~ Episode 3~

Ishid was the only friend I could open up to in the Velos Security team to which I was assigned without an association.

He was also my comrade. But when he got involved with the female heroine; Eljevita, he faced an unfortunate ending.

The three years of talking to each other frequently had resulted in something great which is, we became best friends, unintentionally.

“I didn’t hear you coming. When did you get here?”

“……”

“Ishid?”

I asked him with a tap on my arm out of joy, but his reaction was not good enough.

What’s this? He wasn’t usually like this.

He remained silent all the time despite my actions to say something.

I turned my head to the spot where he was unanimous.

The destination of his eyes was on the poster I had just been looking at.

‘Ah. It was because of that.’

When I found out the reason, I suddenly sighed.

After all, as a friend, he was the one who didn’t want my qualifications downgraded.

“I’m sorry I couldn’t grant your wish.”

“….Rose.”

“I’ll come visit you often when I am out and check if you’re doing well. That’d be fine, right?”

He patted me on the shoulder with a bitter look on his face and offered words of consolation, but there was no use.

I saw Ishid looking down at me with an already wounded face, and instead of spitting out an answer, he hugged me tight and said.

The jacket that had touched me softly wrapped around me again.

“A meeting… .. it can’t be all right.”

“Come on. Are you envious that I’m leaving?”

“Rose, you say strange words even now and then.”
“Ha ha. Is this weird?”

He was from a prestigious family who protected the royal family for generations, and it was unlikely that he would admire the lives of ordinary people even though he was ordinary with a level of B+ in the offensive community.

Good academic background, good ability.
He was known as the ace in our team because he was so nice.

It was natural that Ishid, who lives in this perfect environment, took my words strangely.

But as long as he is happy and good, isn’t that enough?

After a brief hug with Ishid, I shrugged and replied to him.

“Anyway, I’m leaving. That’s tomorrow.”

After hearing the answer, Ishid covered his forehead with a troubled face.

“You are leaving so quickly. The Royal Security Service is famous for its sharpness in this respect. I’ve been thinking about your disposition for years, so I’ve been thinking maybe it’ll come out like that. But after experiencing it, it feels a bit strange.”

“Me, too. My heart is racing to death.”

I’m feeling strangely fuzzy, because I slept all night.
I scratched my cheek and smiled brightly at Ishid.

When he saw me, he stuck out his tongue..

“This is really… Because Lutiens gave birth to a different species.”

As usual, the face he showed was an expression that seemed to represent his inner feelings.

Those eyes that can only be seen between true friends.

It was a reaction that was ingrained in his body during the three years I had known him.

If it were the original Ishid Fernando, he never would have shown this expression to someone other than the female protagonist, Eljevita as he was pouring all his emotions onto her.
The bamboo forest called ‘Elcevita’ which was thought to have been found earlier, and the only resting place, was just a poison to Ishid.

But now he has a slightly different personality as he is opening up to me.

Now that this has happened, at least Ishid will never be as unhappy as the story in the novel for emotional isolation.

Feeling proud, I gave him a thumbs up.

“You’ve done a lot of work for this freak, Isid Fernando?”

“Don’t make fun of me, Rose.”

“You got me.”

Unfortunately, when I smacked my lips, I heard the sound of a deflated smile.

Ishid was shaking his shoulders, covering his mouth.

The face, which had been serious for a while, seemed calm and subdued.

“So, you’re going to attend today’s King’s banquet?”

“Oh, that.”

Of course I won’t  go.
Ishid’s eyes narrowed when he stopped talking without being able to open his mouth.

I had a hunch at that moment.
Even though I was caught inside, I was caught by him who was quick-witted like a ghost.

“Attend the banquet. Rose Lutiens.”

“I’m tired because the examination is over. Can’t I not go? They only need two people from each team anyway so it’s not like our attendance is required either..”
“It’s my wish.”

“…..”

I knew this would happen.
I can’t believe you’re using that to make me go.

I looked at him with astonished eyes, but there was no correction.

” Since you didn’t keep your promise to not be disqualified, at least, promise me this one.”
“Oh….”

“You are going to come and show your face to the team members. It’s also a place where you’ll say goodbye. If you don’t come today, when can you say hi to each other again? It’s not easy to get together because everyone is working outside.”

I wanted to refute it, but I couldn’t open my mouth easily because everything Ishid had said was right.

The incidents in the estate, where there was no quiet day, used to provide us with endless days of rest.

Of course, I don’t have the ability to drink and play.
The answer became prudent as I thought of the team members who were busy with security and healing all day.

Come to think of it, it’s really hard not to go.

Unfortunately, there was no way I could avoid it here.

I quietly lowered my gaze and accepted Ishid’s words.

“Well done, Rose. The entrance to the banquet hall is at 6 p.m., about two hours from now. Your partner is always me, so when you’re ready, get out of the building, okay?”
“Yeah.”

“See you on time then.”
“Yes…”

Unlike Ishid, who turned bright, me with a wistful expression on my face, waved softly at the back of his departure.
Two hours later.

I thought it would be a little tight to get ready for the party.
Following Ishid, who left first, I also stepped towards the accommodation.
I didn’t know until then.
On this day, I was the person who should be absent at the Banquet Hall.

“Why isn’t he coming out?”

There was no one who rushed out with simple accessories after checking the dress in a hurry in case it was too late.
I felt a little despondent.
Are you suggesting a surprise to me?
Where’s Ishid Fernando, who said he’d see me in front of the building on time?

I thought about whether I should leave him behind for a while, but I quit.

Of course, even if I had only received F grade, attending a party without a partner was like degrading my own prestige.

Just because I don’t care about everything, I wasn’t happy to be looked down on until the last day of work.
I want to quit my job with a smile on my face.

“Whoa, what are you doing with a friend, Ishid Fernando?”

By the time I repeated dozens of times of holding down my pride and walking around in front of the building.

The time had passed six o’clock and was getting closer to the next digit.
I turned my back, putting back the watch I was holding silently.

My dear friend, I didn’t feel very good about being stood up, but I was worried why.

Did something happen in a hurry?

In a moment, I thought about going back into the building to find Ishid.

But before I could make a decision, someone who appeared from somewhere grabbed my arm.

“Ah…!”

“Excuse me for a moment.”

The pain that was engraved was from a young hand.

What are you doing, you human?
The moment I was caught by someone I didn’t know, I looked up with dissatisfied eyes.

But for a while he also did the same.

“I have a question for Miss, are you free?”

“…?”

I soon lowered my head and closed my eyes.
‘Oh, my God, crazy… ‘

how can this be…. It can’t be!

I wish someone could tell me I was wrong.
On a pleasant day like now, an incredible but terrible moment came to me.

“Miss.”

“…”

“Miss? Can’t you hear me?”

‘Please don’t talk to me… ..’

Ignoring the question, I looked up as much as I could and covered my face with my hair.

If possible, never make eye contact and never make a voice.
It’s best not to be seen in the eyes of someone who’s supposed to have a personality like that.

This seemed to be the best I could do here.
The appearance of Carlos, the male protagonist whom I suddenly met without notice, turned my face white.

“… . How can you ignore people so openly? Whose family are you from?”

His violet eyes were filled with anger, unlike his calm impression.

Hair that resembles a chestnut that was nervously turned over with his hands.

What’s so frustrating about it? Even the lip shape that used to be described as ‘twisty’ when it gets upset.

At first glance, I gathered the descriptions in the book and took glances at him and came to a final conclusion.

Perfect!
‘Oh, my God. It’s Carlos.’

This man is really the main character of this novel.
