Chapter 30 “They’re Bathing or Fighting Part 1?”

“This is where you’ll be living.” After parking the car, Dawn pointed to his house that’s bordering on the edge of shabbiness, “I don’t know much about the Blood Race, but if you have any other requests, you can mention them to me. I will try to meet them as best as I can.”

Patty’s expression was mild and frank: “I don’t need anything special, just a safe place to rest.”

Dawn pats his chest in confidence: “Then we are good on that part. This is the suburbs, and there’s hardly any traffic flow around this area. On top of that, the city has no plans to redevelop these parts so it’s all peace and quiet aside from the barbecue stalls.”

The way the guy said it sounded almost self-ridicule because it was. He’s a young man, of course Dawn wanted some flare in his life. However, the residents here are primarily elderly and a few young people, meaning there’s no market for flare anyways. Well, there were the occasional illegal gambling dens that might pop up here and there, but they always got reported and shut down before they could make waves. Simply said, a retirement zone that’s perfect for rest. In fact, it’s so quiet that a few wealthy bastards had bought up the land around the neighborhood to use as their vacationing home. It did bring in the problem of security for these rich families, but they mostly seclude themselves from the so-called “commoners”, hence the reason why Dawn never met any of them.

Realizing his mind’s wandering off-topic by then, the guy quickly gathered himself and opened the door so everyone could get inside to rest.

“Do the two ladies want to take a shower first? We can pick the room afterward once you all wash up.” Dawn suggests despite wanting to clean up as well. He’s a gentleman, pounded into him by his mother.

Unlike the newer built homes of this era where it’s small and cramped, Dawn’s big rental house had an exceptional bathroom outfitted with a natural gas boiler that could support several families and more. This would be thanks to his parent’s foresight back in the day. On top of that, there’s a fine bathtub for the ladies to use. Though the model was a bit aged, it’s plenty big for five to six people to soak in for a few hours. Just thinking about it was an experience.

Patty definitely liked the idea of taking a bath, but Shadow on the other hand grew awkwardly stiff upon hearing the idea. She’s a cat, and cats don’t like water. However, the sweaty smell from her clothes left her very uncomfortable. In the end, the catling could only faintly nod after giving in to her own desire for cleanliness.

“Do you want to use the rooftop for a shower?” Dawn asks the hamster after they are left alone. He couldn’t soak in the bathtub, but there were other options too.

The hamster originally wanted to head back to his room, but stopped upon hearing this question: “The roof? If I remember correctly, it’s an open-air design, right? Wouldn’t it be a problem if someone sees us?”

“Who’s going to be staring at my roof for no reason at night?” Dawn shrugged and grabbed a change of clothes from the closet nearby, “I don’t want to wait, and I don’t know how long they will take with this hot weather. Taking a cold shower isn’t too bad.”

There are several single rooms on the rooftop that were once used by his parents to rent out; however, the demand over the years has grown so weak that they’ve been effectively abandoned. Aside from the running tap which Dawn used to wash out the roof at times, there’s nothing else left up there.

First dragging out a large plastic bin from one of the empty rooms up top, Dawn successfully fills up the container with the working faucet. Once done, he wasted no time and removed his shirt and pant before dunking himself into the bin in one go.
