Harry Potter And The Dual Lord

Chapter 21 - Forbidden Forest

Arthur had shielded himself with a light shield to make himself invisible to the eye, and a dark one to make him invulnerable to detection through other senses.

So it was a clueless Elena who was sneaking in the common room. Arthur thought that maybe she was just here to chill or something like that, but as he saw her head for the exit, Arthur took off his shields and asked aloud "What could our dear princess be doing this late? Seeing a boy?"

Elena jumped in fright hearing his voice. She turned to look at him and said "How did you do that?!" Well it was more of an order than a question.

For some reason Arthur felt vexed being ordered like that. He ignored it and teased "You are in a school of magic girl."

Elena squinted her eyes and asked "Are you trying to stop me?" Arthur shrugged and replied "Depends, why do you want to go outside?"

Elena frowned and said "None of your business." Arthur took out his wand and said "Immobulus!"

Vampires are fast and have thus an advantage over human wizards for dodging, but in front of a surprise attack they are the same. The spell was too fast and before she could even get away she was frozen.

Now unable to move, Arthur continued "Orbis." The ground under Elena formed a blue vortex, very similar to the one Arthur has used in their first fight, except for the color.

Elena, unable to move, was soon knee deep in the ground. Only then Arthur freed Elena from her paralysis.

Arthur expected her to be outraged and to yell at him, but unexpectedly she was pouting. Then Arthur remembered that even though she was a princess, she was only 11… Was he too hard on her?

But then he shook his head and asked "So?" Elena looked down and said "I was going into the forbidden forest."

Arthur titled his head and asked "Aren't you afraid you will die over there? There are many things that could kill you there."

Elena looked back at him and said "But I need to! Even though the things I eat have the taste of blood, it's not blood in the end… I want blood."

Arthur sighed and said "It's only that? I could give you some…"

Elena's eyes shined and she asked "Really?!"

Arthur smiled but then said "Hell no! Do I look like a damn blood bank!"

Elena was stunned by his words and was almost brought to tears. But then Arthur added "Come on, stop crying… unless you don't want to go hunt anymore?"

Elena blinked several times trying to understand what was happening before she smiled. But then she said "How can I go hunt if I can't move?"

Arthur turned his back to her and said "And she said she wants to go to the forbidden forest…" As he said that Elena found herself taller. She looked down and realized she didn't. She had just left the ground.

Arthur, who was by the door, said "Illusion. Come on, I don't have all night."

Elena rushed at him and they both got out of the common room. As they walked down the stairs Elena asked "How did you hide in the common room?"

Arthur replied without looking at her "Magic."

Elena pouted her lips once again but panicked as she heard footsteps coming to their position.

She quietly said "Arthur, I think Filch is coming!" Arthur replied "Follow me, make the less sound possible."

She didn't know why, but Elena decided to trust him. The two got down a level before they were faced with Filch. Elena expected the grumpy janitor to see them, but he and his bloody cat walked past them as I they weren't there.

Even though she was shocked, Elena kept her promise and stayed quiet, until they reached a wall.

Elena wondered why Arthur had stopped, but when he pushed a hidden button and revealed a secret way she understood. She understood she would have never been able to get out on her own.

The tunnel led the duo outside the castle, in front of the infamous forest. As they were about to get in Elena said "Thank you."

Arthur didn't look at her as he replied "What's your goal?"

Elena replied without thinking "Surviving!" She thought that this was the most logical answer. After all, for her, wasn't this the only good option?

Arthur finally looked at her and said "Then you won't live past 15." Elena frowned and asked "Why?"

Arthur sneered and said "You will be stuck. The more you seek something, the furthest it will go. You must let nature take its course."

Elena tilted her head and said "But why 15? From what I understood, with the spell you created you can delay the time of my death?"

Arthur looked at her coldly and said "I won't help someone who is worthless! If I help you then you must be of some value."

Elena then asked "What must I do to be valuable?" She was completely entranced by what he was saying.

Arthur turned back to look at the forest and said "Where would the fun be if I told you the answer so early? Find by yourself. Of course, you can try to do it by yourself and ignore me… To be honest, I don't even really wanted to stay with you at the beginning."

Elena realized that it would be futile to ask why so instead she said "What changed your mind?"

Arthur chuckled "I realized how weak your clan is. At first I thought hanging out with you would make me powerful enemies, but I realized I overestimated you all. Except for that king of yours, none of you are powerful enough to threaten me."

"Previously I thought the ministry had given you what you wanted because of your strength, but it seems strength was not the reason the deal was struck… I wonder what you did to get such a huge favor from the ministry?"

Elena ignored his question and said "Then will you stay with me?" Arthur shrugged and began advancing toward the forest "As a friend? Maybe."

Elena followed him in the forest and asked "Could you let me hunt without help first?"

Arthur shrugged and replied "If you want. Don't blame me if shit happens though." Elena nodded and strode in the forest, trying to regain some of her pride.

When she was with Arthur, she would always feel like she was controlled, as if everything was within his palms. Moreover, his habit of launching curses at her didn't help… What kind of sane person would attack before talking?

However her thoughts were interrupted by the sound of soft steps. She could only pick them up thanks to her enhanced senses.

She knew something was waiting in ambush in a bush, but she acted as if she didn't know and continued walking.

A few steps later, the thing in the bush fiercely pounced at her, about to shred her apart. Elena recognized the beast as a wolf. A giant one though.

But it was just fine for her. As it was about to make contact with her, she suddenly stepped back, dodging the sharp teeth coming for her head, then she grabbed its neck and forcefully brought it to the ground.

Her overwhelming strength crushed the wolf's neck as it collided with the hard ground. As she made sure she killed the wolf she got up in her disheveled state.

She looked at Arthur but was only met with his ice cold eyes. She suddenly felt something was amiss. She saw a silver blur in the corner of her eye and knew she wouldn't have the time to block that wolf.

She waited for Arthur to intervene but suddenly remembered his words 'I won't help someone who is worthless!'

She realized she was alone on this one, then her body was knocked over, the wolf's fangs deep in her neck, her blood already spraying on the ground, dying her vision red.
