I Am A Villain

Chapter 12 - 'Bloody Undertakings'

I used my 'Bind Dominator' to give the little band Joseph pulled together a scare, binding them all to serve me. There were a total of 50 people. Most were male and only a few were female.

Zero: "Joseph, the King is heading to the battlefield in 4 days. Do you have any targets?"

Joseph: "I have my men posted in these 5 men teams hidden in different villages. So far only 2 have decided to rebel. The problem is the furthest one is 3 days on horseback."

Zero: "Let me worry about the time, show me the location."

Joseph looked taken back at my little remark, but then he remembered the binding on his neck. He probably thought I had my means to travel but didn't ask. He pulled a map and pointed at the 2 villages.

Joseph: "These are the 2 villages, The one up north is further but also more dangerous. We can't afford to send soldiers if a rebellion sparks there and will have to pull back soldiers form our main force."

He had a good grasp of our military forces thanks to the information I had provided him. Joseph spent his nights to reorganize the information and come up with possible scenarios. Of the 5 villages his men had infiltrated 2 had already shown signs of rebellion.

On the other hand, I had already gotten my hand on a few fallen angels. Thanks to that I was already able to cast magic and deploy a pair of blackish-red wings, not the matte black of fallen angels.

[A.N: This sentence helped me come up with the title for Zero.]

The weird thing was, my wings were not as small as the ones those bodies had which were at most 2 meters long. They were quite longer than them reaching more than 3.5 meters in length. They were also quite stronger, as I could reach quite the speed with them.

Zero: "I'll take care of the one in the north today. Tell me the location of our men, also the second one I can take care of during our march to the battlefield."

Joseph: "Yes my lord."

As Joseph gave me the information regarding the village we slowly made our way outside the castle using a secret tunnel.

When we arrived outside I instructed Joseph how to act.

Zero: "Take the 2 knights Keep guard in front of his highness room instead of me. It should not take long. Should anyone ask regarding my presence tell them I am patrolling outside the castle."

Joseph: "Are you sure my lord? You might need the knights after all they were the only ones I could find that shared the same ideas with me."

Zero: "I will be okay, you just make sure to protect the King and never open the door to his chambers or I'll take responsibility for disciplining you."

Joseph: "Of course my lord."

As I said my part I spread my blackish-red wings and disappeared leaving behind a gust of wind.

Joseph was standing aghast frozen in place.

Joseph: "A..An… An Ang…. An Angel!!!"

After what seemed like an eternity Joseph ran back inside to secure the king's room.

As I arrived outside the village in a small opening I landed between a small group of people who stood shocked at the sight of my wings.

Zero: "Ahem…"

Afterward, they seemed to have gotten over my wings and looked at me with reverence in their eyes.

Spy1-5: "My lord!"

Zero: "Spread out, find some hay, and close of the entrances and exits of the village. Should they be alarmed of our presence set the place on fire. I will secure our way out."

Spy1-5: "Yes my lord!"

And soon the first of what be later known as the 'Bloody Undertakings' started in this small village. No one was spared as the villagers silently died under the moonless night.

'The bodies need to be left as evidence, so I can't consume any right now… no matter, what I need is to keep my magic research going.'

After the villagers died a fire was set to make sure any traveler was alarmed and spread the news later on.

Artoria was in full gear as she opened the door of her chambers to find three unfamiliar faces keeping guard.

Artoria: "What is going on?"

Joseph was the one to talk as the three of them kneeled.

Joseph: "Your highness, we are temporarily replacing Sir Zero as your guard on his orders of course."

'What does this guy has that is more important than guarding me.'

Artoria felt a pang at hearing that the always ready guard who always was guarding her was now gone.

Artoria: "… did he say anything before leaving?"

'You better have something to say for yourself. Idiot just leaving me on my own.'

Joseph: "ah… he did say not to go inside your room very adamantly or he was going to take care of us."

Suddenly the temperature dropped at a rapid speed.

Artoria: "Hoh…"- is all she said as she headed back inside.

Joseph: "My King, were you not going out?"

Artoria: "Just tell him to come to meet me when he comes back."

'Tha.. That idiot….. I won't forgive him so easily now, humph.'

Joseph: "I think I made a mistake… somehow?"

As I arrived back on Camelot I went straight to the King's chambers.

Joseph: "My lord!" – he said as he and the 2 others kneeled with reverence showing through their eyes.

'He must have told them about the wings.'

Zero: "I'll take over!"

Joseph: "Of course, also his highness said he wanted to meet you right away."

Zero: "… did you say anything?"

Joseph: "Just that you won't allow us to go inside whatever happens."

Zero: "-_-, I see. I'm going in, you can leave." – I said as I braced myself for what was to come.

Joseph looked weirdly while walking away.

Zero: "Hello your highness, you look more beautiful than ever today."

Artoria: "Is that so… I heard something interesting from the other knights."

Zero: "Gghh…"

Artoria: "Anything wrong?"

Zero: "I was showing consideration for your highness's body." – I said righteously.

Artoria: "I don't' need your consideration, you idiot. How could you go and say that?" – she said screaming

Zero: "But I didn't even say anything!!!"

Artoria: "Shut up and let me hit you."

Zero: "Now you are just being unreasonable. Put down the sword!"

Artoria: "Don't tell me what to do!!!"

Zero: "Is it that time of the month? Is that why you are being like this?"

Artoria: "I changed my mind, just let me kill you, I'll make it painless! I promise!"

Zero: "Ha….ha…. Artoria… you are scaring me a little bit!"

And so the fight continued, but I knew she wasn't serious, just a little embarrassed. I was the only one she could talk to like this. I felt like I was one of those anti-stress toys. At that moment I didn't know… I forgot that these things tend to not last long.
