His Little Pet

Chapter 17 - Meeting His Parents

I was still amazed by the look of the car he was driving. He usually has a driver, and they're in a black BMW. This one was a two seater sporty looking red and black car.

"What kind of car is this?"

"It's a Koenigsegg Agera RS. One of the fastest cars in the world, with a top speed of 284.55 mph."

Seriously?! It goes that fast and it's not even the fastest car??

"One of the fastest? How fast does the top car go?"

"304 mph."

He said it so casually, as if he wasn't really impressed. I didn't say anything else, just sat there in silence as we drove. I still wasn't sure where we were going.

We drove for about an hour, and I was getting a little impatient and anxious.

"Where are we going Roman? We've been driving for an hour and you still haven't said anything. How much further do we have to go?"

"About five more minutes Kätzchen and we'll be there. We're going to see some family."

~~~~~
I was just about to start making the breakfast when my phone rang. I stared at the name on the screen for a minute before I answered.
"Good morning Ma."
"Roman, my sweet boy. How is everything? How have you been? I feel like it's been ages since we've last spoke."
We could talk everyday and she would say the same thing. As loving and worried about me as usual. Didn't matter if I was five or fifty, she'd treat me the same either way.
"Ma, you just called me last week. I wouldn't say that it's been ages. I'm doing well though, everything's going good right now. How are you and Pa doing? How's the Tokyo trip going?"
"That's good dear, your Pa and I are doing great. We're through with the Tokyo trip, that's actually why I'm calling. We're back home for a while and were hoping to get all of us together tonight for some dinner. I'd really love it if you'd be able to join us, if you're free of any work that is."
Dinner tonight? All of us? That's a little unexpected.
"Tonight? Um, I'm actually with someone for the day and-"
"You can bring them along dear. Who is it? Is it one of your work friends that we know? Or is it a girl? Oh you certainly have to bring her along if it is, you haven't brought a girl home in so long. I'd love to meet her."
Just like my mother. She's been nagging me since a few months after Airi and I split up about when I'll bring a girl to meet them. About how I need to get back out there. She means well though, she wants to see me happy.
"Are you sure Ma? You won't mind me bringing someone for one of our family dinners?"
"Oh Roman, of course not! If she's worth your time then she's worth ours. How long have you been together, and why haven't you told your mother about her yet?"
"Ma, take it easy will you? I'm honestly not sure if we're actually together, not just yet. It's all fairly new, and she wants to take things slow, as do I. So please lay low when we get there okay? I don't need you running her off, I've got a good feeling about her. I'd like for her to actually stick around."
I could hear the smile in her voice.
"Yes, okay. As you wish my dear. I'm just so happy for you, finally putting yourself back out there."
"Okay, well I'm about to make breakfast Ma, I got to go. I'll be there in a few hours okay? I love you."
I hung up the phone and stood there thinking. Should I tell her right away? Should I just take her there without telling her where we're going? Should I ask her if she'd even like to go? I don't want to run her off with the whole meeting the parents thing so early on...
~~~~~

Family? What does he mean we're going to see some family? Like, meeting his parents kind of family?

"I'm sorry it's a bit unexpected, I wasn't aware of it until this morning myself. My parents just got back from their trip to Tokyo and wanted to get everyone together for dinner. She insisted I bring you along when I mentioned I was with someone for the day. I'm sorry, I know I should have told you before I dragged you all the way out here. I just wanted more time with you today, and didn't want you to say no."

After driving down a driveway I thought would never end, we finally reached a house. More specifically a mansion sized house. It wasn't a modern looking one like Romans, this one seemed to fit more in the times of castles and dragons.

We pulled around the circular driveway and parked. He turned the car off but we just sat there for a moment, neither of us saying anything.

"Well, if I would have known this was where we were going, I probably would have dressed for the occasion."

Roman turned to me with a confused look.

"What? I wouldn't really say this is dinner attire at a place like this. This house looks like it would be fit for a queen."

I gave a warm smile in hopes I'd make him feel a little better. He gave a smile back.

"Kätzchen, you could turn the heads of everyone in the room no matter what you wore."

I looked down and blushed. Of course he would turn it around like that.

"Come on, let's head inside."

As we walked up the huge set of steps to the front door, my stomach suddenly felt a little nauseous. I was more nervous than I thought I would be..

Roman reached down and grabbed my hand, it was like he could sense my nervousness. We stopped as we reached the door and I gripped his hand a little tighter.

"You sure you're okay right now? We can head back if you'd like."

"We've already made it this far, no sense in turning back now."

He reached for the handle and swung open the door. We stepped inside and I was immediately blown away at how lovely the house was. Then we were immediately greated by a gorgeous, very small, woman. I'm only 5'4" and she was about eye level with my b.o.o.b.s. She had shoulder length black hair and very fair colored skin. She was of Asian descent, which I guess would explain Romans very non German last name, and she wore a beautiful black kimono with red and pink flowers flowing all over.

