Ch15 - Getting Close To Him

Edited by Vai

On the first day that he slept among the sports students, at around 5:30, it started getting noisy all around.

Sui HouYu was a light sleeper, even if there was no alarm bell in their building, just listening to the voices in the corridor had woken him up.

When he opened his eyes and looked around the room in a daze, he saw several people getting ready.

He picked up his phone to look at the time. It was only half past five. He could not help but frown.

Classes didn’t start until 7:30 in the morning so Sui HouYu usually slept until 7 am. It would only take him around 30 minutes to get ready and arrive at the classroom.

Sui HouYu was bothered by insomnia everyday, and morning was usually when he fell asleep so he cherished it greatly.

Now it seemed like he would be suffering in the future.

The people inside the room moved quietly as if they were being considerate towards Sui HouYu and Ran Shu.

But the people outside in the corridors were shouting around like they were the speakers. The worst thing was that there were some who played hoops. What kind of balls were they playing with in the early morning?

Hou Mo was sitting opposite Sui HouYu on Sang Xian’s bed, and putting on his socks. He noticed Sui HouYu was awake and explained, “We have to do morning exercises and eat earlier than you.”

    “……” Sui HouYu remained silent.

“You don’t need to worry, all of us will be gone before six, and you can go back to sleep.”

As if Sui HouYu could fall asleep at will.

Frowning, Sui HouYu laid back down and watched his roommates as they got ready and left the room one by one. Indeed, it had gone quiet by the time it was 6am.

He closed his eyes and tried to fall back asleep but he found that he couldn’t so he sat up again and took his toiletries to the baths.

As he was brushing his teeth, he looked at his reflection in the mirror and wondered. Last night, he was able to fall asleep again without a problem even though he had woken up. Especially considering it was hard for him to sleep in a new environment.

After washing, he went back to the room and dried his hair with a blow dryer. He stood in front of the window, and looked at the sports field – as expected the sports students were doing their morning exercises.

Morning exercises were not part of their formal training program so the group of students were having fun playing around.

He was able to spot the lone blond hair at a glance. The man was in the front row, looking like he had been forced as he ran listlessly.

While he was watching, he heard Ran Shu mutter, “Yu-ge…..”

He turned off his hair drier and turned around. He saw Ran Shu looking at him from under his quilt. The other continued to mutter, “If you go to the cafeteria, bring two buns for me too.”

Then he went back to sleep.

The most time consuming of Sui HouYu’s morning routine was drying his hair, after that he was basically done.

He took his meal card, and went down to the cafeteria messaging Su Anyi along the way asking if she needed anything.

When he walked into the canteen, he saw a group of sports students who were about to eat, fell silent and looked at him in unison. But he was Sui HouYu – in such a situation, he could stay calm and stare back at them.

Those students kept staring at him but started eating, and did nothing else.

When Sui HouYu went for his order, a commotion broke out from that group of talents.

“Is that Sui HouYu from Lantau? Are you sure he really isn’t a woman pretending to be a man?”

“Looking like that?! A school bully? You sure, he isn’t a mascot instead?”

“He’s really like a milk bean.”

“Does he really have to look cute while angry?”

Hou Mo was in the middle of his meal when he heard these comments. He suddenly replied, “Yeah.”

Ran Shu had just woken up. After washing up, he placed a mirror on the window sill, and started drawing his eyebrows.

At that moment, the group of sports students unexpectedly came back. They were talking and laughing as they entered the door but were silenced when they saw Ran Shu.

Hou Mo and Sang Xian walked in side by side and glanced at Ran Shu.

At that time Ran Shu had only finished drawing one eye brow, while the other side was still undone. It looked very funny.

Ran Shu immediately retorted, “Damn! You, you, how about you, did you grow up like this? Did the left face and the right face not negotiate when you were born?”

    Deng YiHeng was immediately speechless.

The little stutterer is rather cruel.

After Shen JunJing came in, he suddenly started laughing arrogantly, “Speaking of which, you’re all from Class 17, right? I’m the only one from Class 16. Alas, I played well this time, there’s nothing I can do.”

Shen JunJing was not good at studying, but unexpectedly managed to get into Class 16.

Since the beginning of the term, he has been boasting about it.

Deng YiHeng, who had just been scolded, couldn’t help muttering, “How dare you talk about your studies in front of Hou Mo and Sang Xian?”

Shen JunJing replied with a big grin, “I want to, and since I can for now, why not mention it?”

Ran Shu went back to drawing his eyebrows, “My my Yu-ge is also good at studying. He only landed on Class 17 because of me. When the exam period comes, you shall know what it truly means to have beauty and brains.”

After saying that he realized that Sui HouYu didn’t like being described as “beautiful”.

Deng YiHeng’s interest was piqued, “Yo! Seems like Yu-ge is also good at studying.”

He felt that something was wrong after he uttered those words. Why did he call him Yu-ge?

Ran Shu continued to praise, “That, that, our, our Yu-ge is really good at studying.”

