Chapter 84 - Hua Mei induces pity

Once the death of Xiao Lie had come to its conclusion, Hua Mei returned to the Xia Manor with what seemed to Yun Long be a body bag, yet to the others it just happened to be Xiao Lie who was unconscious… a tale for another day they supposed.

Currently the only people in the room were Xiao Lie, Hua Mei and Yun Long, since the Xia family went to set up dinner after she had dragged Xiao Lie back, probably because they saw his 'furious' look they wanted to give me some time alone with mother to reign her in.

'Wow… mother is being real right now… she even misspoke and unconsciously admitted that I am not her child… not that I didn't know already…'

Yun Long was so shocked, he had always thought the way she treated Xiao Lie was a bit odd, to think the backstory was so complicated. He went over and wiped her tears and comforted her a little.

"Mother, can a man not have more than one wife though? Although I understand from your perspective it was a little shocking and you felt betrayed, however you have to think things through from father's end, after all he was the number one genius and may have lost himself within his standing…" asked Yun Long since he wanted to better understand how women felt regarding having to share.

"Mn… you do make a little sense, however when we first agreed to become husband and wife, he had always told me that I was his only woman, and the only woman that he ever needed, so far as to promise me that he would never look for another wife, only to betray me for a s.l.u.t who was previously my best friend…"

"Whilst the incident did cause him to feel extreme regret, to the point where I do not think he has had another woman in all these years as punishment for himself, he also doesn't expect for me to ever forgive him, and shaped his character today… it still doesn't negate that my heart had been broken, and the only people that could fill that void was Ying'er, Xi'er and you my sweet Long'er…" she started to cry fully as she spoke the last sentence.

Yun Long looked at the pitiful figure right in front of him, leaned forward and just hugged her, before placing her head onto his c.h.e.s.t as he stroked her hair.

"Un… don't cry mother, after all I had just thought that it was normal for men to have more than one wife, in fact Qingyue told me she didn't expect to keep me for herself, so I was just wondering from a woman's perspective how they felt…" as he carried on caring for his sobbing mother.
