Human Deity: The Rise Of The Arthur

Chapter 5 - The Will to Surpass EVERYTHING

"Welcome to the Colosseum of Guilt, Sir Marcus Great Sage Ranker!" King Rhast welcomed warmly.

Everyone in the arena looked at the white-robed man named Marcus.

"The selection has ended with 30 participants, which are all willing to entertain you with their skills and mastery in their art of killing! King Rhast trying to please the white-robed man.

"Even though I arrived earlier than expected I won't force these captives to start right now as it wouldn't even be fun looking at ants right now. It will make you King Rhast lose face as you have declared it to be a fortnight." The white-robed man named Marcus told King Rhast and made his voice loud enough for the captive to hear.

"Oh yes! Yes! As expected of someone in the Silent Assassins Guild! Strict but fair!" An advisor added on the conversation.

Hearing the Silent Assassins Guild, Arthur now knew why she had that attitude and what the mumbles were about last night. Now that someone at Great Sage Stage appeared, Arthur's body froze, Joseph was only at Emperor Rank but this white-robed person is at Great Sage Rank.

A smile even more devious than before appeared on Mia's face that could even be mistaken for the smile of a devil.

"EVERYONE! BOW DOWN TO SIR MARCUS, A GREAT SAGE RANKER!" A guard beside them informed the participants.

The 29 participants bowed down to Sir Marcus. The only person who didn't bow down was none other than Mia Amir herself.

"INSOLENT BRAT! YOU DARE DEFY SIR MARCUS?! YOU SHALL PAY FOR--" as the guard was shouting and preparing to strike her, a small dagger pierced his neck causing fatal damage. It was Sir Marcus throwing a dagger at the guard.

"Hmph! Do you know who she is?" Sir Marcus asked all the guards present.

"No, sir! We do not, we apologize for not knowing these matters!" The guards filled with fear answered Sir Marcus.

"She is part of the Silent Assassins Guild, and you mere ants dare try to harm her?! Insolent fools!" Sir Marcus shocked everyone present.

The Silent Assassins Guild was a famous guild in the realm of Roax. Their average members are at Sage Stage, this was really high considering this was at the lower parts of the realm were even being at Infant Stage was amazing.

"Her? A part of the Silent Assassins Guild has the guild fallen to have a brat like her--" A dagger severed the head of the guard speaking. It was Sir Marcus silencing that guard being disrespectful to the guild.

"Uncle Marcus, welcome to the Colosseum of Guilt." Mia respectfully welcomed Sir Marcus the Great Sage Rank.

"That brat is part of the Silent Assassins Guild? THAT BRAT? That means I could--" An arrow shot through the head of an Infant Ranker. That arrow was shot by none other than Mia herself.

"Hmph! Anyone else wants to comment on that?" Mia's smile was so devious that it could even be mistaken for a smile of a devil.

Everyone else in the arena fell silent on the situation in front of them.

"Mia, come here right now we are leaving after the tournament." Sir Marcus beckoned Mia.

"But Uncle, there are some loose ends in this place that I have to--" Mia while saying this statement was looking both at Arthur and Joseph as she was humiliated by them before but she was interrupted by Sir Marcus.

"Listen here Mia, might I remind you that you failed your mission? That mission was the easiest by far and you even went out and even complicated the situation! How could the targets that were given to you be not eliminated? Even then failing was one thing but aiming at King Rhast and killing his advisor you have no right no talkback!" Sir Marcus coldly stated.

Mia was silent and her expression changed from her smile to a look of irritation. While she was walking to the side of Sir Marcus she glanced a poisonous look at Arthur and Joseph. Knowing that Joseph can't protect Arthur in the tournament she sighed with relief changing her expression to a faint smile.

The tournament rules were then stated:

1. It will be an Elimination Tournament.

2. Only killing the opponent will let you proceed to the next round. In case of no one being killed in an hour both the participants will be killed on the spot.

3. The 3 winners will be pardoned of all their crimes regardless of what they are.

After this event, all the 29 participants were sent back to their cells to prepare for the upcoming tournament. At the cell of Arthur and Joseph, there was a cold heavy atmosphere.

Joseph went in front of Arthur with a hand on his shoulder and stated: "Listen, Arthur, as of right now you are the weakest person in this tournament and will definitely die on the first round."

"I know..." Arthur looked at the ground as if he was finally understanding how inevitable his death would be.

"Now, there's a way that you could possibly survive the tournament but you have to trust me..." Joseph still has his hand on Arthur's shoulder.

"I am willing as long as I survive the tournament I will do anything!" Arthur with determination in his eyes as he found his new hope of survival.

"And... I am sorry please bear with it..." Arthur was shocked with the apology but before he could react he was punched in the gut. Pure agony enveloped his body, originating from the modern world where the pain was easily treated and barely felt being punched in the gut is an unimaginable feeling. Joseph then unrelenting in his attacks kept on beating Arthur until he was black and blue.

Questions popped up in Arthur's mind as to why this was happening. Arthur tried to form a ball as he was trying to limit the pain that he would receive. This continued until it was late at night.

Arthur's figure was barely recognizable as tears formed slowly falling from his face. His consciousness was slowly fading as he cried himself to sleep.

The following day, Arthur's eyes opened and what awaited him was something he wasn't expecting at all! All of his injuries were healed as if they weren't even there in the first place.

Arthur looked around and saw Joseph in the corner meditating. Joseph's eyes opened and looked at Arthur. Arthur was filled with fear from what he experienced yesterday as he tried to run away from Joseph but there was no place to run to.

"Wait! Don't be afraid, what I did yesterday was... sort of an experiment and I healed you anyways with my "Heal" technique." Joseph told Arthur.

