I Cant Miss !!!

I couldn't believe I made the starting lineup; when I got home, I told Mom about it. She was so excited she called daddy, who was in school at the time, to let him know that I made the starting lineup. Daddy was excited, and he told me to let him know when my first game was, which the coach had already told us that it would be the following week. 

I told Daddy it would only be a practice match, but Daddy said he still wanted to come and see it, which excited me. Daddy seemed to be surprised that I had made the starting lineup, but I guess he didn't take it too seriously. I continued practicing; Aunty Opal figured out my weaknesses, which were dribbling the ball and my speed. I worked on those throughout the whole week, Susan and I had also become pretty close as she saw that I was just as good as her, maybe even better. Susan made it her go to, to be my rival as throughout the whole week we kept competing with each other. I won some games, and she won some games, as we played one-on-one with each other. Susan was shorter than me, a mix between Guyana and White Caucasian. Her mother would drop her off at my house along with Bianca as we had a few sleepovers and used that opportunity to practice with each other since I had a gym in my house. The coach had made Susan the point guard and me the shooting guard. Bianca, who was African American, was the center while the small forward and power forward were girls that used to bully me and didn't like me due to my being good at basketball. They were able to make the starting lineup due to being able to donate a large sum of money. They weren't that good, but Coach Gabby was doing this for money, so she allowed them to start. The first game had started as Daddy had shown up to watch it. It was during a school night and in the evening that way most parents could come to it after work. Daddy had games on the weekends, so he was able to show up, which made me excited because he brought all his friends along with him, Uncle John, Uncle Brione, Uncle Sean, and many more. I was getting a little nervous because this was a bigger stage, and it felt like everybody was watching me, but I had to calm down and give daddy a good game to watch because I didn't want to disappoint him. The game had finally started as Bianca won the jump ball, she passed it to me and then I passed it to Susan to set up to play. Susan immediately ran past their whole team and went to lay it up to score the first points. Everybody was excited my dad had even got up and shouted "nice assist sweetheart"  even though I didn't score. I had just realized that I had made an assist due to me being the last person to pass it to Susan, and she scored within a short time limit, making it an assist.

The other team was surprised by Susan's speed and started defending her harder throughout the game. The other team were called Lady Bugs as they brought down the ball and their point guard tried to do what Susan did but missed the shot as Bianca grabbed the rebound and passed it to Susan who once again drove in to lay it up to get another point, now we were up by four and the Lady Bugs had not scored yet. The Lady Bugs brought down the ball again, their point guard was pretty bad, but their shooting guard and they're Pf were the best players on their team. They quickly passed the ball around; it seemed like they loved passing the ball. Susan had gotten the steal and dribbled up to make another point. I was getting excited because we were winning, but I realized that Susan wasn't passing the ball much, but I ignored it as maybe she was just having an excellent opportunity to shoot and was taking it. After five minutes, Susan kept scoring and wasn't passing the ball much, and the other team still hadn't scored. We were up by 10 points Susan made all 10 points when the other team finally called a timeout. Coach Gabby told us that we were doing a good job and that we should continue playing hard at the break. Daddy and the rest were still cheering for me even though I hadn't scored a single point yet. I ask Susan why she wasn't passing the ball, and she told me that I haven't gotten open, everybody is just standing around expecting the ball so she just goes in to score because their point guard can't guard her and isn't fast enough to keep up with her which made sense.  The game started back up again as we continued, the Lady Bugs finally made a point their PF was able to get a lucky shot in. After what Susan had said, I started to run around more trying to get the open shot, but the SG that was guarding me was always near me even when I tried to get free. Due to my speed not being so good, she was able to keep up with me, and I couldn't lose her. I asked Bianca to come and set a pick for me because I had seen daddy do that several times during his games. Bianca looked at me confused as I came up to her and explained it to her. Bianca finally realized it, and in one of the plays, she was able to do that for me as I was close enough finally and open Susan saw me and passed me the ball as I got my first points. When I made that point, the whole gym erupted with cheers due to most of the fans from my family. I was so embarrassed but laughed as I waved to them. After those two points, I wasn't able to score again as the person guarded me harder and didn't fall for any more picks. She stuck to me like glue.

Susan was able to get 16 points as the game ended. I was able to get two points and two assists while Bianca and the other two had 0 points. Bianca had five rebounds that looked good on her stats. The other two, Su and Pam, weren't able to score a single point. The Lady Bugs were only able to score four points, while we had 18 points. Our first practice match was a blowout as we went to shake their hands after the game for good sportsmanship. Our parents thanked Coach Gabby as they all went their separate ways. That night we all went to celebrate my first game as Daddy took us all to a restaurant.
