Hessian Does A Thing

Chapter 30 - Divine runes

Hessian POV

Walking towards the barren wasteland that was for some odd reason called a palace. I can't help but think, Am I walking into a trap? No seriously, Ereshkigal was obviously expecting me considering the gates were specifically for me. Now that I think about it, doesn't she technically know most of what I can do? I might just be screwed, but then again. I am a True Magician with literally infinite energy. Whether it be magical or spiritual.

I have a servant that literally has access to my vast amounts of energy. Granted she is a defensive servant, still! I honestly can't imagine losing. Ereshkigal has mid-level divinity at best according to king Gilgamesh.

"Do not be so complacent, Hessian." I turned to look at Gilgamesh

"What do you mean?" I ask as I felt like the man could read my thoughts. Actually he probably could considering he has a skill that allows him to just know things.

"You have that ugly expression on your face that I've seen all too often." He shakes his head "Someone who is so assured of his power, that they don't believe anything can truly challenge them if they were to go all out." he spoke as if reminiscing. Is he talking about himself? It sounds a lot like his archer form. "Perhaps you truly do have reason to be so complacent. However this complacency is nothing more than a form of arrogance."

"Were up against Ereshkigal and I know pretty much most of what she can do. I also understand that she understands my own capabilities as well." I say as I remember sparring against the goddess a few times to test things out. "To be honest, in a head on fight. I think I stand a good chance."

"Fool! Regardless of what you believe to know of the goddess that is so infatuated with you. You must never forget that she is a god." He berates "That title is not for show. Your disposition in trying to pick apart everything that intrigues you has led you to become overconfident."

"To truly aspire to learn everything when it comes to divine power is a fool's claim." he declared as I stew over his words.

"So it's more than just a simple energy source" I ask intrigued

"It is indeed a source of power but at the same time it is not, it is authority. Never forget this, for now prepare yourself." He says as we come to the barren wasteland "Although, I also believe we have a good chance of victory."

"Weren't you just chiding me about being overconfident?" I say exasperated at the double standard

"It's just a wasteland?" I hear mash ask as she surveys the area.

"That is what the underworld is." The king responds "Not one gorgeous thing exists here"

"AHEM!" I cough as I drop another flower but he ignores me.

"Isn't that right? O queen of the gallu spirits who gazes at the sky of darkness!" he spoke grandly as the temperature began to dip.

"Since when did you turn into a hype man!?" I retort as the wind kicks up and blood red liquid takes the shape of a sphere.

"The temperature is rapidly decreasing, it's basically become -6 degrees Celsius now! That's the lower limit of biological activity!" I hear Roman speak out

I let Onyx turn into my Frost suit as I watch Ereshkigal in her Gallu spirit form burst from the blood sphere.

"Fear...pray.... and despair, humans." The blood begins to wash off her as her bones return to a white "I am the keeper of death, ruler of the underworld. The one who tramples the sacred mountain. I am Ereshkigal!"

"WOMAN, EVERY TIME YOU WANTED TO ACT COOL LIKE THAT, I HAD TO REPLACE OUR HEATER!" I yell out as I remember having to replace the heater multiple times a month due to the deadly cold wave that comes from her chuuni introductions.

"Sinful Hessian, I've been waiting for you." the giant Gallu spirit spoke as she gazed directly at the suited magician

"I brought flowers." he responded as he continued to flick more seeds towards the distance "Also can you let Gilgamesh come back with us? We kind of need him."

"How thoughtful of you, but enough of that. How about we catch up?" she said as a light spear materialized next to her

"I can dig it! I'm-"

"You're next line is, I'm bout to wreck your shit!" the Goddess of the underworld declared as she pointed at the young magician

"bout to wreck your shit! NANI!!!?" Hessian became surprised as she quoted JoJo

"She knew exactly what Senpai would say!" the demi-servant exclaimed

"Mash guard me for a moment!" the young magician says as a dome of crystal and mana expanded around them

"Yes Master!" she said as she positioned herself in front of him

"What I d.e.s.i.r.e is his soul, standing in my way will only result in death." stone pillars erected from the ground at the shield-servant but she stood firm.

Golden beams shot towards Ereshkigal only for her to ignore them.

"The dead cannot stand against me. I have not joined the Three-goddess alliance, which means that your royal authority is useless against me!" Ereshkigal laughed as the king's attacks were useless

"Fool! It was merely a distraction!" the king smirked

"What?!" Ereshkigal looked around to see the mana globe gone and replaced with thousands of pages circling the air

"This should be enough!" Thousands of pages subsequently lit up "I never liked fire, so this might hurt a bit" Hessian spoke as the pages all transitioned into burning spells

The Underworld shook from the force of the burning explosion while Mash stood in front of the young magician.

"Whew, I'm getting faster at that." Hessian commented as he took in his handiwork

"I believe it was a direct hit"

"Alright, I think it's over." Ishtar says from on top of Fou

"Indeed, it's over" Everyone became alarmed as Ereshkigal's voice sounded from within the smoke.

"AAAARRRRGGHH" Hessian's screams came after

"MASTER!"

"That is... your authority?" the king asks as he gazed at the divine runes constricting the young magician. His warframe f.o.r.c.i.b.l.y turned back into a belt leaving him vulnerable.

"Indeed, It took a bit of time but I managed to reconnect with the runes I placed on his mystic code all those years ago." The death goddess said as a cage began to surround the pained magician

"I won't let you touch him!" the demi-servant stood before the goddess as she gazed down at her.

"You no longer have access to his magical energy." The goddess said as she smacked the shield servant towards the wall. "My divine runes are restraining the source of his magical energy. Even if he creates more through magic. The runes will only grow stronger by feeding off the excess."

She spoke as she continued to walk towards the trapped Hessian. "Which means you are merely a servant without any energy." she said with some contempt

The goddess turned back into her human form as she placed her hand on the cage, admiring her work. "I've waited a long time for this, Hessian." She smiled as the young magician continued to scream.