Experiment? In what world would be beating someone near-death an experiment? And what was this "Heal"? Arthur's thoughts kept on having these thoughts.

"It was to see how powerful your Will was since you couldn't have had possibly known what it could do," Joseph told Arthur.

Joseph showed Arthur his Status:

Status of Arthur Reeve:

Guild: None

Body Strength: 40 -> 230

Soul: 25 -> 100

Mental Strength: 110 -> 140

Magic: 1

Talent: 1 -> 2

Rank: Unranked

Will:

- Will of Evolution-when exposed to a certain environment/ attribute will show signs of resistance and talent growth

- Will of THE ??? - Growth Tantamount to the ???

"Your growth was something I did not expect... Your Will of Evolution is something that even if one had 5 Normal Wills it wouldn't even be 1/100th of the value." Joseph was shocked at the result.

"Huh? Then, everything I went through yesterday was worth it?" Arthur sighed with relief.

"WORTH IT? DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA HOW HIGH 230 BODY STRENGTH IS? ITS 2.3 TIMES MORE POWERFUL THAN THE AVERAGE PERSON! ONLY THOSE AT A.D.U.L.T STAGE HAVE THIS KIND OF STRENGTH, EVEN THEN THEY WOULD HAVE TO FOCUS FOR 5 YEARS AT LEAST! BUT YOU! YOU ONLY TOOK A SINGLE NIGHT TO RISE UP TO HERE!" Joseph was shaking at the result and said every single word with fear.

Being unranked but still have the strength of 230 was in terms of the 6 Realms, was unparalleled against all the other humans. Only monsters could possible barely fight Arthur off for a short time at this rank.

In terms of Will, Arthur cannot be rivaled by any race other than the God race. That may be but in terms of everything else he was the bottom of the barrel.

Joseph was now curious about his strength so he asked Arthur to punch him. This was also a way to apologize to Arthur and a way to test out his strength.

Joseph knelt on the ground with difficulty in breathing. It was as if his soul was damaged instead of his body.

"Huh? Wait don't you have only 230 body strength? Then why did your punch affect me so much?" Joseph once again inspected Arthur once again and no other emotion than fear could be seen on his face. What he saw was enough to let him die a happy man, something like this was heaven-defying and something that breaks the laws of the realms.

Status of Arthur Reeve:

Guild: None

Body Strength: 40 -> 230

Soul: 25 -> 100

Mental Strength: 110 -> 140

Magic: 1

Talent: 1 -> 2

Rank: Unranked

Will:

- Will of Evolution-when exposed to a certain environment/ attribute will show signs of resistance and talent growth

- Will of THE ???- Growth Tantamount to the ???

Added Will:

- Will of Soul Erosion (Fragment- Must be cultivated to be fully awakened) – every skill/action erodes the soul of the enemy and cannot be removed unless intervention of another Will

Arthur got another Will. To put things in perspective, only 2 Wills could be possibly achieved in all of the histories of the 6 Realms. Achieving 2 Wills was not that entirely heaven-defying but still shocking as there are a plethora of people with 2 Wills, they could only get Wills from being inherited from those with Wills already.

The only way one could achieve 2 Wills by themselves is by reaching Heavenly Realm Or Demonic Realm. In this stage, one could start forming another Will and the power of this Will is entirely up to how strong the person forming the Will is.

"This youth hasn't even been here for a week but has already broken the norm by several miles." Joseph murmured to himself.

"Uhm... Sir Joseph? Can you tell me what's this "Heal" technique?" Arthur asked the shivering Joseph.

"As the name implies, I healed you using this technique." Joseph still couldn't stop shivering in fear of his potential.

Joseph took out 4 scrolls. These were: Heal Scroll, Full Strike Scroll, Full Hardening Scroll, and Wisp Movement Scroll. Joseph showed Arthur these scrolls and the latter was intrigued and started to read. Arthur has a puzzled look when he read these scrolls.

"Worry not, it's ok if you don't understand these scrolls after all these were extremely hard for me to understand as well!" Joseph sighed with relief, even if the youth in front of him had reached such high stats but the scrolls require talent and comprehension to be understood which the youth did not have. Even a monster like the youth in front of him couldn't be an all-rounder.

Little did Joseph know the look on Arthur's face was not confusion rather it was him making sure he didn't mistake what he just learned. The moment he looked at the scrolls it was as if he already read this a million times in his head after just reading it once. Also, all the content of the scroll were memorized by him in an instant.

"Here let me show you a technique!" Smugness could be seen on Joseph's face.

"Wisp Movement"

Joseph seemed as if he moved through Arthur and was barely visible in the dark cell.

"Wisp Movement"

Arthur then tried the technique out but what the difference was that Arthur was faster, had a fainter aura and was able to pass through more items in the cell even passing through the cell bars and back.

Joseph saw what Arthur just did and knelt on the floor as if he was admitting defeat. He was very proud of the Wisp Movement technique as this was his signature move and was very helpful in killing bandits in dark areas.

Seeing his skill more perfected and even more breathtaking by Arthur he felt that Rank didn't even matter and Arthur had already surpassed everyone in the arena excluding the Great Sage Rank.

"Monster... there are no words that could describe you better..." Joseph's eyes were full of shock and weakness enveloped his entire body witnessing this.

What was even worse in this situation was that he learned all of these in under a week and Arthur doesn't even know what he had done. Being a one in a thousand genius would be an insult to him, rather being a peerless genius that could rival the 4 Original Ancient Deities would be a better description.

This was just one of his skills that he was so proud of and Wisp Movement was his best move. What about the other skills that he let Arthur know? How devastating would Arthur be if he already surpassed all of Joseph's current skills? Being unranked doesn't matter, having less strength doesn't matter. Having the Will to surpass everything and everyone nothing else matters.