She instantly went and embraced Roman in a hug, who had to bend down quite far to return the gesture. If I had to guess, he was between 6'2" and 6'4".

"Hello Ma, how's everything been? How was your trip?"

"Oh, I missed you my little Romes. Everything's good, the trip was splendid.. But we'll talk about that later. Go on, be the gentleman I raised and introduce me to this lovely woman you've brought with you."

He stood back up and chuckled at her, then grabbed my hand and pulled me closer.

"Ma, this is Zylith. She works in my company as our new marketing manager."

I extended my hand out to her.

"Hello Mrs. Li. It's a p.l.e.a.s.u.r.e to meet you."

Instead of grabbing my hand, she reached right past it and pulled me into a hug just as she did with Roman. It definitely took me by surprise, and I looked at Roman. He smiled and motioned for me to hug back, so I did.

"Oh what a beautiful name for such a beautiful young lady. It's been so long since my Roman brought a lovely girl home. How's he treating you? Tell me if he's not treating you respectfully, I'll woop him into place, okay dear?"

I couldn't help but laugh at that, and Roman just gave me one of those looks.

"Oh no need to worry Mrs. Li, he's always a perfect gentleman. He's very kind and caring."

"Good, that's just what I want to hear, just the way I raised him. And please, call me Ma."

She turned and headed off. Roman grabbed my hand again and we followed behind, entering and enormous dining area. There were already a lot of people sitting around the huge table, chatting amongst themselves.

We stopped at the end of the table, where a small man sat. He looked to be a little bit older than Romans mom, who I assumed was his dad.

"Roman my son, it's so nice to see you. It's been too long since we've sat here to have a proper dinner. How's everything going? And who is lovely lady we have here?"

Roman leaned down and gave him hug before replying.

"Everything's good. Pa, this is Zylith. She works as the marketing manager in my company."

He extended a hand out to me and I took it. Then he pulled me into a hug, just as Romans mom did.

"It's a p.l.e.a.s.u.r.e meeting you Mr. Li."

I hugged back until he let go.

"And how long have you been hiding this one from us, Roman? Why is it now that we're just meeting this beautiful lady?"

I ducked my head down to hide the blushing. His parents were the sweetest little couple I've met in years.

"I haven't been hiding anyone, Pa."

His dad scoffed at him as he said that.

"It's been far too long since you've brought a lady back home. Are you finally moving forward away from that witch? We would like our grandkids before we're too old now."

I was handed a glass of wine from one of the servers, and was taking a sip. I almost spit it out at his dad's comment, it was really quite unexpected. Instead I managed to choke it back.

"Oh, are you okay dear? Don't listen to him, he's been nagging Roman for the longest time about grandkids. Don't mind him."

His mom came out of nowhere, trying to brush off the comment his dad had just made. Roman placed a hand on my shoulder, leaning down closer to me.

"Are you alright, Kätzchen? Do you need to step out for some air?"

I nervously smiled up at him and set my glass on the tray of another server walking by.

"No, I'm alright thank you. Could I use the restroom though?"

"Of course, I'll show you there."

He grabbed my hand and lead me down a couple hallways.

"He's quite the blunt one, isn't he?"

He chuckled at that as we reached the restroom and he let go of my hand.

"That he is. I'm sorry, don't pay much attention to his ramblings. He talks without thinking first sometimes. I'll be waiting out there for you."

He lightly kissed the top of my head before heading back to the dinning hall. I stepped into the massive restroom and just stood in front of the mirror, staring at my reflection.

Relax. You can do this. It's just dinner. What are you getting all worked up for anyways?

I splashed a little cold water on my face to calm my nerves, then sat on the toilet to recollect myself before heading back out.

I attempted to find my way back to the dinning hall, but there were too many halls and I got turned around. I somehow found myself in an indoor garden, with a beautiful wall waterfall flowing into a koi fish pond. The room was completely filled with gorgeous plants, and it was the most relaxing place I've probably ever stepped into.

"There you are. I was getting worried about you, are you okay Kätzchen?"

Roman entered the room and sat next to me by the pond as I played with the fish.

"Sorry, I got turned around. This place is massive, how do you find your way around here anyways?"

"Years of getting lost. You eventually learn the layout."

We both laughed then sat in silence for a moment.

"I haven't been in this room in years. I practically used to live in here, along with the library. They were always the most peaceful, relaxing places I could go."

"It is really nice. I'd love a room like this, I don't think I'd ever leave."

"Well in that case, I guess I'll have to get the builders back out to the house, now won't I? Come on Kätzchen, let's head back out before they start jumping to conclusions."
