Harry Potter And The Dual Lord

Chapter 36 - Beasts' hierarchy

Arthur pushed open the door, and a fool invaded their senses. It smelled as if something was rotting. Arthur scrunched his nose and looked around.

The shop was very dark, with only a few candles here and there, showing shelves that were acc.u.mulating dust. There were transparent jars on those shelves, but they were much cleaner with no dust on them.

Though their insides were disgusting. Sealed in some kind of liquid, body part of different animals and even humans were floating. Most were in good condition, but some jars were cracked, the fluid gone from it, and the organ rotting.

Now they knew where the smell came from. But it wasn't normal. Which shopkeeper, however shady they are, would let their product turn like this? And living with this smell must be abominable.

But there didn't seem to be anyone there. Elena had a night vision thanks to her vampire traits, so she could see as well as during the day, while Arthur didn't have a problem with darkness either.

So nothing could be hidden from them in this small shop, and except for the door at the back of the room, there was no trace of a possible shopper.

Still the two waited in the middle of the room as the shopkeeper could arrive at any moment. But after some time there was no movement so Arthur said "We came here to use the floo powder. Then we will use a portkey where we will land."

In the shop there was a big fireplace, which was the shop main and only legal business, a fireplace part of the floo system.

A pot with green ash in it was fixed on the wall next to the fireplace. Usually customers had to pay but something had obviously happened to the shopkeeper and Arthur knew it was none of his business. He was in enough danger already, he would rather not go and get trouble for someone he never met.

Arthur grabbed a handful of powder and asked Elena "Do you know how this works?" Elena shook her head and said "There is no such thing in my castle."

Arthur nodded and said "Of course, the network only extends to the edges of the UK, your castle isn't within it. By the way, how did you come to Britain?"

Elena shrugged and replied "We reared flying mounts. Golden Ravens. They are giant ravens that can fly very quickly and can use some magic related to wind. It's very fast. But most importantly, it is an offspring of the legendary Roc bird. I heard that even most dragons can't deal with them, as only the eldest and most powerful dragons that are at the top of their social ladder can fight with them."

Arthur smirked but said nothing as he silently disagreed. The animal/beast kingdom is way more complicated than that, but at the same time it is also simpler.

Beasts are like humans and wizards, they are divided in the different levels. But what most wizards don't know is the very existence of levels.

The only dragons they caught were the average ones who were peak level 1. But they are considered average or even weak among dragons.

Merlin told Arthur before that Dragons were a very powerful race that was divided in lots of clans and species. An average dragon has the power of peak level 1, the Elite is hovering over level 2, and the elders and leaders should be peak level 2 from what Merlin found in ancient texts.

What Elena thought to be the best of the dragons are merely the trash elite who want people worshiping them. The true powerful dragons are like gods, they hide from the world as it has no interest for them. Some dragons are gods as if there weren't any they wouldn't stand a chance against the different pantheons. So there has to be some level 3 dragons out there, maybe the ancestors or something like that.

It is the same for many beasts clans, including the Roc. They are very powerful but they don't match well with dragons. Their best advantage is their huge body and speed, but their attacks mainly are wind related so it doesn't fare well against fire.

Arthur walked into the fireplace and said "Floo powder is very simple. You only have to take a handful of powder, say the name of the fireplace you want to go in and throw the powder down."

Elena looked at him disbelievingly and asked "It's that simple?" Arthur nodded and said "We don't have the time right now for explanations but you must know that in our world names are vert important and powerful. Some can even enchant them so that anyone who say it aloud would have their exact position revealed. For example, Voldemort knows where I am right now, although I suspect he isn't powerful enough to know who I am since we never met… Anyway, imitate my actions."

Arthur stopped looking at her and looked straight in front of him and said "Oakshaw."

He dropped the powder and as the first grains of sand made contact with the ground, green flames appeared and spread over Arthur's body. He felt no discomfort or heat from the flames, but they seemed to be heavy, as if they had the mass of a cloak.

His vision had now turned green and when it disappeared, he wasn't in the shop anymore. In front of him was a huge square that was so big that he couldn't see the end of it, with countless tents everywhere, as well as fireplaces with constant in and out.

Arthur stepped forward and admired the view until he saw flashes of green coming from behind. He turned around and saw Elena was there.

Actually this was the first time they used it for both, but Arthur had seen the movies and read the books so he knew how to do it. It was good that Elena didn't make a mistake and appeared at the other end of England.

Elena walked next to him, looking at the marvelous sight in front of them. Other than the countless amount of tents, the fact that they were underground was impressive too as the roof was beautiful.

The rocks had formed spics that looked like stalactites from which drops of water were falling down. But none arrived to the ground or the tents as a magical field has been placed to stop the droplets.

But it made the show even more beautiful as if you have a good vision you can see the droplets slide against the barrier and enter the lake surrounding them.

That's right, the place they were currently in was an underground island on a lake that has been formed by droplets!

For this lake to form hundreds or thousands or even more years must have passed. Of course maybe it only exists since not long ago but the lake was filled by magic. But Arthur didn't want to believe it as the place would lose its beauty, and anyway this place is here since a very long time so it shouldn't be the case.

Elena got him out of his thoughts when she asked "What are we going to do about the Trace? Underage wizards can't use magic outside Hogwarts without getting detected by the ministry. If we do and get caught consequence could be severe, especially to the two of us."

Arthur nodded "That's why I only used wandless magic until now. Now I have a solution. But before let me present you this place."

Arthur extended his arms outwards and said "This, is Oakshaw. The biggest illegal portkey location. Here you can find portkeys to go almost everywhere in the world. There is at least one for each mid class nation, and thousands in Europe. It is also probably one of the biggest markets in the world."

Elena raised an eyebrow and asked "But?"

Arthur smiled and continued "But it is also the biggest black market in the world with countless dark wizards and criminals running shops here. Some among them can even erase the trace on our wands. So it's all good. We will be able to go wherever we want and erase the Trace. An awesome place isn't it?"
