I Am A Villain

Chapter 3 - A Wish!

As I made my way towards the ruined castle I started thinking hard about my wish…

'Every living being gains power steadily through time and experience, in some instances even suddenly without rhyme or reason, because they sacrificed something either willingly or not. There is a source from where each of their power come from… and like many others they have limits. Some can break through them and achieve a higher form of power but all this requires either a long amount of time or humongous amounts of luck.'

'Right now I am but a normal human. My limits are pretty clear and even if I break through them it won't make a big difference and it'll take a long amount of time. It has a very high-cost and a very low-return rate. What I need is to gain power quickly but power isn't gained from nothing… it must come from somewhere.'

And that is when I figured it out. If you have to take it from somewhere… why not your enemies.

After a while I arrived at the castle and I laid eyes on the alien for the first time. Blond hair, a handsome face, barefooted all the while laying down on the makeshift bed. As I got closer I started talking to him.

Zero: "Hello Mr. Alien."

Alien: "Hello, what is your name?"

Zero: "You can call me Zero."

Alien: "Zero-san You seem to have one of my friends with you."

Zero: "Indeed."

Alien: "Well that gives you 1 wish. It can be anything you just need to have a general idea. Of course the more focused the better."

Zero: "And is there a limit to this wish?"

Alien: "Not really. Juts make sure you visualize what you want."

Zero: "Say do you want to make a deal with me?"

Alien: "You bring me coins and your wish's power grows, what can you want more out of a deal?"

Zero: "Everyone who comes here has their own problems, some personal, some are just crazy… don't you agree?"

Alien: "So?"

Zero: "When do you think they will finish gathering the coins? They might even blow this world apart and spread the coins even further away.'

Alien: "Are you volunteering to gather them for a favor?"

Zero: "Yes."

Silence fell over the ground of the ruined castle for a few moments. My hand was clenched as this was pushing my wish to the limits, I had seen what some of his wishes do, if they are not interpreted right they might backfire.

Alien: "What is it you want? If it isn't too over the top I might even accept."

Zero: "I only need you to help me interpret my wish correctly."

Alien: "I thought that you would want another wish at first… but it seems you aren't greedy… no you are greedy but you don't let it get in the way of your reasoning. But since you are asking for this you must have seen some wishes that have been granted… where you not satisfied?"

Zero: "I just want to make sure my wish is interpreted the way I want it. I thought having your help might increase the chances of me getting what I really want."

Alien: "People that have a specific idea of what they want are rare. Most have vague ideas… like I want to be stronger and through that the interpretation is vague as well. Very well let's hear it… what is your wish?"

Zero: "My wish is very simple like you said. I want power… but the way I want to obtain it is different. I don't want the wish to be the strength, I want the wish to be the tool which will allow me to obtain the strength."

Alien: "… hahahaha, I have a feeling that you will really be able to gather all the coins. Do you have an idea on how to use the wish?"

Zero: "I wish for my body to become the tool that will allow me to gain the power of my enemies."

Alien: "In order for something to be gained, something of equal value must be lost. It is the law of equivalent exchange-that is what humans say isn't it? So in order for you to be able to achieve your wish the price will be your humanity. It might seem cliché but you will really not be a human anymore… even so are you sure? Until now all the wishes I've granted, with the exception of one of them where limited due to the person still retaining their humanity deep inside them. That one person gave their humanity and gained unimaginable power in return… became a monster."

Zero: "Even so, I'll still ask you to grant my wish."

Alien: "… very well."

As I gave him the coin he walked toward the vending machine, inserted the coin and brought out a black bottle.

Alien: "After you drink it you will stop being human. As part of the deal I'll make it possible for you to obtain what you specifically want."

As I drank the liquid I felt my body being eaten inside out.

Alien: "Focus on what you want."

And that is what I did, The ability to devour my enemies, to take their strength and make it mine, to adapt and evolve, to gain a body without these shackles and to survive.

As time passed I fell to the ground witnessing my body dissolving in a blackish-red goo substance and fainting.

As is started to wake up I heard a voice to my side.

Alien: "You finally woke up. It has already been 2 days."

Zero: "Did it work?"

Alien: "Indeed, you have become quite the monster. While not entirely immortal, I think you gained quite the bargain in return."

Zero: "I'll keep my part of the deal and collect the coins for you."

Alien: "I can only hope you do so."

I could feel that the human appearance I had now was just a skin, I could disregard it as I see fit or change my shape entirely to my preferences. I should be able to gain the memories and abilities of everything I kill. This was the thing that worried me the most. My control over my new body wasn't perfect and I only had the strength of a normal human for now.

'I will have to take this body for a field test.'
