Help...My Wife Is A Spy

Chapter 10 - Do You Have A Boyfriend?

"Look, Sara, look what auntie got you?" Halia was awoken by a gentle voice.

"Did she just call me Sara? This must be one of Sara's memories again," Halia thought to herself as she began to look around. She was starting to get used to these memories.

This time, she was at an amus.e.m.e.nt park and there was a woman walking towards her with ice cream. This woman...she liked this woman, so she smiled happily and accepted the ice cream with her tiny hands.

It was a memory from Sara's childhood. "Yes, people often say that you remember your childhood before you die," Halia thought. "But why aren't I having a memory of my own?"

Halia licked the ice cream. "This is yummy, Auntie" she said. "I've never had this flavor before, what is it?"

Sara had never tasted this flavor before, but Halia knew what it was straight away.

"It's peanut butter," the woman replied with a smile.

Judging by her own voice and the size of her hands and feet, Halia guessed she was roughly 6-7-years old. Why was she suddenly having this memory?

Just as Halia went in for a bite of the ice cream, she suddenly felt her throat tighten. It got tighter and tighter, to the point where she couldn't breathe. She dropped the ice cream from her hands and fell to the floor. "Sara!!" her step mother cried.

That's when Halia knew what was happening - Sara was allergic to nuts!

She then remembered that her pasta had pine nuts when she looked down at it. But, that didn't make sense, how could an allergy be transferred through a memory?

Just as she was plunged into darkness, she heard her name, "Halia...Halia..."

Halia slowly opened her eyes again. The dimples that appeared in front of her were very familiar.

It was Dr. Yan!

"You didn't want to leave this place, did you?" he laughed.

Halia looked around and realized she was back at the emergency ward in PUH.

"I was just about to finish my shift when a guy carried you in here and said you had fainted," Dr. Yan explained.

"What happened?" Halia asked confusedly.

"We're not sure either. He said you stopped breathing and fainted. But after you fainted, you started breathing again. It sounds like you had a panic attack. Have you been really stressed lately?"

"Maybe it's the new job..." Halia quickly made an excuse, but she was beginning to understand what may have happened.

If Sara knew she was allergic to nuts and had been avoiding it all her life, it would have shocked her when she saw the nuts in the pasta that Halia ordered. So...she had a panic attack.

Which meant, Jackson didn't stalk her or poison her.

He saved her!

"Where's the guy that brought me in here?" Halia asked as she looked around.

"He left after he made sure you were OK," Dr. Yan replied. The handsome young doctor then leaned forward and helped Halia sit up. Halia felt his warm hands on her shoulders and it sent tingles down her spine. "Are you feeling better? I'm finishing work now, do you want me to drive you home?" he offered gently.

"My car's still at the restaurant," Halia replied.

"I'll drive you there to fetch it then."

Halia nodded.

After Dr. Yan returned his coat to the locker room, he came back out to get Halia. He was wearing a navy blue shirt that showed a slight outline of his toned body, which was previously hidden beneath his doctor's coat.

"Ready?" he asked as he approached.

Halia smiled and stepped out of the bed. She then followed Dr. Yan down to the parking lot to fetch his car.

...

"Are you OK to drive?" Dr. Yan asked as they pulled up opposite Halia's car.

"Yes, I'm perfectly fine," Halia replied as she undid her seatbelt.

"Are you sure you don't want to call a friend...or a boyfriend to come get you?" Dr. Yan asked.

Halia looked at the man sitting next to her, he was blushing a little. Was he trying to check if she had a boyfriend?

"I don't mean anything by that. I just want to make sure that you get home safely," Dr. Yan quickly explained.

Halia blushed and took a deep breath, "I don't have a boyfriend and my friends live too far away. I've only moved to Beijing a few weeks ago. I don't really know anyone here."

"So, you're all on your own?" he asked.

Halia suddenly panicked, did she just reveal that she was a single female living all on her own to a potential serial killer?

"Well, not exactly! I have a dog. A really big and protective one. I also have the guy that brought me to the hospital earlier, he's a friend I recently made," Halia quickly lied.

"Oh really? I've seen that guy before. He's come to the hospital a few times. I think Lily has a thing for him," Dr. Yan laughed. "But, I heard he's a gangster, you should be careful around him."

After he finished speaking, Dr. Yan got out of the car and walked around to open the door for Halia.

"Give me your phone number, message me when you get home safely," he said casually as he handed her his phone.

Halia quickly typed in her phone number and handed the phone back to the young doctor.

"Thank you, Dr. Yan," Halia smiled.

"I told you before. Please call me Isaac," Isaac Yan smiled, exposing his charming dimples again.

"Are you working tomorrow?" he asked.

Halia nodded.

"I'll see you tomorrow, then."

Halia waved as she watched Isaac return to his car. She then got into her car and drove away.

Only after she disappeared around the corner, did Isaac start his engine and drive off as well...