Deng YiHeng shook his head, “However it’s a shame he will be clashing with Da Shixiong. As long as it’s a scholarship exam, Da Shixiong would work hard. He’s not doing it for the results, he desperately needs it.”

Ran Shu shook his head, “Then his, his life is gone.”

    “Oi!”

“Wait and see.” In this regard, Ran Shu is very confident.

Hou Mo has been listening to the two of them, but he didn’t care about his studies. After all, he almost had a perfect score, so he was not afraid of anyone.

He was just watching Sui HouYu eat.

Eating so much early in the morning? He already ate a pancake wrap last night before going to bed, so how could he stay so thin?

Hou Mo picked up his bag and asked Sui HouYu, “How can you eat so much without gaining weight?”

Ran Shu – Sui HouYu’s fanboy.

He can spout brainless praises about anything, and now was certainly no different. “My, my Yu-ge can pull two bubbles a day.”

Then, he was kicked by Sui HouYu, which made him pout in grievance.

Hou Mo couldn’t help but laugh out loud.

These sports students came back to pick up their things, and then they planned on heading to the class.

Due to prioritizing his brows, Ran Shu didn’t have time to eat breakfast, so he followed along carrying his steamed buns. As they walked along the corridor he realized something.

In their dorm room, he seems to be the only one less than 1.8 meters. Deng YiHeng seemed to be shorter than the others so he ran after him and asked, “How tall are you?”

    “I’m 181 centimeters.”

    “Oh…”

    “What’s the matter?”

    “Nothing.”

Ran Shu was 178 cm tall and suddenly began to feel inferior.

Those sports students were so annoying.

During morning self study, Sui HouYu opened a box of dominos and began to sort them out.

His disorder made it really hard to concentrate during classes; this was his way of orienting his focus.

Normally, he would chew gum to relieve his anxiety; however some teachers did not like that so he needed an alternative.

Even if he didn’t pay attention, he still had no problem understanding the lecture. It could be considered as his personal trait.

As he was sorting out the dominos, he noticed Hou Mo, who was next to him in another row, putting a neck pillow, and yawning widely.

He remembered Hou Mo was answering a text last night, and had sat beside him for a long time – which was probably why he was so sleepy.

But wasn’t it incredibly arrogant to blatantly wear a neck pillow?

The two people who had just been praised as study gods earlier that morning suddenly looked at each other.

Hou Mo looked at the dominoes in Sui HouYu’s hand, while Sui HouYu looked at Hou Mo’s neck pillow. The two were relatively speechless.

In the end, no one said a word, and the two went back to whatever it was they were doing.

Since Sui HouYu had no deskmate, he pulled out the chair near the window and placed the dominoes there. He was on the last row, and if he used his body as a cover, whatever it was he was doing wouldn’t be visible.

When the third class rolled by, Sui HouYu had already stacked the dominoes into a highly difficult cylindrical tower.

On the other side, Hou Mo was in deep sleep, body constantly swaying until suddenly he fell forward, knocking his head on the table making a loud “Dong” sound.

Sui HouYu, who was playing with his dominoes, got startled and unconsciously let out a “Fuck me”, and a hand knocking and toppling over the whole tower.

In an instant, the dominoes fell off the chair and clattered around the floor, some even landed at a distance from him. It spread around Sui HouYu like flowers.

The teacher who was in the middle of a lecture paused and turned to look at them.

Hou Mo covered his head, the pain he felt was so great that he lost his ability to speak.

Sui HouYu was using his feet to drag the stray dominoes within his reach under his table and chair. Ran Shu, who sat in front of him, also helped.

The teacher came over, and looked at Sui HouYu and Hou Mo, yelling, “Playing? Sleeping? Ah? Making trouble? You are in the class!”

Those two responded honestly at the same time.

    “Get out and stand!”

Hou Mo rubbed his head and walked unsteadily towards the door.

Sui HouYu sighed, then got up and followed out. He glared at Hou Mo as he stood in the corridor.

Hou Mo rubbed the red spot on his forehead and whimpered pitifully.

It was not long before Hou Mo began to sway again and leaned on Sui HouYu.

Must be nice to be able to fall asleep so easily; one can sleep even while standing.

Sui HouYu slapped Hou Mo’s neck in disgust.

Hou Mo immediately straightened up, looked around in confusion, and then turned to Sui HouYu.

Sui HouYu looked up slightly and calmly looked back at him.

There were open windows in the corridor, and the breeze blew Sui HouYu’s hair in waves.

Hou Mo suddenly felt sleepy by watching Sui HouYu’s hair.

Still, none of them spoke. Hou Mo didn’t sleep anymore but looked out of the window in a daze.

At first, the two stood side by side, their sleeves rubbing occasionally, but slowly they got closer and closer until Sui HouYu fell asleep next to Hou Mo.

Hou Mo looked at the person beside him in surprise but he didn’t slap him back. He looked at Sui HouYu sleeping, hesitated for a moment, then put his neck pillow around Sui HouYu’s neck.

Then he let his other hand hover in front of Sui Hou Yu’s forehead so that he would be able to support him in case he fell forward.
