I Don’t Want To Be The Heroine!!

"Come on now you two, the garden is this way." This way? You mean that this giant flowerbed wasn't the real garden already?

Walking around the property it truly was astounding. It felt more like a resort than anything else. Two pools, a water slide, an outdoor patio that looked more like a fancy cafe, a jungle safari, and a private park with a lake. This place literally had everything. I might get lost or eaten for all I know. Better stay close to those two.

We make it to the flower garden and it was just as beautiful as I had imagined it. Flowers as far as the eye could see. A myriad of colors that almost made it seem like a dream. It was amazing.

"You said you had a pretty cool garden Xander but this feels more like a I'm in some sort of dreamscape. All of these flowers and colors. It's mesmerizing."

"Thank you Eli I appreciate that you think of my work so highly."

"Highly doesn't even begin to describe it. It's insane at how all of this looks. You have flowers of I don't even know of and colors I could've only dream about."

"Thank you, but I have to say that of all the flowers in my garden my favorite is this one." He pulls a dark blue rose from one of the flower patches and gives it to me.

"Do you know, blue roses don't actually exist in nature, and the color of this particular rose is supposed to me an unobtainable love." The color was hypnotizing. The deep blue color was almost like the color of violets. Admiring its beauty I accidentally cut my finger on one of its thorns.

"Ow!"

"You okay Eli?" Aston said as he was running to me.

"Careful some of these roses have really sharp thorns." Xander picks up the rose that cut my finger very carefully.

"You know what they say, every rose has its thorns. I for one find that metaphor quite interesting." He just kept staring and lightly stroking the rose. Wait a minute, that sly smile of his and those gestures he's making with his hand. That's a classic trope!! It's a warning in a lot of manga and anime. Usually it means I should be wary about the person behind that facade but why? What could Xander want exactly? What have I done to really arouse his interest. His actions didn't make any sense to me..... unless!

"Master, shall I escort the lady to washroom to clean off the blood from her finger?"

"Yes please Carl." His butler took me to a bathroom in a greenhouse built for cultivating and producing Xander's unique arrangement of flowers. Even the outdoor bathroom was nicer than the apartment then I live in. One sided windows so you could still enjoy the beauty of the greenhouse, a granite counter sink as well as some antique door handles and a recovered bathroom sink so pristine it was like it came from the Titanic in prime condition.

"The bandages should be underneath the sink Ms. Eli."

"Thank you very much." As I was cleaning off my finger, I heard the door open from behind me. The person who came at the door was Xander with a giant menacing looking smile on his face and his head down, like one of those anime yanderes or psychopaths about to pounce on an innocent victim.

"Uh, hi Xander. What are you doing in here?"

"I really must thank you for coming all the way over here. I can't tell you how grateful I am to you." Grateful for what? All I did was come to his house.

"Because of you Aston is more open and caring towards other people. I couldn't believe my eyes the day after he had met you. He was normally so aloof and distant. Now he seems jovial and sweet."

"Uh what are you trying to say?" Xander then began to emanate a green aura around him and the ground started to erupt and grown a giant series of vines that tied me up. Xander came closer to me and had this sadistic look on his face like he was going to devour me. He started stroking my chin and he time he did a shiver was sent down my spine.

"I can see why Xander is so found of you, you're so much different from all of the others in our class." Yeah because I'm a 19 year old guy on the inside. This is bad, this scenario was way worse in the manga. In the manga Xander fell for the heroine because she was the only one who could see both him and Aston as normal people instead of just heirs of a company or talented geniuses. Instead of the growing as mutual friends into lovers flag I ended up unlocking a yandere route flag.

"So what are you suddenly interest in me in that way now." When I said that Xander had this blank look on his face wondering what the hell I was talking about.

"Huh? Why would I be interested in you?" Because your acting like you're about to do some unspeakable things for a seven year old boy to do!!! He then started to burst out laughing at the thought.

"Bwahahahah. You think I'm in love with you? Please I barely even know you why on earth would I just randomly fall in love with you?" At least something is consistent in this world. Xander fell in love with the heroine over a long period of time and only started to develop feeling when they got into their second year of high school.

"Don't get me wrong you seem like a nice enough person, but all I wanted to do was honestly thank you for what you did to Aston." By putting me into some sort of s&m bondage situation!?!?

"What I did to Aston?" Now that I think about it he did mention that before he tied me up like a thanksgiving day turkey.

"Ever since he met you he's been so nice and kind to me. Living in this house I'm always so alone and when I first met Aston I thought he was so much like me yet so different. I always put on this outer facade to people acting like a god damn saint. Thing was after a while the facade became a significant part of who I was until I met him. We were so much a like but unlike me he acted the way he wanted to. I kind of admired that, but at the same time he was a bit unapproachable. Until he opened up to you."

Now I get it. Xander in the original story fell in love with the heroine because he felt comfortable around her. He didn't have to fake anything around her and could truly be himself. Because of Aston's drastic change, he got to Xander first instead of me. That in turn made him like this.

"Hey guys you still in there? You've been gone for almost 10 minutes." Aston said from the other side of the door. Xander quickly let go of the plants binding me and one of the plants had spit some sort of medicine on my wounds and were healing me. Xander opened the door and went over to Aston leaving me on the floor of the bathroom alone.

"Coming Aston." I think this was the one relationship in the manga where I wouldn't have really mind if we ended up together. Whatever happened to the sweet caring Xander. This one is so focused on Aston that he just completely ignores everything else, and with that holier than thou facade no one is going to believe me if I told them this was what he was actually like.
