The exchange of the gold ingot went very smoothly. Except for some formalities and other expenses, they ended up with over tens of thousands of dollars on hand. It’s way more than what Dawn expected.

The money got temporarily stored in Dawn’s bank account of course. Once the catling gets a cellphone, he will transfer the funds over.

“Good news, great news! Customers and friends, due to poor capital turnover and our store lease coming due, we are currently doing special pricing of slashing the price by half! Come now, come now! If you don’t buy now then it’s your loss! There’s no mistake, no lie, a once in a lifetime deal of buy one get one free!”

“Landlord, did I hear that right? I didn’t expect modern merchants to be so conscious. It is buy one get one free, shouldn’t we go and have a look?” Shadow sounded impressed by the good deal and wanted to take a trip inside.

Dawn merely sneered in disdain at the notion: “HA, AS IF! Don’t believe their nonsense. This shop is near the university so it is their slogan to use that sales pitch. This deal has been going back four years on the first day I attended this school.”

“…. They can do that?” Shadow pops her eyes out in astonishment, “How can they deceive customers like this? Won’t they go out of business?”

“That’s because their target isn’t the locals, but the one-time visitors. Once they sell then they don’t care anymore. They don’t do repeat customers so there’s no need to care about their reputation.”

“You seem to know a lot…” the catling was in awe at his knowledge.

“That’s of course, I was one of the victims.” Dawn plainly states this without shame, “I bought five pairs that time and not one lasted more than a month.”

“….” For a good minute, Shadow didn’t know what to say aside from gawking her mouth.

Shrugging at that reaction since he knew she would do that, “Let’s drop this sad topic. Come, we will go get you a cell phone first along with a sim card.”

The catling followed the guy like a good child. Nevertheless, her eyes wouldn’t stop staring around at the noisy environment. For once in her life, this lady wished she had more than one pair of eyes because it’s not enough to take everything in.

After entering the mall, Dawn helped the catling pick out a good phone model fitting of a lady of her specie because that one had cat ears for cosmetics. Unfortunately, there was one little kink in their mission. Unlike the guy, Shadow didn’t have an ID card, which forced Dawn to use his own identification to open this account with the carrier. And since the expense was cheaper than they expected, the two also bought a laptop for the lady to use.

This was not unexpected though. Dawn wanted the lady to learn of modern society, and what better place was there than the online world?

Also worth mentioning, they had gotten quite a significant discount due to Shadow’s amazing face. She’s good-looking, and with a simple smile without making a scene, she easily won over the young men around the mall wherever she walked. A simple clerk at the tech shop stood no chance and nearly took a loss from this sale.

Oh the age of beauty talks was very real….

“Hmm… the clerks today are so enthusiastic for some reason, the phone and computer is cheaper than my own combined together. We still have some changes left to buy groceries!”

Giggling with glee, Shadow happily took credit for the achievement: “That’s of course, do you not see the clerk watching me the entire time? He could barely speak when you were talking to him. I bet if I had tried a bit more with my charming spell, he would’ve given it to us for free instead.”

Dawn got shocked after hearing those words and unconsciously touched his own face in comparison: “Then why am I not affected? Or did you already entrance me with your spell?”

The catling waves the woes off: “Don’t think about it too much. I can control who I target.”

Making an enlightened face, the guy didn’t question it: “I see, I see, no wonder….”

Inwardly, he wasn’t apprehensive about being trapped under some magic spell. After all, he did eat that fruit of life before. However, it does beg to wonder if he’s even a normal human being anymore. For a moment, he’s actually got this urge to test the theory out.
