Harry Potter’s Raven’s Claw

5th grade sorting hat song

A long time ago when I was a new hat, before Hogwarts was built, the four founders of Noble House thought they would never part ways.

The same goal binds them together, and their desires are so unanimous: to build the best magic school in the world, so that their knowledge can be passed on and continued.

"We will build schools together and teach together!"

The four friends are very determined, but they never dreamed that one day they would be separated from each other.

What friend in the world could be better than Slytherin and Gryffindor?

Unless you count another pair of close friends—

Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw?

How could such a good thing go wrong?

How could such a friendship be wiped out?

Alas, I saw this sad story firsthand, so I can tell you all here.

"The students I teach must be of the purest blood," Slytherin said.

Ravenclaw said: "The students I teach have to be intellectually superior."

Gryffindor said: "The students I teach must be brave and fearless."

"I'm going to teach a lot of people and treat them equally," Hufflepuff said.

The first time these differences surfaced, a small spat erupted.

Each of the four founders owns an academy and only admits the teenagers they want.

Slytherin's wizards are pure blood and scheming like themselves.

Only those younger generation with the sharpest minds can listen to the teachings of Ravenclaw.

Anyone who is daring and adventurous is admitted to the House by the brave Gryffindor.

The rest were accepted by the kind Hufflepuff, who taught them all her skills.

This is how a strong and sincere friendship is maintained.

During those many happy years, the teaching at Hogwarts was pleasant and harmonious.

But then the division slowly emerged, intensified by our shortcomings and fears.

The four colleges are like four stone pillars, which once held our school firmly.

Now they turn against each other, disputes continue, and everyone wants to take power alone.

There was a time when the school was on the verge of dying.

Countless noises, countless fights, old friends turned against each other.

Then finally one morning, the elderly Slytherin suddenly ran away.

Although the strife had subsided by then, he left us in despair.

There are only three of the four founders left. From then on, the situation of the four academies is no longer as harmonious and united as it was imagined in the past.

Now that the Sorting Hat is in front of you, you all know where it came from: I put you in each House because my responsibilities cannot be changed.

But this year I want to say a few more words, please listen carefully to my new song:

Although I am destined to divide you, I fear it is not the right thing to do.

Although I have to do my duty to divide the new year into four, I fear that such a division will lead to the collapse I fear.

Oh, know the danger, read the omens, the lessons of history warn us, our Hogwarts is in danger, and enemies outside the school are watching.

We must be united within, otherwise everything will fall apart from within.

I have spoken to you, I have sounded the alarm for you...
