back to the back of convoy where her boyfriend’s teammates were.

Although the badly damaged highway road created some troubles to them, they were able to successfully drive to the back on it due to the particularity of the off-road vehicles.

Allen gestured them through the window as they passed by. Two pickups stopped and turned around under the surprised gazes of two aunts. Then, they followed the four off-road vehicles and left the long convoy.

Feeling the fresh air brought by the normal driving speed of 30mph, Peter put the newly opened bag of flavored potato chips into Flora’s hands and rubbed her soft hairs gently.

As for Flora, she was eating the chips continuously like a little chipmunk. When she felt thirsty, she would take the fruit juice bottle from Peter’s hand and drink it.

Things were probably looking fine. But Flora was looking at the environments blankly with her eyes full of confusions. After all, she just lost her mother, who was the only dearest person she had. She is very smart but she is still very young at the same time.

After an hour, they passed the road intersection with the one leading to San Barrendo Town again. But this time, they simply drove straightly along the highway road leading to the next city.

However, due to poor road conditions and longer distance, they had to stop at a clean and spacious roadside for dinner.

While listening to the conversations coming from not far away bonfire, Peter silently ate the chocolate flavored energy bar and looked at the sky. He was lying flat in the truck bed while facing the dark sky.

Several stars were twinkling at the sky with dark background. Peter thought about his past while looking at the sky blankly. Not to mention, he felt that his tense mind was slowly relaxing.

After a while, he heard the sound of someone walking over. Peter turned his head slowly to look at who was coming.

It was Ben. He was holding a beer bottle with one hand and a chicken thigh with another. He leaned on the truck body and asked, “Are you going to adopt her?”

Peter chuckled and asked, “Does she have a better choice?”

Ben stared at the soundly sleeping little girl on Peter’s chest for several seconds and said, “Do your best then. Give her the best family.”

“Don’t worry. I will.”, said Peter.

The two stopped talking as they looked up at the dark sky. The scene fell into silent for a moment.

Ben ate the chicken thigh in two or three bites and drunk the whole bottle of beer in one gulp. He let out a satisfying sigh and muttered, “This world is fucking crazy. In the past, I thought that fighting against enemies with guns was the hardest thing for us.”

“Now, I see that not having enough strength is the worst thing for us.”

Peter didn’t talk. Ben also stopped muttering. He put the bottle into his space bag and got into the truck bed to lie down at free space.

At the other pickup, Glenn and Mark were also lying flat in the truck bed and looking at the sky. The two men didn’t speak and just stared at the sky blankly while freeing their thoughts into their pasts.

It was as if they were no wooden figures like they always seemed to be.
